What's new

Australia [285/7] defeat England [221] by 64 runs and reach semi-finals of World Cup 2019

Stokes/Buttler can take them home.

Wicket must fall, esp. Buttler. Otherwise, Eng are home.

With Roy out, England should consider moving Root to open and moving players up in the middle order . Stokes is in good form. Buttler should not be batting at 6.

Back to a slim chance now.... still unlikely though.

Maxwell will bowl a couple here. Buttler and Stokes don't look convincing against Lyon.

Stoinis is good for current situation he is frustrating eng

Hahahahah and he got butler

Getting out to Stoinis of all people lol. Hang your head in shame.

Here goes best finisher in the world when his team needed him the most .Butler have choke

Seems bilateral bulley .failed against pak to finished it for eng in worldcup now once against aus in must win game

Khawaja is a awful fielder and look how he caught that. I think Langer said Khawaja worked on his fitness and fielding when he took over as coach.

I wish our players could learn from that.

Prayers being Answered for Sarfraz &co. (Abey kaale teri maa kha chilla kat ke ari h):P

Something Sarfraz will never do even in his most wild dreams... We had a chance to improve our NRR big time in SA match but thanks to Sarfraz we lost the opportunity. Misbah had this same habit of never attacking the opposition when they are down.

I think he (PAK) was happy to win the game. Also, because of that wash out (point share), calculations are such that NRR probably won't be a factor now, unless some other game is tied/washed out also. PAK & BD if wins respective games will face off at 9 points each - only another tie/wash-out can make NRR count.

I think Sarfraz was extremely tense that day and PAK fielders Mash Allah dropped like 6 catches .... I am happy that he didn't pluck one stump and chased someone .....

PCT Management as a whole never looked for the finer things of a tournament. I had a post here, which had a detailed list of tournaments (3 at least), where PAK got dropped for poorer NRR/RR. One I can instantly recall is 1994 (or 95) Asia Cup - won first game against IND by 97, then everyone punched BD (But PAK did it with comfort), then IND beat SRL and last game SRL needed to chase inside 36 overs against PAK, which they did in 35'5 overs and PAK missed out for 0.01 decimal ......... And, still PAK Manager (Haroon Rashid probably), kept complaining about the tournament format (Hum India ko sau run se haraya tha, lekin kisi ajeeb hisab se Final miss kaar gaya .... :( Absolute clue less)

Feeling sorry for England, they have worked so hard for many years for this WC.

Australian fielding has been top notch.Pakistan have dropped more catches than any other team

Garoor ka sir neecha

"360 is just par score against us" :)))

Get Stokes out inside the five overs and the rest will fall.

England has lots of soul searching to do.

This wasn’t expected.

So if England are bundled out under 200, how will that impact their NRR?

NRR wont come into account unless there is more rained off games. England win 1 , will have 10 points and Pak win the 3 for 11 points. England win both they are through.

This is another level trolling from aus . Eng have smash aus in aus and england but now in real game they have thrashed eng

Josh Buttler has many, many miles to run before he can have Gilchrist or MSD in his Rifle sight ........

Pathetic display from England. Man even we batted better against Australia.

I am not sure whom to support as the winner now.

Australia getting rid of 5th bowler. Don't see England lasting against Aussie specialist bowlers.

Woakes ahead of Moin hmmmm............. whats the plan here??

Two left handers, Maxi on and Lyon has 4 overs left - very simple plan. Yesterday, Rhodes sent Liton to partner Tamim because of Mujib & Nabi. In LO cricket, one has to be flexible.

Agree with your point about Sarfraz it's a miracle we won that match after dropping so many catches. But NRR can still play a role because of the weird England weather (It was raining in Birmingham today but looking clear for tomorrow match against NZ).

PCT is mostly all about giving easy money and free tours to ex cricketers with no vision about modern cricket that's why they are clueless about such things.

To be honest we did not help ourselves with the dropped catches. Otherwise it could have been a different story.

Lyon overs still being saved. England can't hide Moen forever . Maxi has 9 to cover left handers.......

The safest thing in any tournament is support your own team ..... then back Aussies.

Sir Bobby Robson (Or Trevor Fransis) was asked about football WC - answer was - "....it's a defensive game where everyone try to avoid defeat and finally Germany goes to SF.........."

High risk shots from England. They seem to have forgotten the art of rotating strike by playing on roads prepared by the ECB.

By now we are used to this plot like sas bahu serials. England chokes. Stokes tries to repair and gives out after sometime.

Amir and Wahab got it reversing on Sunday but a different pitch wont allow Starc to do the same.

100 off the last 10 is possible if these two stay at the crease.

People under-estimate chasing pressure. Only one team has pulled off albeit against an indisciplined bowling unit. You cannot blindly choose to field looking at conditions.
