"I wasn’t getting the respect I deserved, that’s why I took the decision to retire" : Mohammad Amir

The PCB shouldn't permit a player to play in the PSL if he refuses to play in domestic cricket

This. This really needs to be a policy here. Would also mean we don't have to endure oldies like Shahid Afridi or Hafeez for longer than we need to.

He retired so his fitness and performance levels would benefit Pakistan in other formats and also so he could spend more time with strength/conditioning. Instead, he gets injured all the time and is hardly consistent even in pyjama cricket. Truth is, he wants to make a quick buck with the least amount of effort and is unwilling to put the hard work in. The Easy Paisa Amir has no real ambition for Pakistan and it seems not as much at the domestic level either.

I can see him getting relegated to gold next year if he continues like this, unfit, underperforming and absent. Of all things Ramiz does, not supporting fixers is an admirable thing.
The ground beneath Amir's feet is shrinking quickly now.

He has denied reports of a comeback - says busy with league cricket.

Happy Birthday to Mohammad Amir

Good riddance that he is not coming back. Better for him he just plays in random leagues around the world - at least then he will be getting the respect he deserves from hotel bell boys carrying his bags to his room.

TBH not sure there is any room for him in this setup anyway, even if he came out of retirement. He missed his chance of leaving Pak with a real legacy, will always be rememebered now for his childish antics instead.

Please, can we move on from him?

Please, forget about him.

I doubt he was born "on this day in 1992". But the age fudging gave him a lucky break - another few months here or there and he would have been in a prison cell in the UK when he got caught.

Leagues millionaire!

He was smashed around in The Hundred last year so they have not picked him up again as bowling at 80mph and can't bat or field much so says it.

As per reports he has been signed up as (partial) replacement for Naseem Shah by Gloucestershire

Signed up to play club cricket for Hornchurch - that’s the equivalent of playing in your local park.

Yet people think he should represent the national team. 🤔🤔

Seen him a few times at my local gym in Harrow. Comes for workout almost everyday, I've not bothered to approach him. I don't like the guy anymore but I do feel like going up to him and telling him that he has let us down after all the support we gave him to get back into Pakistan colours.

You should go upto him nicely and tell him.

If he do please film it and post it on this thread.

I dont think this is required.

Lets be civilised and leave him alone.

I know, if I was that kind of a person I'd have already done that. I just let him be and do his thing at the gym. I think he's already paying for his actions, he's like a nobody in the cricket scene as well as in real life.

Was supposed to play on Saturday but no sign yet.

Probably ran away crying because the Hornchurch captain didn't doff his cap to him and arrange for a red carpet for him to walk over when he arrived at the ground

What gym bro, I'm near Heathrow - I'll get him to sign my Amir '5' shirt and frame it from CT :D

Is he getting more money by not playing for Pakistan vs playing for Pakistan? His performances in the T-20 leagues are not worth mentioning and he got injured in the 100, CPL and PSL.

I cannot think of a more collosal screw up as far as career decision making is concerned i.e. the spot fixing scandal in 2010, the decision to retire from Test Cricket in 2019 and then the decision to retire from international cricket in 2020.

Yeah, incredible and tragic the way his career has transpired. He's essentially a nomadic mercenary - and not a very good one, seemingly.

Left-arm seamer Mohammad Amir will be joining the Tallawahs for the first time (in CPL 2022) having represented the Barbados Royals last season, claiming 11 wickets at an average of 13.54.

Apparently people asking if he can be replacement for Shaheen!

In his first game in CPL2022, Amir 1/23 in 4 overs

Let him make his money. When you hit the mid 30s, you are entering the final days of your career. A career that promised so much, has fizzled out with a few good moments and the indelible mark of fixing

Not whilst he's still retired and whilst Ramiz Raja is Chairman I guess.

Maybe he'll have a change of heart about retirement if there is a change of PCB Chairman, but it could be too late by then.

He's not needed. Pakistan's future is bright without him.

Doing well Amir

In his second game of the CPL 2022:

There is absolutely no way the guy is 30. He looked extremely babyfaced when he broke through but the face in front of us now is definitely nearing retirement.

People who knew him around the Pindi area all know he was around 3-5 years older than his listed age. He’s probably around 34 now.

Sad to see what he’s become and he can only blame himself.

But I have to get some credit to Misbah as well who bowled him into the ground after his comeback when he always had a fragile body. He could have handled the transition period and mentored these young fast bowlers for Pakistan but it wasn’t to be.

