My All Time International twenty20 Team :-

Chris Gayle
Brendan McCullam
Virat Kohli
Kevin Pietersen
Michael Hussey
Shane Watson
MS Dhoni (c/WK)
Daniel Vettori
Umar Gul
Lasith Malinga
Samuel Badree
12th man- Shahid Afridi

I'll take Ajmal over vettori since you are obviously considering players when they were at their best (which means chucking ajmal)

MS Dhoni was and is substandard T20 player and I would replace Vettori with Lala.

Also what is dhoni doing in a t20 international team. Make mcculum keep and bring in an explosive batsman

Replace kevin peterson with marlon Samuels. Guy has ATG t20i knocks in the most pressure situations of knockouts.

Also replace dhoni with somebody else. There haven't really been great wk batsmen in t20i so far. Maybe a quinton de kock?

You can make AB devilliers the wk but he too has poor record in t20i. But personally i would pick him over dhoni in t20i.

Dhoni should not be there. Give McCullum the gloves and add Yuvi.

Ajantha Mendis in place of Vettori. Dhoni, KP don't make the team based on international performances. Would replace KP with Marlon. He's a t/20 ATG. For Dhoni, I would bring in Lala. He offers good fielding, great bowling and terrific slogging down the order. Dhoni doesn't even have a t/20i 50.

I want VK to be there too but maybe just not yet.

Shane Watson
MS Dhoni (c/WK)

Umar Gul
Lasith Malinga
Samuel Badree
12th man- Shahid Afridi

What is dhoni doing here or shane watson? Bring in ajmal in place of badree and afridi in place of watson...

Pre-ban Ajmal was a better bowler than all the bowlers who have in your side, and by pre-ban I mean the 2009 Ajmal not when he was banned all the way in 2013 or something.

1. Chris Gayle
2. Adam Gilchrist
3. Viv Richards
4. Virat Kohli
5. AB Devilliers
6. Shane Watson
7. Shahid Afridi
8 .Sunil Narine
9. Wasim Akram
10. Lasith Malinga
11. Mitchell Starc

What a team.

Sure,no arguments there, but this thread is for those who have played T20I's and have a large sample size of matches(in Gilchrists case)

The thread just says "All Time T20 International XI" nothing about a player should have played T20I or not. I just selected who I thought would be the best regardless if they have played the format at all.

No such thing as "all time" for a format that isn't even a decade old. However the best T20 players thus far are:

1) Gayle
2) Dilshan
3) Kohli
4) KP
5) Hussey
6) Dhoni (c) (wk)
7) Afridi
8) Gul
9) Malinga
10) Steyn
11) Ajmal

2014. Ajmal from 2009 to 2013 was an amazing LOI bowler. The skill of Saqlain, flair of Warne and was a one-man army like Murali.

I would pick this as a fifteen man squad

Gayle
Dilshan
Kohli (c)
Sangakkara (wk)
Watson
Russell
Bravo
Afridi
Badree
Narine
Malinga

Reserves:
McCullum
Shakib
Mendis
Gul

The first choice XI has great depth in hitting down to number 8. It also has four pace options and three spinners plus two useful part timers in Gayle and Dilshan, effectively fitting in 8 batsmen and 9 bowlers into one team. This strength in depth both batting and bowling wise all but ensures that even if some key batsmen or bowlers have an off day, someone will show up and save the day with a matchwinning knock or spell. Shakib and McCullum on the bench can be used to lengthen the batting order if needed, Gul and Mendis are pace and spin alternatives to the first choice bowlers in case of loss of form, injury or suspension.

I have picked a side heavy on West Indian and Sri Lankan cricketers because these two sides have been the most successful at the World T20, with 3 titles from five appearances in the final of the tournament between them.

Dhoni was never great in T20 internationals. He's similar to AB in that he has a very good record in the IPL but a weak one in T20Is.

Where are the English? No Alex Hales, Jason Roy, Ben Stokes or Jos Buttler?

Where are the English? No Alex Hales, Jason Roy, Ben Stokes or Jos Buttler?

The same Ben Stokes who got blasted for four sixes in the final over of a T20 WC?

Or same Ben Stokes who lowly Pakistan blasted to all parts in his home country?

Ben Stokes is highly MEDIOCRE in T20 cricket. His reputation is greater than he really is.

Buttler deserves to be there, however Hales/Roy are not good enough to displace the openers in the side presented in the OP. Root perhaps makes a case for himself for inclusion, but again all the peeps in the OP are better than him. Nobody in their right mind would have Root over Kohli in a T20.

Almost everyone is leaving out the GOAT.

All players you mentioned are excellent players but are you sure they can feature in Best XI ????

Need a captain and keeper though. I was thinking of picking Kamran as my keeper but there were no other viable captaincy options.

Time to remove Dhoni from the team...He can't even find gaps...
I think he will finish without having a single fifty.

1. Gayle
2. McCallum
3. Kohli
4. Pietersen
5. Samuels
6. Yuvraj
7. Watson
8. Afridi
9. Gul
10. Malinga
11. Badree

There are at least 10 better keepers batsman than Dhoni in t20 internationale.

McCullum can keep. I would even have QdK basis potential. Or ABD.

All time T20 XI from 90s, player who never played any T20 tournament/cricket

Legends like Jayasuriya, McGrath, Sachin, Warne etc played IPL but what about dynamic players of the past who retired early and never had the chance to show their skill in T20s.

Saeed Anwar
Mark Waugh
Aravinda
Lara
A Flower+
Bevan
Klusener
Wasim
Saqlain
Donald
Ambrose

Walsh, S Waugh, Kaluwithrana+, A Jadeja

* Only downside is the 2x chokers in playing XI

Gayle
Warner
McCullum (capt + wk)

Will slide in some mystery spinner in place of Malinga on turning pitches.

Mcullum ahead of Butler imo. He's a superior batter and keeper. No disrespect to Butler, Butler should defo come as the 2nd choice.

1) Gayle
2) Mcullum (WK)
3) Kohli
4) KP
5) AB
6) Micheal Hussey
7) Sunil Narine

Watto provides additional bowling.
AB was a timid kitten in t20is.
Hussey apart from 2-3 innings didn't do much as a finisher in t20is. didn't have the hitting range of Maxwell either.

Don't think 6 bowlers are needed for t20. The 5( Narnine, Afridi, Starc, Bumrah, Gul) will be enough

I back hussey in icc tournaments. He can play crucial gems. Agree on ab but I feel potential wise he can implode at any moment.

I forgot to add Marlon Samuels.

He is definitely a T20 ATG. Played 2 top knocks in 2 different World T20 finals (Windies won both).

6 bowlers are the way to go IMO. any one bowler can have an off day. Plus on South African, English and Australian surfaces, having a 4th seamer can be comforting.

In t20 4 bowlers are required to fill the quota not 5. In odi yes 5 bowlers are required.

In T20, 4 frontline bowlers are good enough. Other 4 overs can be bowled by part-timers/all-rounders.

Part-timers should be good enough and ready to bowl up to 8 overs (combined).

Everyone on this thread has picked Gayle and Gul. It's really interesting to see. They are really the undisputed T20I GOATs. Even Malinga's case can be argued.

1. Gayle
2. McCullam
3. Watson
4. KP
5. Samuels
6. Maxwell
7. Hafeez
8. Afridi
9. Gul
10. Malinga
11. Bumrah

Hafeez's bowling was unbelievably economical and was a monster against lefties.

Hugely underrated A/R in this format.

Phil Salt
Glen Maxwell
Harry Brook
Suryakumar Yadav
Dinish Karthik
Rashid Khan
Umar Gul
Tim South
Jasprit Bumrah

Gayle really doesn't make it ahead of Munro, Buttler or Salt?

Nope, not for me unfortunately. I understand they’re from different eras, but both Phil Salt and Jos Buttler have better averages and strike rates. With Colin, it’s more about the strike rate, and Gayle is more of a hit-or-miss player, similar to Afridi.

Who is Samuel Badree ? You were picking a good team until you reached this very average cricketer Badree who was not a regular even in his own team, funny.

Many West Indies players were not regulars but that was because they preferred franchise cricket over international duties.

Having said that, I agree with you that Badree shouldn't be in an ATG team.

I have this team in Mind:
