Asia Cup 2016 | Sri Lanka beat UAE by 14 runs

Game has become lot more closer than I thought it would go.

Full credit to swapnil!

The Pakistani comes and tries to win from ball one, as expected. Born winners. Either win or die trying. :imran

LED Stumps, Umpire Cams looks like now they are going to be part of all international T20s from here. IIRC they were also they in recent SA-Eng series.

Top scorer with highest strike rate . He was playing with 10 unrighteous talentless Pakistanis. What did you expect? :afridi

Those 10 talent-less Pakistanis are the reason this match got 4 pages at PP because they setup the match with bowling otherwise nobody was going watch one sided match and SL have a history of making records against these minnows UAE was luckty to have our bowlers :yk

SL missing Sanath and Mahela here:yk

I will give credit to UAE for putting up a decent fight batting wise, but it's a line up of tail-enders for the most part. Goal now should be to bat out the innings and lose by less than 30.

Talentless when compared to Swapnil who clearly has been the best player on their team. And a good human being too :amla

Waiting for the day when an ultra rich Arab sheikh buys an entire international team and renames it as the UAE team.

UAE and Australia will then fight it out in the world cup final.

With the way Vijay Malya is going Bangalore Royals may soon become Bangalore Emiratis

Their oil wealth isn't doing so well, probably won't be buying a team of expats any time soon. Then again, it's UAE, they might entice the West Indies players to give up their citizenship and become emiratis just for easy money.

Last thing any team want is a Guju middle order batsman. Only good for Mid-Off and Mid-Off shots :kohli

If i am not wrong UAE got 4/5 free hits during this innings but no sure how many resulted in boundaries? was there any?

Russel has already got into the costume.

Patils are Marathi/north karnataka. Parikh and Patel are Gujarati. Not sure about Pandya

Pandya, a name I have seen from some of my Gujarati friends. Even there was a minister (haren pandya) by that name who got killed by terrorists(?) few years back.

UAE needs an Afghan middle order batsmen, Indian top order batsmen and Pakistani fast bowlers.

Ethnically Sharma isn't a South Indian name is it ?

I have seen south Indians with Sharma surname here in the south. Im sure there are Kannada brahmins with that surname and probably in AP and TN as well. Not present among Kerala brahmins for sure

No Minnows have been bashed in recent times. The standard of associate cricket is going up.

It Iyer like Lurdker said. Malayalees also use Iyer.

Even among Iyers there are few who use Sharma or Sarma as their surname instead of Iyer while Madhwas (kannada brahmins who are spread across karnataka, tamilnadu, and andhra) are more commonly seen having sharma/sarma surname. tamil iyers who settled in palghat region still use Iyer as their surname but even here I have met people with sarma surname.

Sharma/sarma surname is kinda omnipresent among brahmins of India at different degree :)

No we don't actually.

How about Shreyas Iyer ? Naresh Iyer ? Aren't they all Malayalees ? Do Palakkad residents speak Tamil ? They give an impression that they speak a mix of Malayalam and Tamil ? How is their scripts ? In SL there are people called Negombo Tamils, they speak Tamil but with Sinhalese accent and write down with sinhalese scripts.

Tamils don't use surnames .It banned

Its weird. We use our father's first name as our last name and we put them in front. Murali Karthil, Muttiah Muralidharan, Murali Vijay, Ravichandran Ashwin, Laxman Shivarama Krishnan all have their father's name up at first. In the west, we just put our name at first and use our dad's name as last name.

As you mentioned they speak tamil with a slang of malayalam.
