Ahmed Shehzad - A star in the making

Even more than when he last played international cricket? He looked quite plump then....

Dont' know about present state. I am talking about his last appearance dude. And compared to when he first came to the scene in T20 WC.

As I always said, He is too inconsistent. Over confident shot again. Should not be dropped from the last ODI.

Big game for Shehzad, he needs a good score or else he may be discarded for the next series.

A flop can be added to dust bin along side farhat, hameed, I nazir, Shahzaib and a few others...

Looks like the wings have been clipped.... :40:

This is a shocking decision!

The kid has scored 2 centuries and isnt even 20 yet!

good decision , the guy needs to go back and learn that national team jersey is not that cheap.

i backed this guy to be big as a player, but sadly doesn't seem to be technically correct. needs to work heavily on his batting and to play his natural game instead of going back into a shell.

that IMO has been his downfall, playing to cautious and not with his natural instinct.

The best decision PCB has made this Year so Far . He needs to correct his Technique importantly through domestic he is just 20 so plenty of time for him to improve

The way he was performing he could have never performed against a quality bowling attack pretty much TAPE BALL slogger to me TBH , too much shuffling --too much front foot for No reason--

So its time for him to Learn through domestic

He was getting too big for his boots anyways. Someone had to bring him down :mhk

Guys,

What did you make of Shezad's performance tonight against Sialkot?

He scored 74 runs off 47 balls Hitting 11 boundaries and 2 sixes with a strike rate of 157.44

I personally still think he's nothing more than a flat track bully especially on a flat pitches against a weakish bowling line up like today but maybe with experience and increased exposure to quality bowlers in foreign conditions, he may just improve over time (or maybe not?).

Lets see how consistently he plays throughout the tournament.

He is certainly a wonderful talent just needs right temperament and guidance

As with all our good uoungsters.

they have outgrown domestic cricket.

The nezt stage of development is in the A or ODI TEAM.

I look for UPSIDE POTENTIAL ina youngster.

The Kid has got 2 ODI centuries before the age of 20.

Looks like the little angel has been having some disciplinary issues....

Oops....

As long as Afridi is playing, Shahzad shouldnt be back.

If you wanna bring him back then drop Afridi

These two shouldnt be in the same side. Thats just asking for trouble.

sorry but ive got to comment on the zanana title for this thread. Who even talks like that nowadays??

Chhota farishta getting fined and banned all over the place :ahmed

What's the latest on him? I heard he had another disciplinary issue but how has he been doing with the bat this season? He's immensely gifted but his attitude could be his downfall.

Didn't perform in the WC!

But that inning that he played vs. NZ last year where he made his maiden ton was a fantastic one!

Should be given one more chance ahead of Farhat!

He has the quality with the bat just needs to sort his attitude out which frankly stinks!

He has got good technique to become a best opener for Pakistan for a number of years.we have seen its glimpses in his two tons.
He should be in the team ahead of Farhat.

H
Today Little Shezza came of age....

At the tender age of 19 he has scored his second ODI century....

Only 17 Pakistani players have ever scored more centuries than this 19 year old.

It showed a level of maturity that we have not seen from many youngsters that have debuted for Pakistan....

Long may it continue!

:littleang

What happened to the title... I thought it was rather apt.

Can it be reinstated please....

Who's with me?

Wheres Ahmed Shehzad these days...??

Anyone know what he's upto these days and his chances of returning to the national side? :ahmed

Ahmed Shehzad??

Where is he.. he can't do any worse than Imran farhat.. or Shoaib Malik.. plus he's young and supposed to be our wonder boy 0_o

is he performing?

nop plus his ''bara player'' attitude towards PCB has ruined him..

poor mans afridi? so what is imran Farhat hahahha.. poor mans bhanja

We really do need to get rid of Farhat nd Malik nd bring in Shehzad or some1 else as opener, nd Fawad in Middle order (either him or asad cud sit out of playing XI)

Shehzad has a ton against NZ.. can't be that bad.. saw him play in world cup..was awful.. but since Malik got another chance..why not this kid..?

They are not better than Shehzad, just check the stats.

