Yes, but back in those days especially north India where ambitious parents want their kids qualifying for age group tournaments, the fudging is rampant. In that time, the background check wasn't AT ALL enforced.

In bihar and UP and some other places, age is understated for government jobs etc purposes. It's all pervasive.

Kumble, Sri, Venky, SRT, Dravid , Dada, VVS weren't age fudgers.

Sehwag, Yuvi, Munaf, Praveen Kumar, Bhajji(likely) were the fudgers from that era.

Imagine being an Indian and saying because Dhoni worked for railways his age must be accurate.

When it's *exactly* for government jobs that ages are fudged in UP and Bihar.

In North India everyone knows about age fudging. Its just that nobody bothered in those days. Now the BCCI is strict

Media was not really so intrusive in the 70s & 80s. Also Yograj was an average cricketer who mostly toiled away in Ranji. He got more fame & glory after he quit cricket & became an actor in the 80s. Yuvraj was born before all that in 1978 - so that never made news

Look at Sami Dravid or Arju Tendulkar. They wont be able to fake their ages bcoz their dads were allready in limelight when they were born !