1/21 in 4 overs for Tallawahs vs Royals in CPL today

He has gained a bit of muscles he looks bit stronger.
In the death overs he is still one of the best in the world.

His time is up for Pakistan though. He should play these leagues and enjoy whatever time he has left in his career.

His latest tweet is the nail in the coffin for me. Shameful person who dishonoured the Green cap and now acts as if he is some God of Cricket

The nail was in the coffin when Rambo became chairman.

People think Amir is desperate to play for Pakistan but he’s living his best life. Playing T20 leagues all around the world, and he’ll be the next Pakistani to play in the IPL.

Incredible that he lacks the self-awareness to not point the finger to others. He got a stiff slap from Harbhajan and now he's trying it with Mohammad Wasim. Amir wants another online humiliation i guess.

His spat with Harbhajan was disgraceful. Bhaaji and Shoaib are friends. Who asked him to poke his ugly nose between them? Harbhajan is 11 years senior to him, and he doesn't even have the decency to talk to him. And when Harbhajan reminded him of his past, he got even worse.

I was told early on that your respect and izzat is in your hands

If you speak well of others you will also be spoken of well

He talks about not getting respect in the opening post Is this the way to get it?

Amir speaks like a poor individual whos not very clever. I mean why get involved in all this Its nothing to do with you and especially with his history youd think hed put his head down and quietly concentrate on his performances

These sort of tweets dont do him any favours Hes done nothing but burn all his bridges over the last 3-4 years Why? He just doesnt seem to be mentally in the right place

Where did this go wrong?

Why didn't anyone try to work things out between him and the PCB.

I mean look at Hales, he's back playing for England, they've sorted things out.

Because he clearly has an attitude problem and thinks he is above the board and even the game

Hales has always wanted to play for england Saj It was morgan that wasnt picking him

Amirs retired and turned his back on the national team, hes bad mouthed many in the management and now the chief selector

He might have had a case for being overbowled and badly treated but you cant pick and choose which management you are gonna play for, how much you are gonna play and when

His demands were ridiculous and so is his petulance and behaviour since then

Hes burnt his bridges wheras Hales has kept his mouth shut and let his bat do the talking

He wasn't bowling well and didn't like the criticism that he got.

Had he received the spot fixing money in Pakistan and helped our forex reserves, he might have gotten some respect.

Hales probably found out the prestige and honor to don the England jersey the hard way. He remained quiet during his years in wilderness and kept performing. Amir on the other hand, probably doesn't know the privilege of representing your country.

You can't convince a guy to give his all to something he isn't interested in. And anything less than everything is not enough for representing your country regardless of how good you are.

It all depends on the needs. All this other stuff is just a drama.

England conveniently forgave Hales and welcomed him back when Jason Roy lost form and got dropped from the squad. They need Hales now so they are ready to forget the past and move one.

It is said that Amir should be more grateful. Well PCB did not bring him back in 2016 out of the goodness of their hearts. They brought him back because they needed him.

At the moment, they don’t need him because they have Shaheen, Naseem, Rauf, Hasnain, Dahani, Hasan etc. at their disposal, but you remove these guys out of the equation for one reason or the other and you will find PCB extending an olive branch to Amir.

Besides, Hales was desperate to get back into the England fold but Amir is content with where he is at. He is earning great money playing franchise cricket and gets to choose where and when he plays.

He will land a coaching gig at these franchises in a few years and the cash flow will be keep on coming.

PCB did make an effort, IIRC Wasim Khan spoke to him personally and tried to convince him to take his retirement back but obviously it didn't help.

Saj, he clearly does not care about playing for Pakistan. Respect only comes when you deserve it. I know that in Pakistani cricket not all players are treated equally.

But in Amir's case he was the golden boy for a long time even though he had very little performances to show in return.

Pakistani fans should move on from this brat, big mouth and zero credibility.

Ex Pakistani players and complaining about respect ...nothing new as if they have won us countless WCs.

I never hear an Aussie complaining about lack of respect ...in fact they do find the right time to retire ...unlike Malik or Hafeez etc...

Mohammad Wasim on Mohammad Amir in a recent interview:

“My work is to select from players who are available for selection. Unfortunately, Mohammad Amir never made himself available in my tenure. He has taken retirement, so I never talked about him. When he is not available, what can I say. The rest, who are available, we do talk about them and consider them. But there is no such policy"
