Lot of Pakistani national songs are very good. For example:

Aye Watan Pyare Watan by Ustad Amanat Ali Khan

Yeh Watan Tumhara Hai by Mehdi Hassan

Are Pakistani national songs better than Indian national songs in general? Can some Indian PPers post their national songs?

Naturally we will say ours is better and they will say there's. I don't listen to their patriotic songs so don't care about them.

Zameen Ki Goad by Mohammad Ifrahim:

Apna Parcham Aik Hai Apna Quaid-e-Azam Aik Hai by Shaukat Ali and Shazia.

I do genuinely feel that our tunes are lyrics are far better.

I have not listen to their so I cannot say for sure. But ours tunes and lyrics are definitely legendary and will be very hard to match.

Indian ones are awesome. Heard a ton of them before and they are very catchy and their meaning is something that is hard to put in words. Even our local languages have lots of patriotic songs which are absolutely beautiful.

Why are we even comparing national songs? Ofcourse, every nationality holds their own national songs in high esteem due to their emotional attachment.

Definitely Indian patriotic song are way better.
Indian national songs do a great job in including all languages, religion and cultures. There is no religious tone or use of just one language in Indian patriotic songs making it so better.

Aee mere pyare watan
Aae mere watan Ke logon
Maa tujhe salam
Mile sur mera tumhara (one of the best cinematography)

To Indians:

Come back and talk when you produce something like Dil Dil Pakistan.

Its surprising ive never heard indian patriotic songs. The Indians i know never played it

besides obv Pakistanis will say Pakistan and Indians will say India esp when most wouldnt have heard songs from the other side

Please share them your favourites. The comparison is about Poetry, Music and Singer.

Dil Dil Pakistan will most likely not make Top 10 Pakistan national songs. You really think Indian national songs are so inferior?

Even in India, nobody plays patriotic songs anymore apart from Independence day and republic day.

Did you come across a student playing this song?

The song, is from movie Naam released in 86 and became something of an anthem with the NRIs especially working in middle east longing for a glimpse of the motherland.

I doubt it has the same fan following among millennials.

i challenge all pakistanis to just listen maa tujhe saalaam by AR Rehman. if they dnt like it. i will do anything literally.
This one cant match with anything

Nope. Never heard.

Only Indian patriotc song ive heard is the AR Rehman one which akki posted. That too id forgetten but its a great song tbh. And there was this other song in the Shahrukh khan movie where he returns to india. (not sure whether it has a following as a patriotic song tho lol)

ive heard the national anthem in cricket matches.

I guess you are talking about ye Jo des Hai Mera. Though a good song it doesn't have the cult following of a patriotic song at least in India, not sure how NRIs feel about it.

How's it in Pakistan? Do they play patriotic song quite often or are they reserved for national days only?

Indians do not play patriotic songs unless it is Independence day or may be Republic day. That too they watch it if it is on tv. Our patriotism is restricted mostly to Cricket matches these days.

Yes they are played mostly on national days

But in recent years a lot of the famous songs are getting remakes (Coke Studio, Nescafe basement or Pepsi sponsored remake) so they end up getting a lot of publicity.

They are good songs in their own right so some folks give them a listen normally as well

There is no definite answer here, Indians will say their songs are better while Pakistanis will claim that our songs are better.

We have local languages as well with it's own patriotic flavour. Yours are "legendary" to you only not to me at all. No reason for me to listen yo yours.

Are you Pak or Hind? If Indian your songs are legendary to you only. The likes of "Dil dil Pakistan" is legendary for me that even Indian's copied.

Not patriotic Indian songs. Non patriotic songs are different like those of Rafi and Kishore were good.

While trying to find some Indian ones worth listening too and came across one oddly enough that merges Indian patriotism and cricket. It stars some big bollywood stars like Shahrukh khan, John abraham. Haven't heard this before but i thought it was catchy. Im guessing this came around 2007 world cup where India bowed out in the first round ? But yeah doesn't even compare with Dil dil.. Could someone tell me who's singing this one and when this came out.. ?

Below by Ar Rahman is nice to listen too. Maa tujhe Salam... This one does give me goose bumps..no joke.. Is it true that A.r rahman was really a hindu that converted to Muslim...? But again no Offense i like dil dil better..

I like rojas music. It has one good indian patriotic song called bharat humko jan se pyara he. It is so melodious and has beautiful tunes. Bhaghat singh's des mere des mere is awesome too.

Any indian patriotic song done by A r rahman is must listen for genuine music fans. He has done so many in his lifetime.

Yes this song has a huge fan following in south asian expatriates in the middle east who came here in the 80's. Reminds them of the past decade before telephone and cellphone made contact easier back home

Nothing beats Dil Dil Pakistan IMO.

Most of (both Indian/Pak) patriotic songs are cringe-worthy.

DDP is the only one which I'd proudly include in my car playlist.

More recent ones :

"Maa Thuje Salaam" by ARR has already been posted :

Roja - Bharat Hum ko Jaan Se Pyaara Hai

The original song is in Tamil, so I feel (since I get both lyrics) that version had more emotion. here's the

The original vande matram composed in the mother of all languages Sanskrit, mother of both Hindi and Urdu, nothing comes close to it

Mera rangde basanti chola
Har karam apna karenge
Desh mere desh mere meri shaan hai tu
And plenty more

How can we forget these two :

Mile Sur Mera Tumhara - One of the few songs that fully encompass the incredible diversity of the nation .

And

Saare Jahaan Se Achcha

This song boosting the Pakistani national cricket team has a very catchy tune, keeps playing in head.

some good songs in this thread but still no match of Aye Watan Pyare Watan by Ustad Amanat Ali Khan yet:
