Big day for the game....Another good batting day for Australia and the pressure squarely on Pakistan to save the match...

From this above report it appears no rain after 10am.
Means 2.5 sessions of play is possible. Around 70 overs. Unless wet outfield further delays it.

Update: Teams departure from hotel delayed due to overnight rain and a wet outfield. Expected team departure at 10am.

10.10am The good news is that the weather looks good at the ground. Clear skies. The inspection is due in just over 15 minutes.

There is no issue with weather - main thing is to see how bad the outfield is which will dictate when match starts.

Another inspection at 11.30 am. So most likely no play possible before lunch. Absolutely waste of time this test match in Rawalpindi.

This isn’t good for Pakistan at all if Australia bat until lunch tomorrow they will have over 100 lead and we will have to bat to save the match.

Knowing the history of Pakistan we could easily be 5 down after 30 overs leaving another 30 overs of tense batting to avoid defeat.

For that to happen Australia has to
Score 300+ runs. They are 2 wickets down. New ball is also due in 7 overs. It is not as easy for them to pile up 300 more runs in limited time.

1st session is gone. I think bad light post tea will
Play part as well. All in all Aussies will bat max 50 overs today.

50*3.5 = 175
Even if they bat all day today. I doubt lead will be wiped out.

Pakistan can easily survive 2 sessions tomorrow, it is not a pitch to be scared off.

Of course there’s less chance of that happening but in future they should learn to keep a minimum of 3 run rate throughout their innings and select a few batsmen who can score at a quicker rate.

It's been hot sunshine since past 3 hours here. My lawn has all dried out like if there was no rain at all. Don't know whats wrong with the pindi stadium outfield.

I think Pakistan will be quite pleased with the way this test match has played out, as it'll go in the history books as a draw vs No.1 ranked test team. Expecting a cake to be cut for Azhar, Imam and also applauding Nauman, Sajid for their efforts.

Good thinking by the minnow management.

Pakistan making a mockery of themselves on the field, and now off the field.

Now let's see some pepsi drinking videos on camera please for sensodyne moments of the match.

If they need to stop one thing is this pathetic cake cutting thing.

Update:
Day 4 to start at 1 PM. Maximum of 67 overs in the day's play.

Australia should look to bat the whole time & completely break Pakistani bowlers now. Take this as a practice match. Ideal situation for them to make most out of it.
But, knowing Australian style of play, they will still try to make a game out of it and try to see if they can go for a win.

Pitch has nothing for bowlers. If a bang on average player like Abdullah Shafique was able to get to 45, the likes of Smith and Marnus will thrive.

Amazed by the grit, resilience and determination shown by both teams. This is 1980s cricket at its best. Nobody is willing to throw his wicket and giving their best shot to survive here.

Australia can win this match. Just declare after 400. Our batsmen will be folded under 200. Australia can easily chase 170+ in 1.5 session.

Naseem will make sure that this match remains interesting for Australia because they will try to score 150 lead about Pakistan will trouble massively.

If Pakistan are troubled by a 150 run lead on this wicket with Australia’s one dimensional bowling attack, all eleven players should immediately stop playing international cricket.

If Pakistan can get through Australia for under 400 then this would become a good test to watch on the final day if all 3 sessions played..

Naseem almost got smith but 140kph ball didnt carry to the slip on this pitch

The fast bowlers are getting a bit of the pitch and with some pressure Pakistan’s batsmen are always capable of a collapse.

Wonderful delivery by Naseem Shah..

In many matches and many time for pak have seen this dropping short of the slips

Keeper and slip fielders always not able to judge the pace of the pitch correctly and the bounce that will carry through to the slip cordon... Always standing too long, seen more during sarfraz times and now with Rizwan..

Rubbish wicket. Quite certain this was a defensive measure after the injuries to Hasan and Faheem. It’s not even taking much spin well into Day 4.

Few more quick wickets here will atleast slow the Aussies scoring down.

“Bang on average” bruh why don’t you come on the pitch and show us something. The guy has done nothing for him to be labelled bang on average. He has good cricketing shots and for now the ability to be a good squad player for test cricket.