Shehzad is in-consistent and He can't perform at International Level however Awais is an Left Handed Monster while sharjeel have a Very Nice Technique and is Pretty Nice Batsman So He Deserves A Chance at International Level and the Last centuary that shehzad made was more of a selfish inning. :/

Just check the stats of Awais Zia averaging 13 with strike rate of 66 with 1 half century in ODI cricket, I know he is a talented batsman but let perform in domestic level first then we can think him to introduce in the national team. Right now there are more deserving players available like Shehzad & Shajeel both have been performing very well.

Bring back Shehzad into the side.
He will grab the opportunity this time very well.

I still maintain this

If Malik can be back with all that has ben alleged against him then it shouldn't hold back a young player who is actually talented and can hold a bat.

I don't get all the negativity towards Shehzad...he had a poor WC but we are forgetting he scored 2 100s in ODIs for us this year, both match winning...what more can we ask from an Opener, especially one who has shown the ability to score 100s?

He needs to be brought back against England in LOIs !!! time to drop the totally useless Farhat forever !!!

What happen to this kid? Is he even playing in A tours? I know it was said there was some issues with his attitude but you can't just discard a young opening batsman (a rarity in Pakistan cricket) who has 2 ODI centuries altogether because you don't like his behavior. Kohli also had behavioral issues how did that turn out for India?

I think in order to keep Farhat in the team the people in power will always look for ways to get rid of the competition whichever way possible.

^^ He will be playing BPL. I think his match is today. Kohli is an exception. He is the most consistent batsman in the whole Indian side ATM. Terrific fielder. He has

Due to Farhat, many other openers are suffering my frd including Shehzad.

Kid ha talent like many gave said 19 games 2 100s, should bring him back now, hopefully he has learnt his lesson

I hope they bring him back.
Under a good coach and captain he will flourish.

I dont know how much this performance counts for, but Shehzad sure is talented. Imran Farhat is keeping out some really talented guys.

Was impressed by the way he supported Gayle today instead of giving away his wicket cheaply.
He could learn a lot from him.

Excellent opportunity for Shehzad to open the batting with one of the most talented guys around.

Would like him to eventually replace Hafeez in the test squad.

Highlights? I've maintained this for two years now, Shehzad is a monster of a player when it comes to talent.

He's a must start for the Pakistani team in my opinion.

he is one of the most talented young batsmen in the world , he along with virat kohli were the best batsmen in age group cricket , get him into the team now and give him a proper run , he has every freaking shot in the book..

will become even more arrogant now, sad state of affairs.

Sad state of a train of logic more like. So now players shouldn't perform because they 'will become even more arrogant' ?

Great.

yes they shouldn't be performing in gutter level Bengali domestic T20 crap when they should in fact be playing the premier domestic 4 day competition back home in Pakistan.

is that a long enough train of logic for you?

This guy needs to be given another chance, he is the future opener and much better player than son in law. LOL at people clinging to attitude problem, I much rather have a athlete who has a fighting spirit in him than a bakra like Farhat or Taufeeq.

1. He has the opportunity to learn from and play against the likes of Gayle and Scott Styris in one day. These opportunities, unlike Pak's domestic cricket, do not reappear every 3 months.

2. I was looking for quality, thank you.

3. You sound like a Bengali stole your mangoes: "gutter level Bengali domestic T20 crap"

yes am sure playing against the likes of Sean Ervine, Scott Styris and a T20 merc like Gayle who happily shirks national duty will truly make him a world class player.

the Bagladeshi team is below even Afghanistan in the T20 rankings, so hopefully you can surmise how 'good' their domestic competition will be.

why don't you stick the topic rather than worry what I sound like, will make your argument look a lot less feeble.

I'm sorry if you misinterpreted, but I didn't mean that Gayle would teach him patriotism.

It may be, but those aren't the players he was going to benefit from anyways.

And it was just harmless commentary, I apologize if I hurt your feelings.

He is the most talented opener in Pakistan. He is better than Pakistan's current ODI openers. Stopid PCB.

if these competitions were of any utility whatsoever it would have made India T20 champions or produced WC cricketers for their national side.

none of which has happened.

I'm not arguing in favour of the T20 culture; I'm sayin that as a young player, it would benefit Shehzad to play alongside some international players and be able to perform on a more pressurized stage ( televised matches ).

Arrogance and attitude has befallen this young man.

When he's on form the boy is special, very special, but unfortunately the WC and consequent indiscretions haven't helped him.

why do you guys care about his attitude?

I mean, to be honest, I sort of like a cocky opening batsman.
