Ahmed Shehzad - A star in the making

The same Kyle Abbott who got 11 wickets against us, the same Peterson who was troubling our batsman, the same kleintveld who our batsman were struggling to face, only difference was the pitch, but if gul can get 5-6, then either our batsman were brilliant or their bowlers were pathetically rubbish. Tbh, some of the bowling wasn't that bad, yes there were real lose bowls but some credit needs to be given to our batsman, they utilised them well.

The T20 game is not the same as test cricket.

Can't be compared

Not surprised he isn't in the squad. Just like Umar he isn't exactly what Misbah likes, the arrogance/confidence of Shehzad and Umar doesn't rub well with Misbah.

Looks like PCB doesn't like little angels.

^ Hahahaha
Honestly though, Shehzad should have been in the squad
But Farhat had done well lately in the intl. arena and that's what cost Shehzad

shehzad is gonna have to wait for farhat to perform badly and be chucked out, and tbf how often is farhat gonna get flukey 90s? not very often, so he is next in line, him and umar akmal need to hang in there and try there best to perform in domestic, cuz they will get a chance inshallah.

i have said it many times before and i will say it again

i truly reckon we will never seen Ahmed Shezhad under a misbah captaincy. It wont happen. When farhat fails , azhar will probably be called up

I will probably get slated for this but I rate him higher than Jamshed.

At least he has the work ethic to keep himself fit and focuses on fielding, a very un-Pakistani cricketer he is.

Has got good aggression as well. Should be drafted into the ODI setup ahead of Imran Farhat and it won't be long before he cements his place in the team.

one of the worst young batsman technically in Pakistan and yes I know the rest are also mediocre at best but this guy plays with cement feet like none other.

Aggression is disliked by Misbah therefore Jamshed, Umar & Shehzad have been dropped.

Technique is not the only criteria. Look at Sehwag and Jayasuria and you are certainly exaggerating. His technique isn't bad.

I am with you too. I rate shehzad way higher than Nasir because shehzad has proven his worth in foreign tours. Nasir is slow in the field and this CT may prove that he is a FTB (i hope i am wrong)

Jamshed is a typical Pakistani cricketer. Talented but having no awareness of the importance and value of fitness, fielding and running between the wickets.

well ur not gonna get slated by me. I agree with you 100%.
we have a lot of typical Pakistani batsman in the side, this guy is kinda different from the rest, hes shown it by making two ODI centuries out of the sub continent in 19 matches, which is excellent. Jamshed may have 3 centuries, which is excellent too but all three are in the sub continent against india too, so the comparison is clear but people don't want to believe it.

We need this star for the whole WI tour...

Inshallah

i see him as a captaincy material he has got that flait that banter that old swagger which i have seen in our team in 90s hope he gets a called back in the team and he performance well according to his expectations

We need this star for the whole WI tour...

When is that tour? Iv checked our future fixtures and there is no cricket of any shape or form scheduled for the next six months . Can someone please clarify? No dates for West Indies tour that I can find.

The dates are not finalized yet for the matches but Pakistani team will go to WI on 7 July and both teams will play 2 T20's in Miami, USA...

Two centuries as a nineteen year old. ....then left to fend for himself...

I'm not fully convinced of his capabilities but you can't argue eighth the two centuries.

He should be in or around the team.

Today Little Shezza came of age....

At the tender age of 19 he has scored his second ODI century....

Only 17 Pakistani players have ever scored more centuries than this 19 year old.

It showed a level of maturity that we have not seen from many youngsters that have debuted for Pakistan....

Long may it continue!

:littleang

So two years after the Shezza made his mark. ..he finally gets a chance to prove himself

hope this time no screw ups from him

He will screw up as he is younh anf learning.

Important thing is that he has shown ability to score big.

Only averages 26 which shows how long he has to to go before being decent

Code:
 102 2 stumped 2 W 2nd ODI v WI in WI 2011 at Gros Islet [3153]
   0 2 caught wk 2 W 3rd ODI v WI in WI 2011 at Bridgetown [3154]
   6 2 caught 1 L 4th ODI v WI in WI 2011 at Bridgetown [3155]
   9 3 bowled 1 L 5th ODI v WI in WI 2011 at Providence [3156]

These are his last 4 innings in ODIs.... he was dropped after 3 single digit scores .... when he had scored a brilliant 100 in the previous one.

IQ/Misbah and co... gave 67 chances to Malik.... and batsmen like Ahmdeh and Umar Akmal could not survive 3 chances?

I think ... our selectors and captains like Misbah have loooooooooooong way to go before being decent and fair in selection policies.

hes a brilliant talent, needs to start living up to it, and this 2 year break hes had may have learnt him quite a bit.

well all the talk has ended... it time shehzad shows us what he is made up of. He should get adequate chances not two failures and drop and in those chances shehzad should show the ability to score.

He was treated extremely unfairly.

A 19 year old kid with two centuries. ... You can't buy that.

But fact is he is still unproven. He hasn't even reached "decent" as far as practical output is concerned.

Ho does one prove himself???? Like Sir Jadeja....... after a million chances?

Or like Shekhar Dhawan...... who came in with a big bang?

You have to be given opportunities. When you show glimpses you have to be given more.

Upside potential.
Propensity to improve.

They are the two Key ingredients to monitoring progress.

Two centuries at nineteen shows his capabilities. His upside potential.

To have to take a two year break after that is ridiculous.

When a good selection is made, Selectors or the coach are responsible for it.
When a bad selection is made, Misbah is responsible for it.

Misbah prefers experience usually. Doesn't like loose canons.

Just because Umar Akmal was dropped under his captaincy?

Based on my experience of watching him over the years.

Misbah is the consummate professional. He wants to take Pakistan forward. He wants to stop the paindoo way of managing things.

Hence the team come first. You have to go with the plan. Loose canons he doesn't like.

Asad,Azhar and Junaid have established themselves in Test Cricket under Misbah's captaincy.

All of them are youngsters and are the best players in our Test Team.

But just because he dropped magic boy Umar Akmal all of you label him as someone who does not want youngsters to succeed.

Read carefully.

I did not say youngsters.

I said loose canons.

Lets hope hes pretty poor technic and tempremant has improved a lot on this recall.

Don't understand why pak fans don't see that Shehzad has the footwork and technique of a statue.

I think his technique is pretty bad.... hoping he improves.

He premeditates too much for my liking.

Talk about his technique...

i think all doubts will be cleared about it in this tour.... if if he doesnt score much we will see how he is batting. although now that we are trying the jamsheed and shehzad combo i really hope they will get sufficient games and will be given a proper chance. i dont want to see shehzad on the bench after one failure.

misbah sed he'll make shehzad open with nasir and give him the full chance.

Yup Misbah said that it will be :nasir :ahmed n :hafeez the prefect technique will be no.3 the new :yk

There is a reason why such a gifted stroke maker averages so low and has such a poor SR.

The guy just can't get any starts before after a dozen games he gets a hundred. That isn't good enough.

He needs to get those 30's and 40's as well as well as a few 50's.

I can't blame Misbah for this. He was the same under Afridi too..

Persist with him and He will come good. Its just been 2 games and he was unlucky in the 1st.

If farhat . Malik, kamran, and even hafeez is persisted than why not him i beleive he will score big

This guy should be given a long run. He's come back better after that world cup and he has the ability to help us win matches. Hopefully he'll actually use that ability...sooner rather than later.

Check his FC record you will notice the same pattern bunch of nothing scores followed by a big one.

Let him be for a year, he'll come round.

Otherwise hold your peace with Farhat and co.

It's up to the selectors which policy they want to follow, but I would prefer batsmen like Shezad and Umar Amin to be given a good run in the side as these guys play with a good straight bat which has a chance of succeeding outside the sub-continent.

Should be given remaining matches of the series. If he fails, he needs to be dropped.

Every youngster deserves time not ONLY him. They work hard in domestic and score runs and in return they get only 2 or 3 inconsistent chances? Ahmed Shehzad is not a special case. Everyone should be treated equally.

Players like him should be persisted with who can bring the aggression to this game, we desperately need players like shahzad, umer akmal and junaid who have AAG inside them... I wish him to start performing , it will be good for Pakistan in long run

Ahmed Shahzad's batting!

Ahmed Shahzad seems very fragile in this series not sure if his batting skills have dramatically gone below par or he is in extense pressure in this series

He was almost out in today's game had Gayle not dropped his catch he could be out under 20 runs today.

One of the major problem I have seen in him is that he offers catches in form of nicks alot, this is a very bad sign for a openner !

Any thought ?

He kind of reminds me of Sehwag toward the last year of his career. Bit reckless with little success.

That said, he's still not out today and although he's gotten a reprieve, he can make it count with a half-century or something.
