Pakistan is not particularly enthusiastic about hosting series against India.

Their proposal is to host the Asia Cup in the UAE. If India has concerns about the heat, they could have chosen to withdraw.

why always try to become a chaudry of cricket.

Bro with respect... I think Jay Shah is at fault here. If he can call back the team from England forfeiting the 5th test to play the IPL in Dubai in the same month (Sept)...not sure what the issue this time. My worry is if all the games in Asia cup gets washed out....our team will go unprepared in world cup. We needed as much cricket as possible and this Jay Shah guy denied us that. I am getting reports that even Indian players are not happy with him.

I love Modi Ji being an NRI but cant support this Jay Shah guy...sorry

Because India is Chaudhary of cricket right now .maybe in future Pakistan can ,in the past ECB and CA both were the Boss
 
Match should be shifted from Colombo to any other Sri Lankan City where forecast is Good. This can possible if all the sides for once forget about their ego ,in this case Jay shah is more culprits but PCB is also not saint like they pretending

Jay Shah holds authority not the PCB. In such a scenario why aren't they considering relocating upcoming matches to a drier city?

Because India brings the money. Broadcasters pay for Indian team to play.

We don't try, we are the Chaudhary.

T20 matches start in the evening. ODIs in the afternoon.

Sri Lanka was the only viable choice. Else Asia cup was to be cancelled.

One venue was selected but at the last moment both side including PCB don't agree so plan was not work out

Why couldn't England have been considered as a venue for the second leg of the asia cup matches? Its been reasonably good summer here and there is a heatwave next week. Moreover the gate receipts would have been through the roof?

India is a formidable contender for winning this World Cup, and we should not underestimate them particularly when they are playing on their home turf.

They have had their way.

1) No travel to pakistan: Done
2) revenue split at ICC: Done

To be honest, I was surprised how easily the ICC revenue deal went through so smoothly

Not sure ICC is bothered with how BCCI is treating PCB.

Only leverage PCB has is to boycott ICC tournaments.

If they dont care thats fine. Its a good example of their stubborness.

However the myth of the BCCI being an efficient and methodical board has been shattered.

They are just throwing their weight about like a neighbourhood bully and hoping for the best.

Now they do have plenty of weight so they will probably continue to get away with it for a bit.

Correct.

After the ICC rights deal showed that out of $3.2bn broadcast revenue $3bn is from India, the other boards had no choice.

Our neighbours here try to put up a brave face but Rameez Raja in his interview accepted the truth.

a) Been that way for a while now.

b) One could say this proves that have been methodical about not giving any quarter to PCB.

c) This different from other boards behavior how? PCB threw it weight around in the past, so has ECB and CA. Boot is on the other foot and most other boards are sucking it up dealing with it. Case in point: the new ICC revenue model. Big 1.

d) Odds are they will get away with it for a long time, since no board seem to care or capable of changing status quo

At times team rankings fail to accurately represent a team's true worth as exemplified by India's loss to Sri Lanka in the previous Asia Cup despite being at the top of the charts.

By the way Srilanka is defending the title in this tournament.

The rest are minnows? On a previous post you said broadcasters will pay for India, irrespective of the opposition, and that is the bigger draw?

Nice to deflect, but it’s not the Indian Cricket team that is the Chaudhary, rather the Indian market. Unless, India is a minnow too?

Yes broadcaster is paying for India. Ofcourse a non minnow team will get more eyeballs considering this will be the only India vs Non minnow match except the finals.

Indian market pays to watch their team. If Indian players are not playing Indian market won't pay much.

Sri Lanka is ranked below Bangladesh. They had to play qualifiers to get into the WC.

Upset wins don't necessarily change the status of teams.

That was not an upset, it was a dominating performance.

They did have to play qualifiers, but they have destroyed all of their opposition proving they are more than good enough to throw out India or Pakistan of this tournament too.

Germany or Italy don’t have a history of getting thrown out of tournaments by Sri Lanka.

I am confident they can do the same in this tournament aswell, let’s see you hide behind Senegal or SoKo then.

Italy got thrown out of FIFA World Cup 2002 by SoKo. So were Spain and Portugal.

Senegal eliminated France and Sweden.

We know IND won't go to PAK but they could've shifted the matches out of Colombo had the alternative venues been prepared. Saj with your contacts can you please ask someone:

- What exactly is this issue with the floodlights at Dambulla we keep reading about ? That ground was inaugurated in 2001. They've had years to fix them.

- Why hasn't enough quality accomodation been built in Hambantota ? Who even thought it a good idea to build a cricket ground next to a jungle ?

- Will fans at the ground be given refunds ?

The administrators should come out and explain themselves.
 
Cricket as a sport especially Test and ODI is not compatible with the 21st century.

Was watching the game today (NINE HOUR game mind you), when it rained couldn't go anywhere else as the restart could have happened anytime, waited a few hours to find out that the game has been called off for the day. People with productive stuff to do in life cannot simply watch a full ODI or Test match.

The weather in Pakistan is just as worse- its not raining but is very hot. And high risk of players getting injured before the World Cup.

My sympathies are not with the PCB but cricket fans like myself who have been hooked to this sport from childhood and now cannot let go.

Hopefully we accept ASAP the fact that t20 is the future and have all cricket played in that format.
 
Najam Sethi was right.

Now, it's evident that the entire tournament has been heavily impacted by rain. It appears that the ACC and Jay Shah aimed to ensure that the 2023 Asia Cup's hosting by Pakistan would be remembered as a challenging one due to the weather conditions.

They will some how put the blame on Pakistan for sure!