Clawing their way back into this are Pakistan!

How Australia need to be all out quickly for any chance of a Pakistan win only thing this is doing is giving more time for Australia bowlers to put pressure on Pakistan’s batting.

When pakistan bat again (probably tomorrow) it has to be positive. otherwise could end up in trouble.

Sharam aana chahiye honestly, these Australians are four down on a wicket where every Pakistan dismissal was thrown away.

These softies won’t survive spin on a decent wicket

It won’t be as easy for the rest after this partnership

They need to go full attack on Green here. Young kid, first time outside Australia. Get another slip for the fast bowler, bring the field in closer to stop singles and strangle him when Nauman is on. Nothing to lose, the game is heading for a draw.

More time will be lost today and tomorrow due to bad light.

Only hope for Pak is if Aus has a collapse here and Pak can bat again today. That will allow for perhaps a very small chance tomorrow.

Using your feet is best against Nauman less turn batsmen can safely hit through the line.

It's Day 4 and Nauman is barely getting any spin, every ball is an arm ball. Is that his usual bowling? I must have forgotten, I was expecting him to spin it more.

before the series i wasn't too excited and expected a draw series

Exactly, its been arm ball all the time, one thing he does right is keep it tight , not leaking runs which is good..

On the other hand, Sajid and Naseem are leaking all the runs ...

Naseem is not the test match bowler still yet, he is been leaking runs right from the start..

He has played only 23 matches in domestic cricket.. Again and again they just simply get him in when he is not ready yet..

Bowlers like Sameen gul deserve the chance more than Naseem and Haris for test cricket... Selector Wasim put stats in front for his ppt didnt he know that Sameen gul has got the best avg in FC cricket.. Tall right arm pacer to pair with Shaheen and Hasan as third seamer would be very good pace attack...

10 of those 23 FC matches are Tests, so Naseem has only played 13 domestic FC matches.

Naseem's performances have not matched the hype. Pace without control and knowledge of how to set up a batsman is useless.

Not sold on Sameen Gul. Once I saw him live in QEA Trophy he looked no more than 80mph and slightly overweight. Reality is our pace bowling depth is shocking.

pakistan need more wickets for bowlers to regain confidence. fahim and hasan will come back into the team for 2nd test. lets hope karachi is a better and sporting surface.

Tbf, it seems like Waqar Younis has upped his game in the commentary box too.

He’s improved his English, seems to be making decent comments with good humour as well

This is pure borefest. Just hope the wickets in karachi and Lahore have some kind of assistance for the bowlers. Pretty certain had the Late Shane Warne been alive he would have had no complimentaries for this road!

He always had a decent English in my opinion and was always ok as a commentator. My only issue is with his lack of knowledge about Pakistani players especially the ones who only played domestics.

Reminds me of the Pakistan v India 2006 series

2 borefests and then the thriller in Karachi

This could turn out to be a late thriller like the Abu Dhabi Test in 2015. It was an absolute road before Rashid pulled a 7-fer out of nowhere in the third innings on day 5 and only bad light saved Pakistan.

Australia will declare with around 70 overs left tomorrow. Plenty of time for Lyon to make an impact if the pitch breaks up.

Australia can still make a game of it if they wipe the deficit today and the bat tomorrow to put up 120.

Australia will have erased most of the deficit by tonight. A quick 15 over slog on Day 5 sesssion 1 to get a lead 60-80 runs and then see if Pakistan crumble under pressure in the remaining session. Wouldn't rule out an Aussie win here.

I think pakistani curators dont really have any expertise to produce balanced pitches otherwise they would have done it by now.
They lack the right knowledge or the conditions or arrangements are not that good enough or compatible to produce good pitches.

What a terrible wicket, I was hoping for an exciting test match...

Looks like my prediction of Pakistan taking the test series wont happen and the series will be a flat Phatta Cake draw...

The fact of the matter is...Pak were worried about Aussies Quicks and this pitch obviously negated them...If they made a turning pitch they would be worried about Lyon so thats the reality.

Lets face it we are still worried Pak might lose this as Aussies can build a lead and declare with two sessions to go
