What's new

Ahmed Shehzad's selfish batting is stretching the goodwill of Pakistan fans!

Guys who are actually comparing utter dross like Shehzad in ODIs to Babar ought to be ashamed of themselves

My thoughts exactly- how anyone can compare the two is beyond me.

Same batting style, similar physical strength, both like to get stuck in between and score selfish 100s.. and now both of them play at a similar strike rate too

:)))

Thanks for the laugh.

I'll tell you what. Let's park this discussion for a while and then come back to it in a few years.

My prediction: Babar will end up as one of the best batsmen Pakistan has ever produced.

Your prediction: Ahmed Shehzad and Babar Azam will end up with similar careers- ie. TTFs. Just writing that made me laugh.

Mark this post- we'll see who is right. I swear, it's like taking candy from a baby.

Indicators are there, you have to look at the longest format for those signs... He's even struggling against his favorite side in the longer format.. eventually will get exposed just like Shehzad was, once teams work on him find his weaknesses same as happened with Shehzad..

Honeymoon period lasts only so long

Prepare yourself for a lot of humble pie over the coming years when you choose to post drivel like this. I've seen an excessive amount of Babar hate over the past few months but in the words of Sunil Gavaskar - this doesn't take the cake, it takes the bakery!

Alot of Pakistani players that start off well, taper towards the middle part of their career, Babar is no different, his presence was negligible in Champions Trophy, and he has failed to do anything significant besides his innings against the WI...

His performances in the Test Matches speak for themselves, in 13 innings he has only 1 50 against the WI.. he was a failiure in Australia too..
his record in England speaks for himself. (ODIs)
All in all a typical flat track bully.

I am waiting for him to be exposed even further just like Shehzad

What indicators are there ?

Babar Azam has achieved more in the handful of games he's played than Shehzad has in his entire career. He's playing better cricket than Shehzad has at any stage of his career and trust me, I've watched both these players from Day 1.

He's the No.5 ranked batsman in ODIs, breaking records.

He's scored in almost every series he's played to date.

All of this and he's 22 years old. We're talking about leagues of difference between these 2 players.

Conveniently over-playing Babar's test stats won't last for long either - never mind the fact that his 90* on a green mamba in NZL is arguably better than anything Shehzad has produced in the longer format.

You can be awestruck by his 70 against NZ 2 years ago, or his centuries against WI and Australia... but I don't see anything special in a type of player we already haven't seen and produced before.. this guy just has the benefit of playing in the top 3 without impudity, fail the Test Matches, compensate in ODIs, retain your place.. just like the free ride Amir gets, any sort of perofmrance in any format is a criteria for retention in all 3 formats

That green mamba was a flat belter on 2nd and 3rd day... that was a pretty flat track once the newness of the ball subsided..

The kid has shown weakness against any sort of pitch with bounce in it... even Jason Holder was getting him out in his later innings vs West Indies, a guy with a bowling average of 40

Can you see the future? How do you know this?

Babar hasn't just "started of well", his start to his ODI career is as good as any in the history of the game. He's scored ODI runs everywhere - not just WI; of course - someone who compares him with Shehzad would conveniently forget this.

Instead of posting sweeping-statements like this, why don't you do a bit of research on Babar's ODI career so far? You'd find he's scored runs against pretty much everyone he's played...

Ahhh the excuses. As I said, keep preparing them. I'll be waiting to read them over the years; "pitch was flat, he got lucky, bat is too thick, bowler was injured, batting while taking steroids".

He came to the crease at 1-7 and showed defiance until stumps where his team was 5-51 and cashed in the next morning. 90* out of a total 216 showing defence and attack.

Of course, if you had actually watched the match you'd know this.

The discussion isn't about whether he's "special" or not.

You initiated it when you stated he is the same calibre of player as Shehzad and that he hasn't scored runs against anyone other than WI.

A horrible, one-dimensional batsman. Utterly useless but he has cemented his place for the next series. Tragic.

Cant think of anything worse then shezi and azhar ali or shezi/babar at the crease in ODIs eating up dot balls and wasting the start of the inns.

Would have been so interesting to see Umar Akmal oprning as he's really good against seam and swing. I remember only he was able to play Usman Shinwari when he burst in the scene swinging it miles!

Ahmed Shehzad is Pakistani Dinesh Chandimal.

He will be kept in the side for long periods of time, until an odd performance will make him stay for the next stretch of barren run.

Sarf cannot kick him out, he is too powerful to be influenced like that.

Please convey your thoughts about Babars 100 yesterday at a strike rate of 76 or still eating the humble pies :)))

Easily the most selfish player I have ever seen in my life. This guy just never plays for the team and his teammates.

but but but it will be bad for pakistan in the long run :))) :))) :livid:

you can't make it up...

Lmao come out of hiding already. These Shehzad fans always et so excited when he gets lucky. Been saying for years that he is awful for the team in the long run. Garbage, selfish, mediocre batsman and his fans need to have some shame too

Poor Shehzad haters are having panic attacks. Shehzad looked good all these 3 games was just about time he went on to get a big score. Watching Shehzad and Fakhar bat today you can tell a difference between a people batsmen and a hit and miss player. If Shehzad struggled like Fakhar did today their would been threads made calling for his head.

:))) shameless Shehzad fans. Absolutely clueless. With him opening we start with a disadvantage
