What's new

Arsenal FC | 2017-18 Season

It's not a fact. I don't think you understand the difference between a fact and an opinion. But that is typical of your typical 'fan' with their entitled and biased opinions which masquerade as 'fact'.

By the way Ozil didn't play in the community Shield against Chelsea.
But let's not let the facts get in the way.

Thanks for the correction. I'm happy to be on the side of professionalism and commercial good sense as exhibited by the Manager Arsene Wenger and the Board of Directors of Arsenal Football Club.

i'm sorry but Sunday was a massive improvement in the league, with or without Ozil.
Surely you understand that?

We were definsively stronger in this game and that's a fact too.
Ozil is a good player and I'm not saying he should be dropped BUT Ozil has to turn up more often in the big games otherwise he's not going to be as much of a loss to us as say Sanchez.
Ozil has to be dropped because our CM's are lightweight and one of them at least can't get around the pitch as he should, especially when we are playing just two in that part of the pitch.
Ozil is too good for this poor Arsenal squad, Germany have no problem playing him in massive international games.

Arsenal defender Calum Chambers has signed a two-year contract extension that will keep him at the club until 2021.

The 22-year-old England player, who spent last season on loan at Middlesbrough, joined the Gunners from Southampton for £16m in 2014.

He has made 60 appearances for the Premier League side, but has played one game so far this season.

Chambers won three caps for England, all coming in 2014.

A awful performance yesterday. But we're through to the next round at least.

Theo Walcott is the Mohammad Abdul Hafeez of Arsenal

So frustrating to watch, repeats the same mistakes over and over again. Always acts entitled but because of a few good moments everynow and then he has been allowed to continue despite over all having a career of medicority.

Both sides need to let go but seem to be unwilling to do.

Don't worry Liverpool can have him for £35m :)

Arsenal's Santi Cazorla says doctors told him he should be "satisfied" just to walk again after he contracted gangrene following an operation.

The 32-year-old Spain international last played in October 2016 and had ankle surgery two months later.

Despite eight operations, the wound did not heal and became infected.

Midfielder Cazorla told Marca the infection had "eaten" the Achilles tendon on his right leg, adding: "There was eight centimetres of it missing."

Despite several successful antibiotic treatments, there were fears the former Villarreal and Malaga player could lose his leg because of a blood infection.

His last operation was a reconstruction of the Achilles tendon on 29 May, with doctors grafting skin from his left arm - featuring a tattoo - to his right ankle.

Cazorla has since been on an intense rehabilitation programme and says he expects to be playing again in the new year.

He says he receives messages almost every day from compatriots Andres Iniesta, David Silva and David Villa.

"Everything that I have gone through has not been as simple an injury as people have believed," said Cazorla, who has won the European Championship twice and two FA Cups.

"They [the doctors] told me, if you get to walk again with your son in the garden, be satisfied."

Cazorla's injury problems started when he suffered a bone fissure in an international friendly against Chile in September 2013, and he became accustomed to playing with pain in his right foot.

He had knee surgery in December 2015, before surgery on a tendon injury in the plantar area a year later.

Maybe end of our title chances tomorrow with a defeat to Man City...

Add another to the lost column.

We got thrashed today by City. And we have to play Spurs next. :mv

What a rubbish player Coquelin is. Can win the ball back and has aggression . Other then that he offers nothing.

No one was expecting us to beat City so no surprise at today's result.

Another 2 years of this :mv

Great win against the Harry Kane team today... didn''t watch the match but a great result nonetheless :D

Brilliant performance today. Need to play like this more often though.

Mustafi was immense. Hope he stays .

Arsenal vs Spurs at Wembley I fancy Arsenal to do them there as well.

Fluke win for the one man team. The two lapses in concentration cost us big time, we had them on the ropes for 70% of the game.

What a signing Lacazette has been though - clearly better than the tripe that is Lukaku.

That was shocking from Arsenal. Sure they created a lot of chances and sure they played a lot of football in Manchester United's half, but they conceded from some poor mistakes and didn't convert from the umpteed clear cut chances they had. I actually thought Arsenal played better when it was 11 vs 11. It was a spectacular game to watch for the neutral like me though, so much edge of your seat action sequences but Arsenal have no one to blame but their awful defence. 4 4 2 suited them better in this game, shame that AW is now set on a 532 system and is very stubborn about it.

How the heck did Sanchez miss that chance from 2 yards out :uks

We were poor in the last 15 mins when United were down to 10 men. Welbeck should've played centrally with Giroud to receive crosses, instead of playing on the flank despite his ability to cross.

Who do Arsenal fans want to replace Sanchez and Ozil? It seems the club aren't even bothering with contract negotiations anymore and are resigned to the fact that both will leave for free in the summer?

Should be an easy win today one hopes!

two more mercenaries replacing the current two.

All players are mercenaries so what's your point ?

Are you so ideologically pure you withhold your labour from the Capitalist system ?

Arsenal in top 4 at the moment but not for long

Liverpool spend 75 million and we (Arsenal) spend 2 million on a 20 year old unproven Greek...

Tells you everything you need to know...

These rumours are all over the media today....

Arsenal need to get rid of Sanchez like we did Coutinho. 9 out of 10 times if a player wants to leave he will eventually succeed. This will leave Liverpool and Arsenal fighting over Lemar's signature as replacements for their two departed players. I think Lemar prefers L'pool according to most reports.

But Liverpool sold a player for £142 million. Arsene should bring someone in if Sanchez leaves his month.

Got to laugh at this now Lacazette hasn’t scored in seven.

Lukaku 16 goals and 5 assists, Lacazette 8 goals 4 assists.

