I would take 1 Kohli over both Azhar and Asad in a team. Even together, they are not as good as Kohli.

Kohli may get close to Azhar and Asad in the test format if he keeps playing like this. Can he make a 300 to match the heroics of Azhar Ali?
I have seen in such comparison threads that, whenever an Indian does well. we immediately compare him against couple of our players, with the express purpose of bringing the Indian ..... Down !!!! Why so bitter ??? He did well for his Team, and we should appreciate that. I knew that, before even reading the full thread, somebody will say that both of our guys are better than Kohli .... and sure enough, it is there .... somewhere. Not mature. There is no real way to compare two batsmen. Conditions they play in is vastly different.... opposition they play against is not same .... luck factor is huge. So we should layoff such comparisons .... just enjoy the performance.

For the last few years, Pakistan's premier young Test bats have been on a steady rise. They're at their peak now after a good show in England.
Kohli, on the other hand, started off as brilliant but then England happened. After that he's been on and off, did well in SA/Aus but couldn't keep up consistency.
Now he isn't doing too good again even at his home.
How do they compare currently? Let's not confuse with other formats.
We will see what Kohli can do after Eng racks up 400 plus in this Chennai test.
Azhar and Asad have a solid home track record Virat has come to his own only in last 2 series. Let's see where he stands at the end of Aus series!
Somebody is not even fit to tie the shoelaces of Kohli's boot. Then how they can be compared?Sorry to say in such harsh way but i couldn't find better words .
Many experts in this thread, who claim to watch lots of cricket, rate them at same level. Look up comments. Either they are clueless or you are clueless. Take your pick.
The pick should be based on actual performance on the field. The answer should be obvious.
Kohli has to score runs in Eng and also in UAE, everything else can be ignored when it comes to comparing Kohli, Ali and Asad.

Kohli wipes the floor with these no-hopers
Azhar and Shafiq have been a total waste of an investment.
Not even close to the likes of Root, Kohli.
So what do y'all think now?
People have been bumping my other threads, but fail to bump this one.I'm curious, like to ask questions.

Azhar is a world class batsmen. An avg of 47 as a opener is excellent although he has been a bit lucky in bashing WI and Ban. But he is world class still.
Asad is an average batsmen similar to Ian Bell.
Kohli is better than Azhar and Asad isn't anywhere close to the comparison.
On what basis kohli is better than azhar and if azhar is world class than what is kohli AtG ??
Would never have kohli in my side...especially illy if we had to play away all the time..

Thankfully you aren't India's Chief Selector. They would have lost their Test status by now.
Kohli is potentially better than any batsman Pakistan has ever produced, performance wise he is already ahead of the rest except for Miandad, but it is a matter of time only.
Wouldn't have him in my side at this moment...it's all sell and good when everything is in your favour..pitches rules money..but I haven't seen him perform under adversity..
Your side must be composed of ATGs then. There is no comparison between him and Azhar and Shafiq. He is at a different level to both. A potential ATG unlike those two.
Yes he is potential ATG. He is better than Azhar in every single department.
Lol. Shafiq wishes he was as good as Kohli. Imo you can't compare Azhar and Kohli b/c they play diff. positions.
What kohli did special in Tests which Azhar will dream of, scoring double centuries against halpless windies and bangalis and a one against NZ, now please dont bring his Australia heriocs
the same helpless windies you are talking about that thrashed you in your own home ground few months back and you barely managed to save your face in the first match?

Shafiq bats in a different position than Kohli too, but Kohli is still far ahead of them.

No way that Kohli would do better than Azhar has as an opener.
Azhar > Kohli in test cricket ATM, need to wait for 2 more years before passing judgement

Our wins have seen important contributions from Azhar/Shafiq. Kohli, maybe, haven't closely followed.
Azhar averages 37 in Australia, England, NZ and SA over 18 matches with only 2 centuries. This includes an average of 32 in England, 29 in NZ and 22 in SA. Kohli averages 49 with 7 centuries in Australia, England, NZ and SA.
kohli's achievement in home are not much to brag about since away record takes precendence over home record
At now azhar ali and asad shafique are far superior batters than kohli, when it comes to outside asia
Its a sour pill to swallow but thats how it is.
Have a nice day

I just posted their statistics outside Asia, and Kohli is far ahead of them.
Brother I know you can read, so please use those comprehension skills. I said Azhar is better as an opener. No way Kohli can do better against the new ball than Azhar.
You can't draw arbitrary conclusions to play down Kohli.Brother I know you can read, so please use those comprehension skills. I said Azhar is better as an opener. No way Kohli can do better against the new ball than Azhar.

Azhar is a good opener no doubt about it, but Kohli is in a entirely different league.
No way that Kohli would do better than Azhar has as an opener.
Both can bat at number eleven for all you care and yet Kohli will wipe the floor with other.
What is the reason that you feel kohli won't succeed over azhar as an opener?Another terrible argument. Stop arguing with your heart. Use your head.
Can I take a look at your crystal ball.Yes, as a middle-order player.
