Well played but bowlers and pitch were flat , evidence is hafeez knock.
Needs to be retained for ODIs, we'll realise when farhat plays how much we need shehzad, against good fast bowlers.
Is he not in the squad?
I'm keep saying he should be in odi
No! That's the problem, and we're gonna miss him.
I think he needs to be averaging in mid 30s as an opener at least , otherwise he will be another Nazir.
Didn't see his batting today, but hitting 20 FOURs in 56 ball is something incredible; it's often easier to hit SIX than FOUR. It shows the array or shots available to the batsman, his skill level, his timing & most importantly his placements. For a National SF level game, it's an outstanding innings.
First I came to know this boy from one of my UK based friend, who saw him at 15, smashing ENG U19 bowlers to a match winning 167 (That ENG team had Finn & Saker) on 4th innings. Since then, I had been following this boy for the last 5/6 years in junior cricket, PAK A team tour to BD & for Dhaka clubs (actually long ago suggested one of my League scout friend to hire this boy). Shehzad is an outstanding talent, had I not seen him won't have believed such a mercurial batting talent can come out of recent PAK set up.
He is a near perfect LO opener - converts his starts. What amazes me is his range of shots, for every ball he seems to have multiple options, often it's becoming his main down fall - unfortunately he is mentored by some hacks & struggling for his shot selections. While batting, his balance is very good & since Inzi, I haven't seen any PAK player having so much time to play a shot. He identifies the length very early & can go to a suitable position much earlier. He 'll hardly be cramped playing shots & has a very good swing of the high back lift.
If a batsman can both pull & cover drive on either foot well , it's really difficult to restrict him, the last best right-hander that I have seen with such strengths was Panta (best ever was Viv) & no comparison, but somehow, Shehzad'z batting reminds me of a young Panta. & I think, he is a better player of spin than many of his contemporary PAK regulars. In every innings, he can definitely maintain a very high strike rate - but for how long depends whom he chooses as guide & mentor.
In WC, he failed but was a bit unlucky - PAK initial matches were in Lanka & honestly speaking those were not good ODI tracks - too much seam movement & batting at 1,2 3 anyone would have struggled. When your National selector mentions about the potential selection of a bowler playing only 3 FC matches in the season & then you find that the player is out injured for few months, indicates the competence level of the man - I don't expect much from the PCB selection team, but any given day, he would have been first name in my any LO squad - batting at No. 1.
If he utilizes Dav's availability to his benefit, he has the potential to break MoYo's PAK record of 39 International 100s, off-course other option is to replace Nazir & Afridi as a "popular crowd puller" (he bowls a bit leggi as well). & for the last time - he had absolutely no "attitude problem" for the days he stayed at Dhaka clubs. He is to play cricket & score runs, not to be "mama's good boy" & I am not going for baptism of "Pious Musllim" to him.
Saw a glimpses of those 2 para today. Extra bonus, he probably is the best fielder in PAK & can bowl decent leg spin. Only in PAK it seems possible that this boy is not an integral part of LO squad; may be "Attitude Problem"
What attitude.
He's a little angel!!
Lets hold our horses for a second chaps.. two consecutive failures and all of you would be calling for his head..
be moderate in praise and criticism..
Brilliant performance. Must in the ODI team. Soon test team too.
good enough for all 3 formats for pakistan
i feel hafeez is threatened by his presence, looked like hafeez was a bit jealous of him today telling him off a bit, a few close run out calls, and it was hafeez who stuffed him at the end.
i think hafeez knows shahzad is a better opener than him and is a much better player of the new ball and pace.
shahzad and jamshed are good enough for all 3 formats for pakistan opening the innings they naturally are attacking batsmen who like to play their strokes.
theres no point comparing shahzad to afridi or nazir
shahzad has a decent technique and looks a proper batsmen and looks good against pace.
afridi and nazir are sloggers pure and simple so i don't know why people are lumping ahmad shahzad into that category.
he is also a gun fielder and can bowl some semi decent leg spin.
chris gayle also rated ahmad shahzad highly, as well as simon doull of new zealand.
I am not convinced, whether he has stardom capabilities or not....
But definately can be handy for us in limited overs cricket
I think the ''attitude'' is much needed in the current bunch of wussies.
Thread title was amended by mods...
Shezza the little Angel was the original title....
In honour of his second ODI Ton at 19!!
Seems a long time ago.
I want to see him play an innings without premeditating all the time before I get too excited
In T20 its common for batsmen to premeditate.
He's a brilliant young batsmen who deserves a long long run in the team. So many pundits and ex cricketers see the talent within him.
I've spoken to many young domestic cricketers to e.g. Umar Amin & Shan Masood and they both rate Shehzad as the number 1 young cricketer in PAK.
He truly is special and I believe if he didn't get run out today, he would have had a ton as he usually scores big once set.
Depends if mr attitude stays off the booze..

We want ''Shezza the little angel'' title back.
Lol. Why..??
Should be shezza the new master blaster!
He has a bit of problem with his brain , thinks too highly of himself already .
Shezza the little Angel has a better ring to it...
He's the youngter and he's always well behaved... Couldn't hurt a fly![]()
Has he been overhyped yet ? I'd go for new Ponting. :umarakmal
Just need to sort out his temperament and learn to rotate the strike v spin (not try to go too 'hard'), otherwise has all the shots and should be persisted with.
We tried lobbying the mods a while back to no effect...
Hopefully they'll be more welcoming this time...?
some fans as expected getting over-excited by one T20 inns against some mediocre T20 bowlers.
Good for him but I will wait for him to become a more regular member of the side . Umar Akmal also needs to stop thinking he is a superhero .Correction, he used to think too highly of himself. I can seriously see some improvement from before, he's realised his attitude is in the way of his cricket.

This is the best I've seen him in international cricket but let's be honest, he historically scores against weaker attacks - there were no big names in this SA side and the wicket was absolutely dead. I'm not wanting to take too much credit away but will wait to see how he looks against the challenges ahead before joining the bandwagon.
He was looking AWFUL during that WC 2011.
yeah like no ones had a bad patch in their career before..![]()
yeah since 1906, give him a break his just starting his career..
He was developing well, had decent tours of New Zealand and West Indies with the LoI line-ups but as usual you dumped him on the back of a failure or two.
