Since the infamous upset against Zimbabwe, Pakistan team has been riding on its luck and fan prayers more than its performances aka "Qudrat Ka Nizam". The last minute qualification to Semi Finals in 2022 T20 WC and a nearly impossible win over New Zealand in the CWC 2023 after they amassed a mammoth total of 401 are glaring examples of it.
As we all know Pakistan T20 WC squad has already been announced but still there are a dozen of issues that question our World Cup preparation.
1. Who would be our openers in the T20 WC? With Saim struggling and Babar hinting at a sporadic shot at the opening slots. Things are still unsettled here with Fakhar and Usman as two other alternatives.
2. The Middle Order's shambolic form. The soft dismissals of guys like Azam Khan, Iftikhar Ahmed coupled with a slow start provided by Babar and Saim are too unconcerning for Pakistan as it lefts no choice but to promote Shaheen above Imad Wasim.
3.The Shadab Khan gamble: Being wildly out of form in the bowling department, the only utility left of Shadab is a explosive batter but even here is reminiscing us of Shahid Afridi who would explode once in a blue moon. Thus Pakistan team not only sacrifices a proper spinner like Abrar for Shadab but also becomes helpless to accommodate an extra batter like Usman Khan to reinforce our batting prowess.
4. The 3rd pacer conundrum: Shaheen and Amir are two certain picks in the playing XI but we still are not sure about the third pacer and the position from where he would start his spell. Would it be in powerplay or outside powerplay?
So besides these we have a number of other issues to address too.
But the thing is God help those who help themselves. So are we really well prepared for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 or still banking solely on the "Qudrat Ka Nizam"?
