"I wasn’t getting the respect I deserved, that’s why I took the decision to retire" : Mohammad Amir

I am absolutely certain Amir will be taking the new ball for the WC game against India. I dont why and how but Ramiz Raja will make this happen.

India game is beyond big for Pakistan and we will be taking a chance with Amir.

Well for his sake he better doesnt. People remember him for the CT FINAL. He is done and its over for him.

Indian batting will murder him, he better stay away!

Ramiz Raja is completely against spot/match fixers to be part of the team. If he allows Amir of all people to be back, it would be one of the biggest U-turns ever. I think Amir's career is over. He waited patiently to see the back of Misbah and Waqar and when that happened, Ramiz comes up. Lol for Amir. Should never have been allowed to play for Pakistan ever.

Poetic Justice. Amir didn't deserve to play for Pakistan on merit in any case. Extremely over rated and ordinary cricketer who is not setting any of the T-20 leagues he is playing in on fire.

MD. Amir should have been in the T20 WC squad. Even though he is past his prime, he is still a good bet and brings that extra motivation when playing the Indians.

MisQar gone, and now Rameez is in

He has not take his retirement back yet.

Does Amir have any plans to make a comeback...

If he is past his prime, why need to include..

Performance and current form should be the priority.. Pakistan had played enough of their past glory and they havent won a 50 over CWC and its 30 years now ever since that had happened.

If he is in good form and takes back retirement , announces himself as available for selection
Then Selection committee can consider his name

Kaneria and Amir both are clowns.
Why is importance still being given to Amir when he is retired and doesn't want to play for Pakistan again.

The way he is acting, he is not going to get any respect in future either.

What's wrong with Amir's comments. He is right on both accounts, #1 the process he had to go through and #2 where we are now selecting players for the national team without spending enough time in t junior leagues and First class cricket. Naseem Shah is a great example.

Just because you dislike Amir doesn't mean that he is wrong.

Yes he should come back now that Misbah and Waqar are gone...
where are the galrands?
Bring in the dhol tamasha!
Hail Cezar! Hail Amir!
Pathetic.

I don't hate Amir but if anyone was given favors it was him. How many players are reintegrated into the team after a 5 year ban for spot fixing and then given a pick and choose option in the test matches? Yet he was still unhappy and was apparently not given enough respect. I also dislike Waqar for incessantly commenting about Amir's retirement goals while being on tour in NZ.
But if someone has been given undue favors in Pak Cricket, it's Amir.

There was no favor accorded to Amir. He met his ban conditions and was eligible for selection. He was performing well as a bowler at the time and was selected on his performance. He did well so had a continued run with the team.
All Amir stated was that he had to go through a more rigorous process to don the national colors and he is right. Looking at the current team talent, I think his point is valid.

Amir has been given favors whether you accept it or not.

Amir could had may never been able to return back to UK or apply for immigration there has he not been able to return back with Pakistan cricket.

He did a crime and served time there.

He was also never really selected on some special performance. PCB did a favor by bringing him back based on past reputation. He did a stint with a team, after going on the tour of England, he decided it was to call time on test and pick and choose his innings.

PCB and Team management were never gonna let a some 20 year old decide that he will playh t20s and odis in SENA and not play Test or subcontinent matches.

playing for Pakistan is observing National Duty. National duty is an honor. Yes he does owe to PCB as they gave him another chance to represent the nation after he had been caught spot fixing.

I think if PCB had made it mandatory for Amir to play 2 seasons of domestic cricket before bringing him back into the national team after spot fixing saga than these problems wouldn't have happened. Amir is too entitled. He is too "sayana" for my liking. I don't buy the argument that he was too young and innocent and wasn't aware of spot fixing. He is a cunning and selfish person.

Salman Butt and Mohd Asif were laughing at these theories of Amir being an innocent 18 year bacha at the time. Time has proven his true aukaat and character.

I also mentioned on PP here that time that Amir is no saint. I was abused mercilessly by his fans. Some people are born with criminal bent of mind. We have prisons for minors too. Amir is a very cunning and manipulative person like most frauds. He played the innocent kid from poor background card to gain sympathy. He came back, made a life in UK and said tata bye bye to Pak cricket. He never had any passion to play test cricket again.

The careers of the bowlers like Junaid Khan, Rahat Ali and co suffered because Amir became an automatic pick in the team regardless of performance ahead of these two.

They aren't fit to tie Amir's shoes in terms of talent on the field.

It seems everyone is forgetting Amir's good performance in domestic cricket when he started his return. Not to mention his exploits against India on the few occasions we came up against them (before CT). He was a class apart from the other players in the team. The only one who competed with India.

Which would be acceptable if India was the only team that played cricket.

They’re one of the best in the world and an extra important opponent for obvious reasons. Plus it’s not like the others were performing amazingly against other opposition.