This game where Lingard Milly rocked ended your season. Been a broken team since.

Once Lacazette gets his finishing sorted, he will become a prolific scorer. He is not elite but he is very good. A more complete player than Lukaku who is quite frankly garbage unless he is playing West Brom, Bournemouth or Stoke City.

Mourinho thought he had another Drogba on his hands, but he is not half the player the Ivorian was. Man United need to secure Griezmann or Dybala in the summer.

Arsenal has been a broken team for years now and nothing will change as long as Wenger is at the helm. I don't care anymore as long as he is around. Enough is enough.

Arsenal have been walking on thin ice for many years until the ice cracked last season. I dont think the morale in the camp is high either. Wenger might be getting too old for this game.

Lacazette was the definition of garbage last night and Lukaku put in a more complete performance at the Emirates than I've seen Lacazette do against a big side, playing a pivotal role in the goals.

Lacazette also seems to have fitness issues, Wenger doesn't trust him beyond the 70 min mark and now without a goal in 8.

Decent result yesterday. With our injures we couldn't afford to go gung ho .

Good decision to sell Coquelin. He isn't good enough. I hope he is replaced in this window.

Arsene should have quit at the end of last season. I think he has taken the team as far as he can. There comes a time that a person should move on for the sake of everyone involved. This Arsenal team is lacking in everything, it is not getting anywhere fast. Ox is doing the business aat Liverpool and Sanchez set to move on as well. The one that should be moving on is Arsene Wenger.

Lol Drogba peaked in his late 20s and early 30s, Lukaku is 24 right now and he's scored a ton goals in PL. Drogba was a nobody at 24. Lukaku will surely become a world class goal scorer after a season or two, he needs more support from midfield.

It's funny that you say Utd should sign Dybala or Griezmann because Lukaku is only good against weak teams.
Dybala scored 11 goals in Serie A last season. Only 2 were against teams in the top 10.
Griezmann is most likely gonna go to Barca in the summer anyway.

Utd are gonna sign Sanchez in this window and if they get Ozil for free in the summer it'll be one hell of a team. Just need to buy a good RB and another creative CM because if Pogba doesn't play Utd doesn't create many chances.

Doing well against Crystal Palace Arsenal boys! Sanchez who?

What a clinical performance from Arsenal. Their fans must be delighted

Good win yesterday. Some brilliant stuff. Will be a big test next week versus spurs. A game we have to win.

The cycle returns. Hope from new flashy signings and good attacking performances, that will slowly turn into despair once Arsenal fans realise that it doesn't mean anything if they can't sort out the defence. Just look at Liverpool.

Also, can't believe the criticism Michy Batshuayi and Chelsea are getting. The guy has contributed more to our season than Lacazette has to Arsenal (I'm not lying, look at the stats), has gone to a top club for game time (which he's gotten 2 goals and an assist on debut), while also getting Arsenal to pay for the £1-2m loan fee, not to mention there is no buy-out clause or option to buy in sight.

The defence will be sorted out next year. Our defenders aren't actually that bad it's just there is no defensive coaching done at Arsenal. We need a defensive midfielder badly though. No amount of coaching will improve CMs defensive ability although they are poor at tracking runners and concentrating.

Who would you want in the summer

I rate oblak. I wanted him at juve rather the pole we bought from you.
Pole is very good but prefer oblak - as I rate him just behind de gea - no. 2 in world ahead of neuer

GK-Oblak
CB- Koulibaliy or Harry Maguire
Cdm-Fabinho

Oblak has a 100M buyout clause, Arsenal aren't spending that.

Napoli rejected bids of 40M+ plus for Koulibaily in the summer of 2016. Arsenal aren't paying £60M on him. Maguire, let's hope you get him for 40M or so.

Fabinho is attainable and most likely at decent value of around 40M.

If we can't get Oblak, Allison on Roma would be another target for me.

Koulibaliy is attainable just because bids were turned down in 2016 doesn't mean he can't be signed in 2018. Maguire will be expensive but worth it.

Allison would be a very good choice, he's been excellent for Roma.

Koulibaily has been pivotal for Napoli this season as well, you're looking at 60M+. Arsenal don't pay that kind of money, especially on a CB.

Wenger isn't in control of how much we pay for players now so don't rule it out.

North London Derby predictions anyone? Our away record this season has been really poor but can we turn it around with Mkhi and Aubameyang?

Not sure how Arsenal haven't even tried to replaced Viera and it's 2018 :)))

Gilberto Silva is the player we should be trying to replace. A proper dm. We have different type of box to box midfielders compared to Viera. Doubt he can be replaced.

That's true, but it just makes it even worse that neither of the two have been replaced, even if Silva is arguably the best Brazilian to play in the PL ever.

They should have lost like by like 4 goals. Lacazette missed an absolute sitter at the end.

Wengar needs to go now - it's not working some how. Still they are playing most attractive, tactical soccer & the roster is too good for a run away 6th. May be players are not enjoying under autocratic Wenger system.

Xhaka and Bakayoko fighting it out for the worst player in the top 6 award.

I can't take another season of Wenger. Needs to be replaced at the end of the season. Been waiting since 2013 for him to leave. Just can't take another season of this atmosphere and depression.

I know its a cliche but I'm sort of optimistic for Arsenal's future.

They got out on an awful situation of their own doing and probably ended up a better team. Off the pitch everything in the Club is heading the right away, and regardless of why it happened Ozil resinging was a massive coup.

What dampens this is obviously the Wenger question. I don't think there is any possibility of him not seeing out his contract. He has stated thats what he wants to do and I dont beleive there is anyone in the club with the guts to force him out.

After that though there is hope
