I tried to get him in but could not.

I could have brought Aravinda in place of Atapattu, but Aravinda never opened.

I cound have brought him in place of Dilshan, but an SL ODI XI without Dilshan is something I cannot even think of.

Do you think I should have dropped Angelo to accommodate Aravinda?

How come someone who helped SL win their only WC is not on the team?

You can very easily drop Attapatu who was anyways too slow for ODIs and open with ATG opener Dilshan. Aravinda bats at #4.

You havent seen arvinda d silva bat ever... seems you have no idea.

Desilva is a must in ODI's.

Drop Atapattu the tuk tuk master and open with Dilshan and Jayasuriya.

This way Aravinda will fit in the squad.

The all time Lankan team can match up with any All time team of any country.

Sangakkara (wk)- all class

Jayawardene- scrapes in for home value

Aravinda D Silva- world class batsman

Arjuna Rantatunga (c)- saved his best for the best and always fights & put a price on his wicket away from home.

Angelo Matthews- allrounder needed for balance. Solid contributor in both departments but not necessarily a match winner in either.

M.Muralitharan- amazing spinner to watch.

Charminda Vaas- very, very smart & skilful operator

Rangana Herath- this guy is like a great but overlooked movie, that reveals more each time you actually sit down & watch it.

Lasith Malinga- was a real handful in his prime, with an unusual angle and that "ball disappears behind the back" moment in his action that batsmen find so disconcerting when combined with pace.

This one almost perfect - I'll take 10 out of 11 with 1 change. First that batting order needs little change. But, the bigger change is that I won't take Ajantha Mendis - guy started unbelievably well, still probably holds fastest 50 wicket, but not sure if he had reached 100. Besides, that side has 4 off spinners - conventional, mystery, indifferent ... there are 4 - Murali, Hari, Dilshan and Ajantha. I'll replace the last one with Somchandra De Silva, the leggi. DS de Silva was a fantastic leg spinner, who played long years in minor Counties and represented SRL probably till his mid 40s. Since he played in Minor Counties, his stats are not listed under FC or List A, but he was a legend of SRL cricket in his right; could bat as well. 3 pacers, backed by Arjuna and a very good all-round spin attack makes the team much balanced.
