"At the 12th over mark, Babar Azam is not the best person to come in": Mike Hesson

LOL... knowing that rain is there and the game could be shortened, he still chose to bat first but the game washed out luckily... No one trusts you Hesson Bhai... You were clueless.

Across the five T20 World Cups Babar has played, he has faced 217 deliveries in the powerplay, scoring 187 runs.

That equates to a strike rate of 86.17, making Babar the only player in T20 World Cup history to have faced 200 balls in the powerplay and ended up with a strike rate below 90.

Ye @Major ka 🔔 King hai. 😂🤣

:klopp :kp

Those are terrible stats, if it is true.

@heddie19 bro, do you still want him to be sent as an opener in tournaments despite having those pathetic stats?

@Mobashir, I know you are busy with other things and can’t respond now. I am sure you will be back once Babar scores a run a ball 50 to answer this. :uak

Mohammad Hafeez speaking during a TV Show:

"He (Hesson) made a statement on Babar Azam that I didn't understand. He said that Babar Azam is not a powerplay batter because his strike rate is 100. I read this statement 15 times, but I didn't understand, which is why I am asking you, because you are like an elder brother, maybe you'll understand. He said that Babar can't bat in the first six overs, because his strike-rate is quite low; he gave a stat for that, nor could he bat after the 10th over. Toh wo khel kyun raha hai? (Why is he playing?).”

Babar (of today) is not the best person to come in at any position in a T20 game. He bats timidly most of the time with no attacking shots and too many dot balls. What's worse, he then gets out cheaply, putting more pressure on batsmen to follow. At least, batsmen like Miandad (He was definitely a generational batsman; invariably came into bat in a crisis) and Inzi made sure that even if they started cautiously, they made up for it by A- making a big score and B- playing some attacking or big shots in the latter part of their innings. Babar seems incapable of doing that.

He was never a generational batsman or a match-winner. Cheap anchors like Dr. Noman Niaz (Is he really a doctor; spends most of his time on talk shows!) hyped him up immensely (and unnecessarily).

Forget World cricket, I can name at least 15 Pakistani batsmen who are/were better than Babar.

Hesson is a big fraud and keeps quoting useless stats like we won x out of last y and if you go and analyze those wins it is mostly minnow bashing. We lucked out vs Australia at home and it turns out even SL and Zimbabwe are beating them. We dropped games even to Afg last year, keep getting blanked by India while this fool sells us this nonsense.

So let me get this straight, the coach says Babar can’t play in power play so from overs 1-6 he is useless.

Then 12th over onwards he is again worthless as per the coach.

So basically according to the coach, Babar is in the team for overs 7-12. That’s 5 overs!!! He is in team for only 5 overs?

That’s such an own goal accepting he is in team for just 5 overs, he himself is saying Babar doesn’t deserve to be in playing 11 in t20 yet still keeps him in team?

Make it make sense to me
His job is to STABILISE between overs 7-12. Destroying any momentum the team has and putting the pressure back on those to come. Simple.

Dr Nauman is such a Babar and Rizwan nut grabber. He has accussed ex Pakistani legends of being jealous of these two ie Babar was an even better talent that Zaheer Abbas, the egos and agendas of these ex players ensured they deliberately targeted Babar, Rizwan and hence responsible for their downfall.

Babar should retire from t20 doesn’t have the game nor has the ability to handle pressure … Mike Henson is doing the right thing until he retires and makes way for someone else …

Babar needs to play only two formats , that is best for him.
Do you even know his TEST record and how poor he has been last 2 years? People think cause he bats slow in white ball, he should play TEST cricket. In TEST cricket he is average at best and a BIG flop in SENA!

So, Mike Hesson bhai why not just drop him from the team and play another handy batter in his place who can perform according to the demands of the game? is his name bigger than the team's requirement?

Amir honestly speaks his mind fearlessly. Rashid and Shehzad were mentioning that Babar developed technical faults in his game and mental fragilities as well which is why he is struggling now. Amir was having none of it and got straight to the point i.e. most of Babar's runs have come against minnows or against C, D teams from major countries, please pin point one incredible knock he has played against a full strength India, Australia, New Zealand, South African team. As a bowler i will fear a batsman who can aggressively bash me playing all sorts of shots all over the wicket vs a player who only relies on timing and orthodoxy.

I think it’s pretty obvious his hand is being forced to play Babar. When a coach clearly states that a batsman can only play in certain situation and everyone is just mocking him for selecting him anyway then you have to read between the lines.

Coach clearly states: SR is low, can’t play in power play and can’t finish. Can only play if we lose to many early wickets. Does have a reasonable replacement for him. BUT still play him … it’s obvious why. He doesn’t want to play him but is being forced.

Agree.

It is also not good for Babar's confidence.

The evolution of cricket is a nuanced concept and strike rates and averages do not cover it properly. For example, Javed (strike rate: 67), Inzimam (strike rate: 74) were still solid match winners and their opponents were scared of their presence at the crease. A lot of cricket is mind game & these players were really good at it & had pedigree that was widely respected & even feared.

Babar despite a brief period where he was solid has never been the match winner for his team. He also carries zero mental fortitude to scare his opponents into altering their plans. The other team knows what to expect when he walks to the crease and more often than not, the script unfolds in a predictable manner.

There's no all time eleven of Pakistan in which Babar makes it anymore. In ODI Fakhar would replace him as an opener, in T20 even someone like an Imran Nazir has the ability to do more damage than him, & there's absolutely no chance in test cricket where you have Zaheer Abbas as a lock in on number 3 position.

People need to go and check how poor Babar is in TEST cricket.
