Without the IPL Experience,Indian Cricketers would not have come good in the big games or big stage.
It's as if the tension of a big game doesn't loom on their faces anymore & they only seem to enjoy playing the big games. For someone like me , who was watching Cricket in the 90s,India was at best a SFist, but with scrape through wins.
But after IPL,It looks Indian Cricketers want to do well & the hunger & determination has only increased resulting in improved perforamces...
Whether they win the Final here is a different thing, but attitude from India is top notch!!!

David Warner must be scratching his head as to whether this is the same SD who couldn't accelerate in IPL,whenever the skippie wanted !!!!

Indians have been lucky they played against the Pakistan's poorest team ever and ran into a demoralized South African team. We saw how you guys wilted against a spirited no-IPL experience Sri Lankan side.

Not True. Dhoni happened even before IPL . I truly think he developed this culture of chasing any total under pressure. It rubbed onto lot of players following him. Also we have these Delhi guys are who are extremely good under pressure. Gambhir/Sehwag/Kohli. What IPL did was unearthing players who may never have made it had they come through traditional route. Ashwin may never have played for India in Tests but for IPL. Pandya is hardly known outside IPL. India had sereis of batting role models to look upto. Tendulkar, Dravid, Laxxman, Sehwag... etc.

With all the IPL experience the Proteas have still choked

Amla, De Kok, Faf Du Plessis, AB de Villiers, JP Duminny, David Miller, Chris Morris, Morne Morkel, Rabada and Imran Tahir have UPL experience but srtill suffered a massive choke

What a timid & unknowledegable post!!!There were like these before saying BCCI/ICC fixed this for Ind etc
So,Is it India's fault they Pakistan is unable to raise it's game standards?
When Pakistan won a couple of days ago,Pak team was really good but today when Ind won,It's bcoz of a demoralized SA team
How do u know they were demoralized?
Did ur gully team beat them at rubgy?
Any1 who plays well that day wins...Please first learn to acknowledge Opposition strengths & weaknesses!!!

SL played well that day & deserved to win...ASAT!!!!

Cricket was played and invented way before IPL too. Nice try teja bhai but teja main hu mark idhar hai. :inti

Fluke win.

People,Please read the post completely...I'm not saying India never played well in ICC Tournaments ...It's just that a lot of aspects have improved after IPL- running between the wickets, death bowling(only recently with Bhuvi & Bumrah),Fielding especially.....I'm not saying Ind is invicible...It's just that the present Indian team is responding to challenges better than before!!!!

Partly, but IPL hasn't managed to replace an ageing Dhoni and Yuvraj.

Wrong it's the other way around. Improving Indian performances resulted in the formation of IPL. After the matchfixing guys were thrown out, we started fresh in 2000. Lot of new players like Yuvaraj, Harbhajan, ZKhan, Sehwag, Kaif, Dhoni came into the team and the team had a nice mixture of experience and youth. During that period, we reached the 2003 WC, Drew 1-1 with Aus, ENG, Won a test series in Pak, Eng, WI, won the t20 WC. It was after the t20 WC that IPL was developed.

Looks like Yuvraj & Dhoni will be going on their own terms......prob after the 2019 WC in England....I think its staying a tad too long & will rob the Pants & Iyers exposure to International Cricket

I freely admit that IPL has been instrumental in producing the professional Indian cricket player and thus raising the level of the national team. In fact the IPL has raised the level of play of all foreign players like Stokes, Warner, Smith etc.

I hope they are replaced before WC 2019. Maybe a couple more seasons of IPL will make people realize that there are much better options available.

Most of the SA players have IPL experience. There are 1051 ways of looking at things if yo want to justify any thing that happens. Indians have been lucky for a long time now.

Indians have had good talent. Even the best systems struggle without talent for e.g. Australia.

So then what happens to these players when they are travelling and playing against Australia and England?Got whitewashed last time and cannot forget the 8-0 drubbing in England and Australia.....Only domestic cricket produces talent

Bhaijaan kitna saal purane ka baat kar rahe ho. India did not get whitewashed anywhere in the last tour cycle with the new players. The oldies did in the previous cycle. It is Pakistan who were whitewashed in SA, Oz, NZ in the current cycle.

India are getting the benefit of a good domestic structure and result of good investment. IPL, well IPL is dominated by foreign players. SA inclusive but you see SA failing in pressure situations.

India learn to deal with the pressure by giving their hundred percent in big matches. I am not sure SA is playing their full strength squad. How can Wayne parnell play for SA, heck he would struggle to get into BD side right now.

India also has a strong domestic structure and also good coaching at grassroots level.

Brother if i remember correctly then we lost to Australia recently both Tests and ODIs very badly in Australia but have been running high on our domestic performances against visiting teams like NZ and England. The team that lost to Australia in 2003 in my opinion is the best 11 ODI side to represent Team India.

I think the culture of positive cricket and chasing the big totals started under Greg Chappel and Dravid's Captaincy. Going back to 2005 ODI series against SL, was when it all started. Dhoni and Yuvraj were the key men back then, Raina came along a bit later. It was Dravid who i believe started to put his team to bat second during the bilaterals, which gave them a lot of belief and Dhoni and Yuvraj were just getting started then.

Indians are just naturally good at batting and have many batting legends to look up to (ex. Sachin,Dravid,Laxman,Ganguly)

That's the point of OP, it won't really rob them they will have rubbed shoulders with greats of the game and international cricketers and played in front of crowds of 60k, then the transition to international cricket will be easier

You either don't know the meaning of the word "whitewashed" or are just acting cute.
