Armed forces personnel among 15 martyred in blast at Quetta’s Pishin bus stop

QUETTA: At least 15 people were killed while 25 others were injured as a blast rocked Pishin stop area Balochistan province’s Quetta city, ARY News reported.

The blast occurred near a hospital at Pishin stop meters away from Frontier Corps Headquarters.

The blast was so huge that all the cars parked in the area caught fire, raising fears of a heightened death toll.

Police and rescue officials have reached the spot and have started rescue work and at least 25 injured were moved to Quetta’s Civil Hospital.

Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed that at least 15 people were killed while 25 others were injured in the blast in which a security forces’ vehicle was targeted.

Interior Minister Balochistan Sarfraz Bugti told ARY News that it was a huge blast but he cannot say anything about the cause of blast.

According to ARY News Quetta correspondent Mustafa Tareen, five of the injured victims are said to be in critical condition.

8 army jawans martyred in Quetta blast: ISPR

RAWALPINDI: According to the ISPR, eight Pakistan Army soldiers were martyred in the Quetta blast at Pishin Stop, on Saturday.

The official statement from the ISPR stated that among the 15 who had been martyred in the bomb blast, 8 were Pakistan Army jawans.

The bomb blast had taken blast a security forces’ vehicle at Pishin Stop. Seven civilians had also been martyred in the attack.

The death toll is feared to go up as some of those injured are said to be in critical condition.

The blast took place near Mehdi Hospital at Pishin Stop.

According to ISPR, an army truck was the main target of the terrorists.

The injured were rushed to Civil Hospital, where a state of emergency was declared.

The huge intensity of the explosion smashed windscreens of many vehicles parked near the blast site. Two cars, rickshaws and motorcycles caught fire after the blast.

Security forces reached the scene and cordoned off the area.

Reports stated that Independence Day celebrations were under way at nearby Ayub Stadium when the blast occurred.
