The dark days since the World Cup final in 99. We have endured defeat after defeat. Nearly 20 years of mediocre players and ICC tournament flops. Last few years we nose dived into 9th place and being treated like a joke by the cricketing world.

And now this

Are we ushering in a new era, another epoch in Pakistan cricket history? Do we now finally have the mental strength and ability to beat the world in World tournaments?

We are marching towards the next world World Cup. Is this our time?

It can be if right players are picked up in right formats.

If despite so much set backs , bad domestic circuit , no teams visiting pakistan , still they manage to beat best of the countries , who have so much investment , it shows that pakistan can achive more

There is still talent on the bench like Haris sohail, Sharjeel (if he makes a comback), rumman raees, and a few others.

PSL has done wonders by finding hasan ali and shadab. Also giving captaincy experience to Sarfraz.

The squad is good in ODIs.

The one change I would make in the next series is get in Umar Amin for Shoaib Malik.

Otherwise, things are looking great.

Strong Pakistan is really good for the game. This win should produce more quality players from the country. Excellent performance in the whole tournament.

Generations in Cricket change very swiftly. I sense we have unearthed some very good gems like Fakhar, Shadab and Hasan during this tournament. We still need to produce better quality batsmen.

Pakistan definitely are a top 4/5 side at full strength.

I seriously think it is. just gotta form the batting order a bit better, and maybe move on from a few seniors, and I think and hope we will be strong contenders for 2019!

We've removed all the nonsense players aka Akmal, Wahab etc all the players that have had their day and should no longer come back and look what has happened. The injection of youth and new talent in Fakhar, Hasan, Shadab etc will only take us forward. Before tournament being #8 we'd of taken a semi final match but we've exceeded expectations and now the platform is set. Yes definitely a new era is embracing Pakistan cricket. The next stop is 2019 we can make a statement. Our players are ones who don't have mental scars of past as they have just arrived. They will take this amazing tournament and the momentum will inshallah drive them forward to further glory.

Test team needs to be looked at obviously after the departures of two stalwarts. If the two best batsman are not picked to replace them (obviously Fawad Alam and most probably Umar Amin) going by statistics and experience, then it definitely isn't a new era as the old era of favouritism is still in place and in my opinion will always be in place. I thought once Inzi became involved it would change but no. They also need to develop and bring in a quality fast bowling all rounder as this is something they fall short in. If they had this type of player established they would be a force to be reckoned with. There are some names who haven't lit the world up but need. Chance and experience for example Faheem Ashraf we saw glimpses in the Champions Trophy and other names mentioned such as Aamer Yamin so they just need to be nurtured. THey are most probably not ready for test match cricket but I don't know maybe just give them a few games out in the UAE where they are so strong and let them show us fans what they are truly like and if they have the talent and work ethic or not.

When we don't have some dumb chairman (wont be anytime soon as Sethi is returning)

then we'll be witnessing a new era in pakistan cricket
