We got Pakistani origin people on this forum from so many different countries, I was wondering if we got any from New Zealand?

So according to wiki there are only like 8000 Pakistanis in NZ, that's a really small community.

Well i spent 5 years there, went to high school and started uni there before moving to Australia.

Beautiful country and amazing people!

I still have many friends there and most Pakistanis who live there totally love the country.

I was born in Auckland and spent the first 10-11 years of my life there.

People are absolutely wonderful, it's a stunning country.

NZ has a small population in general therefore a small Pakistani community is understandable. Indians and Pakistanis are soon going to take over the country. I'm sure of it.

Bhai go to even small African countries and you are bound to find Indian and Pakistanis there. WE ARE EVERYWHERE.

Did you hear the one about Neil Armstrong? He stepped on to the moon, planted the flag, said the famous words (one small step, blah blah blah), and then went bouncing around on the lunar surface. He crested a hill, and then went bounding down it. When he got to the end, there were two Pakistanis sitting there, smoking. They took one look at him, said something sarcastic in Urdu, and then carried on smoking.

I have my kids convinced that this is what really happened. One of them even told his science teacher Armstrong wasn't the first man on the moon.

Yup I saw quite a few Pakistanis in Madagascar

What were you doing in Madagascar lol

From what I've heard New Zealand sounds like a wonderful place. Definitely on my list of places to visit in the future.

I honestly don't think this is correct, there are surely a lot more Pakistanis here than that. We are having a census soon, so that might have a much better idea.

The biggest problem for NZ is that it's proximity to Australia. It's a wonderful, tolerant country, probably at par with Canada, but it's at one corner of the world, almost isolated from developed world. Many of my friends & relatives actually moved to NZ in 90s - most of them are now in Australia :( I traveled once there (Auckland) & enjoyed the nice, calm metro life. Then I found that it's 1.3mn population is actually 35% of NZ!!!!

White people are leaving NZ for AUS & West (& east to Canada/USA) & their birth/growth rate is much lower - it's indeed possible that in 50 years time New Zealand will be a Chinese majority country, followed by South Asian (Mostly Indian, most from Gujrati community), with white being minority, and Maoris almost extinct.

Wiki is not a good source of info. If you read from Wiki about Pakistanis in Canada it will give you a few hundred thousands but the number is clearly a lot larger than that, possibly in the millions. This discrepancy is maybe because when they state Pakistanis they only state those people who have Pakistani passports but the reality is alot of desis have dual nationality like yours truly. Most have only Canadian passports and when they want to travel to Pakistan they use NICOP.

indians and pakistanis penetrated every where the british colonies went in africa as slave labourers to grow british plantations

the prisoners of freedom/rebellion war (1857) were sent to k ala pani as a punishment of going against british empire or east india company and were later sent to unknown places where ever british wanted to grow their plantation for instance malaysia, mauritius, zimbabwe, botswana, uganda, madagasker

but madagasker was also a reknowned trading post in the indian ocean, many arab traders sold african slaves to indians/indo pakistanis and still there are lots of indians/indo pakistanis who do good business in madagascar. many of them are muslims.

Sounds lit, I wanna visit someday.

What are race relations like in NZ, do whites, islanders and people of color get along? Is Islamophobia prevalent there?

Why do so many NZers move to Australia, is the economy there really that bad? I've heard it's so isolated that they got real slow internet connections, and the food and clothing isn't as good cause they're kinda behind the rest of the west.

Whoever is telling you this obviously doesn't know what he is talking about.

Australia has many more opportunities, and higher wages than New Zealand. What has previously been a major industry extracting and exporting raw resources has led to supporting other sectors of the Australian economy. I think this export industry has slowed due to lesser demand from China, but Australia can and will diversify into value added and technological sectors.

I was talking about New Zealand, I'm basing this off blogs written by Americans that have live there.

Took a 3 weeks road trip in South island last year. It was really worthwhile.

NZ is tiny country with small economy. Lots of folks from NZ go to Aus for better opportunities.

Agreed, this is the main reaosn people (including my family) moved from NZ to Australia.

At around 2001/2002, thousands of people moved to Australia as NZ decided not to continue with travel arrangements made between the 2 countries where citizens could migrate freely with full entitlements to benefits in migrating country, Australia was the key beneficiary as most skilled migrants moved to Australia at first opportunity due to higher wages, better living standards, affordable housing and better higher education facilities.

That's not true. NZers moved due to better oppurtunities in Australia. However, in the past few years many of them have returned due to better oppurtunities back in New Zealand. Nothing wrong with internet, food, and clothing here.
