Ahmed Shehzad - A star in the making

Only a matter of time before Sohail Tanvir averages more with the bat than Ahmed "world class" Shehzad.

How much is the difference at the moment? 12 points?
 
^ The only thing in the making for Shehzad is the certification of a TTF. :farhat
 
The thing in the making thats coming for Shehzad, is a drop for the ODI series against SA.
 
I concide time to move on. T20 cricketer only at this stage. Since he is playing this slow you might as well bring back Azhar Ali. I would also keep Azam and Manzoor in the loop, perhaps even sharjeel

Azhar Ali I still doubt will ever be a batsman who can maintain a strike career rate of 70, but given our current predicament and the fact there is little else he will be the best choice now I admit. Either him or Khurram Manzoor depending on how he goes in tests

Another failure for him. Has only played one decent knock in the seven ODI games since his comeback. Drop him I'd day , if he fails in the last game.

Azhar Ali from what I have of him as an ODI opener, is able to find the gaps in the PP overs and hit fours. The biggest problem of our current openers.

His problem is once the field restrictions are over, he gets bogged down and he can't rotate strike for life.

But he is probably the best in the country to have in the first 10 overs.
 
Has this guy ever topped the domestion OD batting charts? If he hasn't then there are better options and we should move on. Should be in the T20 side though. :in

Why the hate? It wasnt the longest knock but he was unlucky and saw off the new ball which is why Hafeez/Jamshed are now cashing in. Shehzad is a great team player.

Shehzad used to be very aggresive before I am sure his was sr was in the 90s mostly before but Misbah ruined that. However his knock today was decent.
 
Lol.. For T20s yes may be a star in the making provided he carries his form like this for some years consistently but not in ODIs!! He is ordinary in ODIs and should be dropped immediately!!

His strike rate was 67 before he had even played a single game under Misbah.

Come on what has Misbah to do with his approach! Actually his ODI record isnt that good! So for improving that he is trying to be much defensive!! And this defensive thing will make his record worse!!
 
So what? Afridi was also a poor captain and oppressed Ahmed. We saw how well Ahmed played under Hafeez in the T20s, make Hafeez captain than see how Ahmed performs in ODIs as well.

That's always been my issue with him I just didn't think we could get so bad

I would personally want Babar Azam but I doubt that will happen in the immediate future

Manzoor though what I have seen of him is better against spin

I would tell Azhar and Manzoor who ever does better in the test series will get the next odi spot

Rizwan could be another option if we want a keeper

I'm repeating myself for the umpteenth time now, he's mediocre and slow. Just keep him for the T20 stuff and try another opener at his position.

Nope. His List A average is in mid 30s.

Shehzad has been given the longest run in the side. No youngster had this luxury. Pretty unfair on those players. Shehzad should expelled from the team.
 
well if he fails third ODI, he should be dropped, but not for Sharjeel as it will be v SA, hard team to make your debut against, maybe he could play v SL. For SA series, to replace him it would either be Azhar Ali or Kamran Akmal (depending on whether UA is fit to keep)

he has passed his time and pak dont need to look back to him , pak has had some worst moments with this useless keeper, ended carrers of many bowlers ,
if :kami is in team then call malik ,farhat , arafat, and others in team too why should they sit out
now u will argue we dont have good wicketkeeper who can bat , we hav umar akmal so thats more then enough , he is absolutely better keeper then him and will do job till end of 2015 WC if jamal or any other doesnt click

I'm not a fan of keeping players in hoping they perform. Give matches to the youngsters who came in the team and performed. Azhar performed finds himself out, Fawad performed again finds himself out. Even Umar at a point in his career. Why do we rather give long runs to guys who fail because we think they might get it right eventually over guys scoring at the present "against odds on their apparent talent". Makes no sense. Perhaps guys like Azhar and Fawad are just better, point blank.

We've done this a lot over the years that is why we've got so many passengers in the side. Shehzad's not performed over so many chances. He's so young too, he can go back work hard and come back better. But no we're happy carrying him. Even Shahzaib who I don't rate was chucked after 3 ODIs averaging 33. That wasn't fair. Yet Shehzad continues to get a run.

You want to create competition and an environment where people have to compete regularly and perform regularly to stay in the side. Cementing your place in the side should not be easy, it should be difficult. You need to earn your run in the side via early performances. Otherwise you go back to domestic, work hard to get another chance and come back a stronger player. The youngsters that rise to the challenge will be tougher for it too.
 
Why is everyone after him? He was okay today and has a lot of potential, his stats speak for himself. Lets first get rid of Safraz and Afridi instead of trying to get rid of stars like Ahmed.

Lol keep whinging, Shehzad has friends in the right places(even Dav loves him) and he will be in team for a long team even if he averages 0 so get used to it. Your little friend Shahzaib wont make it to the team even if keeps performing in meaningless domestic matches. Shehzad is here to stay and you better respect that. Only lame players with no connections have to score to stay in the team, Shehzad is better than that.

don't call back Kamran if Umar is fit to keep, I only want him in the side if one of our opener has to be dropped and Umar Akmal can't keep given everything that's happened

He has been given a long enough run. Time to move on as so far he has shown zero potential in ODI since his comeback. TBH the next game should hold little sway at his axing.

But according to cars112, he is a 'monster' talent and him and Nasir Jamshed are the 2 best young batsman in the world right now, better than all other youngsters.

Absolutely. When Shikhar Dhawan stole the show in the Champions Trophy, each one of his innings were flukes (according to that mahaan poster). But now this brilliant youngster has player 2 good T20 innings against the greatest attack in the world and he's this 'monster' talent, LOL.

Ahmed needs to realize if he has any sort of talent he needs to work on it. A genius is 1 percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration. So far he has shown nothing except that he is not an aggressive player.

Ahmed Shahzad should go back to domestic cricket and improve his batting..doesn't look ready for international cricket yet..it's not a platform to learn it's a place to deliver and show how good you are.

It's acceptable for an opener to be defensive at start but his innings today has kept on getting slower :facepalm:

Look at his strike rate which is understandable because he's playing such a world class bowling attack.

He isn't selfish, he is just rubbish.
 
This could be his day. Has settled in nicely, comeon Shehzad play through the innings and do not throw away the foundation built
 
In before Shehzad fan boys label this innings as mature and sensible. Same people who criticize Misbah.
