Aus vs SA - 3rd Test @ SCG

Brett Lee is really bowling well lately .. Kudos to him ..

Conditions and wicket anyone ? for those who say wicket has nothing to do with pace b/c its measured out of hand ? ... please explain why LEE is bowling faster in the 3rd test, than the 1st .. Fatigue seems to be working backwards here ..his avg pace now is 4 kmp more than his avg pace in 1st test ..

Well Kallis has dropped anchor (poor show really....not to be expected of a top 3 batsman in the world)...and Lee is fired up...also hit him a couple of times
 
Yeah Kallis hasnt scored off like 30+ deliveries .. is it ? that is a shame .. Prince is going to LAP him .. lol
 
98 runs off 257 balls. (210 dot balls)

I said to my missus .. 'Ill be up in a few balls time (assuming Kallis would get his ton)...an hour later and 80 balls in the 90's later...Im still here!

Jaque Kallis is messing up my marriage!!!

I'm only staying to watch how he celebrates. Batting boring is great if you are the only one that does it!!! He should be leading the way, guiding Prince to his ton also!

I dont consider it boring .. he is trying to defend his wicket .. and prolong the game .. doing the right thing .. but too much is too much ..

now that he has his hundred .. look at hime score so freely ..

Why do you think he's doing the right thing, esp when they need to WIN to draw the series? Added to the fact the pitch looks a belter now.
 
Congratulations to Ashwell Prince on his century.

Go on and make the Aussies toil even more.

The thing I hate about Kallis is that, even though he scores runs, his pace is sometimes far to slow for the team to push on even in test matches! A century at a strile rate of 40 is just not good enough these days in my opinon. I mean then theres players like Afridi and by his standards this type of thing is unheard of because he considers a patient innings being 146 of 191 as he stated in his interview in another thread!
 
why this attitude? the man gritted it out, but his country in a great position...sure he takes his time to score, but this ton is superb...consider the attack, the conditions on the first day...some people have the nerve to say he's too slow..christ..it's test cricket, you got plenty of time, and he's using it
 
Lara made 227 vs the same team with a SR of 75. Nobody plays as slow as kallis. I guess even saleem malik used to score faster than him.

Exactly, I take a ton anyday than being bundled out for less than 300 again. Now SA ina dominant position and just need to get 450+. With the track turning on the last day, we should see Botha come into play.

Like it is not selfish considering it is ONLY DAY ONE! I would take a century any day over a quick 30 setting the team up with nothing.
 
Kallis has an overall strike of his test career 42. which is danm slow. even Ian Chappal today on the commentary was criticizing Kallis for his slow pace inning. he said that to Kallis wining the match for his country is 2nd priority and his own runs 1st. he also said that is the reason Kallis is not a winning batsman/player for his country.
 
Of course he is not a winning batsmen for his career, if you disclude his hundreds against West Indies and England.

It's always been like that. In the 5th test v England last year in a test where they needed to win he was so selfish and was making slow runs for himself instead of trying to level the series. I hate him.

next over
ball RIPS and turns a mile .. PRince raises shoulders .. hits outside off .. no shot offered
GIVEN OUT
HAWKeye shows missing OFF .. didnt TURN enough ..

but BOWDEN gives one of the HARDER LBWs to give .. where batsmen leaves the ball, and is hit outside off with the ball turning a mile .. but not mile and half .. which was needed..

BAD DECISION .. influenced by AUSSIES..
 
Prince LBW to Warne...bumped hard by Bowden..Ball ripped off the pitch from a dark patch
done by not playing a shot...hawkeye says would of missed offstump by a distance!
 
Bowden is incompetant. How he could give that out after turning down others that were much closer?!

You're implying Bowden wanted to give one in favour of teh Aussies to get even. Thats implying you know his motivation as he raised the fingre. And sarcasm, no sarcasm in this post...

either way .. umpires/aussies .. nor you nor I will ever win ..

thats why I prefer EA Sports Cricket to real cricket .. thats where I can say cancel and start over ..

S.A batted like snails today and no surprise that kallis was the ring leader. Smith did declare at right time interms of giving his bowlers a nice small session to bowl @ aussies.

those 3 quick wickets mean S.A are well on top.
 
Ponting needs a big 1. If ponting goes early tomorrow africa could be well on their way
 
Finally SA makes it worth the while to get up so very early....

Great going by the guys. Hope they can do something with this slight ascendency they've gained by taking those three wickets. A drawn series down-under will be perfect...

That will make the Aussies tour here later a whole lot more interesting....
 
So Mulan the loss of Ntini hasnt really hurt SA. They have the Aussies in some trouble with 3 wickets down and only 54 on the board!!
 
Yeah. I thought losing Ntini would be a major blow. Langeveldt has not been a new-ball bowler in my humble opinion, and neither is Nella...

But having the Aus 3 down with a "depleted" attack is some achievement. The only thing we are worried about, is Smith going on the defence...

I really hope he's a whole lot more pro-active in this game, and attack more. But he may not feel able to, as Botha is very much a rookie, and he may well try and protect him.

Just hope that they dont let the Aussies off the hook like Pakistan did in Perth over a year ago when they had Australia at 78/5 but then they went on to make 300+!!!!!!!!!!!
 
Also are you worried theres no front line spinner as well. I mean its not as if the spinners have been effective so far, but it does limit the options available to Smith.
 
I think bowling the Aussies out last innings will be tough for the Saffies. Sydney is always a spinner-oriented wicket. Its going to have to take a superb effort by the pacers if South Africa are to win this match.

True. But SA has never had an abundance of spinners. Botha only started bowling spin a season ago, and without Ntini, the attack looks kinda toothless.

SA need to give their spinners more "air-time" . The problem is, all our local captains seems to think a spinner need to take a wicket every over. And if he doesn't, they take him off. Goodness! Even Shane Warne only takes a wicket every 9 to 10 overs in tests....

So, we have guys like Thandi Tshabalala, who are really good prospects, but they're not "used" right. Hope they can rectify this situation. Soon!
 
A lot depends on pointing and hussey here. Symonds will have to play a different type of inns for australia and gilly must come to the party. If S.A can bowl Australia out before tea then its game on!
 
if Saffies get Punter and Hussey b4 Oz make 100 runs then SA have a good chance to make them follow on. otherwise it's gonna be pretty hard.
 
Its been raining all morning in sydney. covers are coming off and it looks very over cast and could help S.A swing bowlers.

Did anyone see the LBW appeal on Hussey ... It was PLUMB .. yet Darr :13: didnt give it .. Smith was furious .. then they showed Smith being GIVEN OUT LBW by Darr... on a VERY similar Delivery .. they even showed the 2 bowlers side by side, the 2 deliveries side by side .. and Darr gave Smith OUT, but HUSSEY not OUT

Another IN CONSISTENT call by Darr..

Nels last over was just class. Ponting rounding another 100, Inzi's record in danger(highest test score in your 100th test)
 
Ponting gets his 100! 1st Aussie to do it in his 100th test, 6th to do it after Inzi :D