1 good t20 game against India on a green mamba is all he had against India apart from CT final. He barely played a few FC matches like 2 or 3 before being picked. He played BPL and grade 2 cricket, which doesn't merit for selection in tests or ODIs.

Junaid pretty sure has better stats against India than Amir. Would be too much of hardwork for Amir to tie his shoe laces it seems? At the end of the day, it's your performance rather than your talent. Pretty sure Junaid has won more matches than Amir(2019-2020)

These guys have show resilience and have played longer than Amir. Amir declined as a bowler within 2 years into his comeback where his speed declined from 145-147 km/hr to 127-132 km/hr.

I think Junaid is severely underrated on here, he bowled brilliantly for us. Rahat was trash.

But the fact remains, on the field, Amir was a much better cricketer than Junaid, its not even close. If you can't see that because of his off field antics, then thats fair enough but its not a debate worth having, even if you mention stats etc.

Thats a completely separate point. Misbah bowled him into the ground after his comeback. If you read about his life, he is not a natural athlete. He fought serious injuries throughout his youth. His back injury in particular had basically ended his career before it started.

But his skill and ability was phenomenal. Second only to Asif among Pakistan bowlers since 2000.

Tell me which fast bowler never had to deal with injuries in his career?

Not really. Your greatness is determined by your long term fitness, resilience and ability to produce the goods in the long run. Amir in comparison to Junaid was utterly useless in UAE and eventually the PCB lost patience with his poor form with the ball and the fact he was not delivering as he had been hyped to be.

Even that 2010 series in England was played on the most green wickets in English History

Mohammad Amir drafted in for Bangla Tigers for the T10 League.

Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman recently attended a club president’s in Pakistan on Wednesday (October 20) where he spoke about not taking his salary during his tenure as the Chairman of the board. Meanwhile, former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir reacted to his statement saying that though the board President might not take his salary yet he is entitled to various other benefits during his time.

Mohammad Amir then took to Twitter to point out that the post of PCB Chairman comes with benefits, though he wasn’t entirely sure if this was the case.

“To the extent I know, PCB Chairman is not paid a monthly salary but gets a lot of benefits. I may be wrong, but this is what I have heard,” Mohammad Amir tweeted.

Having announced his international retirement, Amir is not a part of the Pakistan squad that has been announced for the T20 World Cup. Meanwhile, Ramiz Raja had said in the meeting that he had sacrified a proficient career in the commentary to take up the PCB Chairman’s role.

“I have come to this cricket board without any salary. I won’t get a single penny for the next three years. I have sacrificed my ongoing career to take up this post. The car that I own is a 2008 model one. I don’t regret the fact that I don’t own a big house or a fancy car or money. Many a time, you need to play an innings for the honor.”

Amir had his share of controversies during his time as an international cricketer. He also had his share of success and terrorising the opposition batsmen with his sheer bowling talent.

Amir has represented Pakistan in 36 Tests, 61 ODIs and 50 T20Is. He has 259 wickets to his name in international cricket.

Must say Amir on Twitter is pretty painful - borderline cringe.

In fact his comments/demeanor for the last couple of years shows he has little self awareness.

No wickets

Was it something to do with wickets drying up? A bowler is no good to a team when he cant take wickets.

Amir is one of the cricketers in Pakistan who are intelligent and have great cricketing acumen and game-awareness.

You don’t get the typical run of the mill,
memorized answers that you get from most of the other players.

Amir’s premature retirement is Pakistan’s loss. He is content and earns a lot of money through leagues, while Pakistan has tried to replace Amir with dross like Naseem, Musa, Hasnain, Rauf etc.

Yes, great logic, replacing a left arm bowler with the right hand. He has been replaced with Shaheen Shah Afridi you muppet.

He doesn't deserve this fame, he's cringey af and an egoistic individual. Doesn't deserve to be selected for Pakistan again, hopefully gets kicked out of PSL as well.

A trundler, mediocre bowler. Apart from his 1 debut year and CT final heroics, he has been pretty awful.

Should never be selected again.

The guy ruined his own career and only has himself to blame. The PCB went out of the way to bring him back. What do they get in return? Moaning, whinging, ego, arrogance no it all who thinks he’s never to blame, the world should revolve round him and it’s everyone else’s fault but his. What a loser. Good riddance.

Also, the guy thinks he deserves respect lol, with his antics he deserves a slap. What cheek. He’s lucky he got a second chance never mind respect which he lost due to his own doing. Beggairat!

Hope the people who mocked me for being against him ever coming back can show some humility now.

Lowest of the low is Amir.

Salman Butt and Mohd Asif were laughing at these theories of Amir being an innocent 18 year bacha at the time. Time has proven his true aukaat and character.

Yeah it was obvious yet we brought him back shamelessly. A true stain on our history .

Unfortunately, he wasted his talent and made a terrible mistake when he was young and naive. Everyone deserves a second chance and I supported his comeback to the team. However, I felt that greed (focusing on the money making leagues) plus a lack of ambition and hard work meant he never remotely achieved what he could and should have done - apart from one glorious day in June 2017 at the Oval. That moment alone means he will always have something to remember at the end of his career. Also, his immaturity in a lot of interviews and on social media did him no favours. Conclusion - thank you for the Oval but good riddance. Your ship has sailed.

People will remember him with a smile when they think of the incredibly talented, long haired 17 year old and when they think of the amazing deliveries to Sharma and Kohli in the CT Final. Equally, they will frown when they remember his act of treason, his lack of performances on his comeback, his failure to fulfill his potential and his attitude. I suspect - unfortunately for Amir - that the frown will far outlast the smile.

Kehtay hain na ke kuch logon ko izzat raas nhin aati, Amir fits that mould, he was set to be the biggest star but he opted for short cuts. He had the golden bowl in his hands, he decided to beg. Now him/Asif/Butt they can dream about respect.

You stay in your shell and become mercenary also we don't need stained individuals

What? Everybody told me he was the next Wasim Akram.

I never wanted him back and his comeback was mostly disappointing apart from a few limited overs games.

If anything the convict got far too much respect in my opinion.

Saeed Ajmal said a few days ago that Amir should apologise to Harbajhan for a twitter conversation between the two. Amir butted in with exchange of words to bhaji.

Amir in place of Hasan yesterday and we'd be in the final. A quality squad is key and Wasim Jr wasn't up to replacing Hasan who just couldn't get it right this WC. He has a strong future ahead but Babar should've been ruthless and dropped him. A real shame!

Maybe he would have but the coward prefers to be retired even under a new management has made no effort, he is a greedy opportunist nothing else

Should never have been allowed back. But hindsight is a wonderful thing.

After many years opposed to his return I was also charmed by the 'let's give him another chance' talk and was swayed to allow him to return after his criminal activities / fixing / lies etc. In the end he turned out to be as selfish, arrogant and self-entitled as I feared.

Nobody is entitled to respect. Respect has to be earned.

Bye Amir. Close the door behind you little boy. And don't come back.

Well said!! An absolute joke that this bloke is talking like this. He seems to believe that Pakistan owe him. How dare he????? This man sold his country. He disgraced his country. That country then invested a lot in his comeback and he failed to perform (one glorious day in 2017 being the exception).

Listen Amir. You are finished for Pakistan. Good riddance.

The reason Pakistan cricket never progresses like it should that these performers who are tainted or won earlier in their career have fans who cling onto that one good game they remember and apply all future game potential even after players have lost all their form since that point. This is why some fans keep asking for Ahmed Shehzad back or Umar Akmal or Amir back.

Apparently he mentioned that he will only take back his retirement if the PCB approaches him with respect and guarantees him selection for the national team. He is either in denial or has no serious intentions of ever wanting to play for Pakistan again, no one can be this clueless and deluded

He is honoured to play in the PSL but wont bend his back to play for his country, lost respect for this guy

It's shame he didn't find it an honour to play for Pakistan like he does for playing in the PSL. Asking for respect is very rich coming from Amir who is a convicted spot fixer who has been behind bars. It's a shame he hsan't given Pakistan, his team mates, friends, family and fans the respect they deserved or he wouldn't have done what he did all them years ago. I know he has done his time, been 'forgiven' and rehabilitated and we should move on, but his statements on wanting respect then brings it all back. (No doubt he was a very fine bowler once upon a time and helped Pak win some ODI's and t20's.

What a fraud He ll do a K Akmal in year two saying he wont play in PSL after being demoted as hes not being respected etc etc

Now he is openly mocking Ramiz Raja for bringing in drop in pitches. This guy is purely bitter with no respect for the country he represented

Former captain Shahid Afridi believes that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) should be blamed for the controversy surrounding pacer Mohammad Amir’s retirement from international cricket, while speaking on Samaa’s show Game Set Match.

The left-armer brought the curtain down on his career, in December last year, after reservations with the coaching staff which included Head Coach Misbah-ul-Haq and Bowling Coach Waqar Younis.

“Man management is the most important thing. There is never a big issue but we have the tendency to make a mountain out of a molehill,” said Afridi. “PCB should always play the role of a father figure which is why they should have handled the Amir issue in a better manner, rather than creating headlines on media. I think that Amir and the coaches [Misbah-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis] should not be blamed for what happened.”

“These things happen when there is communication gap between the board and the players. I faced the same situation during my playing days, when I got to know the board’s decision through media despite being the captain,” he added.

The flamboyant all-rounder also threw his weight behind separate coaches for limited-overs and Test cricket
