What's new

Australia thrash India by 333 runs to win 1st Test within 3 days

How on earth are you going to take 20 wickets away from home? :))

Cos Shami will be back.

There will be some help for Ishant.

Indian team is looking at a few pacers with potential in domestics.

Ashwin should just get his surgery or take a long rest from his injury after this series.

Kuldeep should also be tried.

Lots to do.

I thought the umpire was going to say not out for that one too :))

This Saha is a disgrace

Saha cannot play quality pace or when the Ball turns. Looks like a clown with the bat. He only looks even worse when he drops catches.

But who cares. He is the best keeper according to selectors. What ever runs he scores is a bonus.

Australia have enough runs. They need to bowl India out for under 150 and specifically ensure that Pujara and Kohli don't score many runs.

Do this and they'll win the series. India won't be able to come back from it.

Disappointed he gave that... I wanted to see the reaction on here if he turned that down too :)))

Kohli might be a bad captain, but his change for Umesh against left handers has again worked.

All this and he nevers appeal with conviction even when it's a clear nick

Most Indian keepers appeal for anything and look at Saha  absolute tool eventhough takes them up,wonder if he requires hearing aid?

Blew both within the space of 10 balls.

Legend :kohli2

Always called him an average captain even when people were raving about his legendary leadership skills.

Better than Dhoni though.

He's worse than Kane.

Kane also handles pressure situations much better than Kohli.

It will take few more matches for Indian Captain (s), because of BCCI, they are not exposed to DRS much yet, but I think, there is a conformity pressure from him. Ashwin has done something for him like what Murali, Wrane or Lillee did for their Captains, therefore he tends to be a bit bias towards Ash or may be he is too confident on him. Most of his DRS howlers are when Ashwin is bowling.

Can't wait for Kohli and co to tour South Africa and England again, some massive reputations will be shattered

Kohli is the biggest culprit for this defeat.

Threw his wicket away in the first innings and has led the side like a legund in the field :kohli2

Top knock by Smith irrespective of his lives ,to keep going is still a good sign.

If u depend on rahane, saha, jayantbatting in india it will bite u back and it has bitten big time

Ashwin was part of many bad decisions. Once he got it all wrong, he got subdued in future decisions but Kohli keeps reviewing regardless based on gut feel for all bowlers.

That's what hurts.

You can't take reviews based on gut feel.

AUS's selection of squad is wrong - Nevill has better FC batting stats & Wade is proving why. As a WK, Wade is almost at per with our Mushi or Sarfu ...........

India seems to be cursed. But this will serve then good in long term if they learn the lesson that "never underestimate your opposition and never get over confident or complacent and never take things for granted otherwise it can get very very ugly"

Patel. He is a genuine bat and not a tailender like saha.

OMG are you kidding whatever he does in batting makes up with his terrible keeping not to forget bowlers go low on confidence with him behind the stumps.

Warne going gaga over the amount that Jadeja is turning it, completely ignoring the fact that massive turn is useless if he's going to pitch it outside off stump. Gotta get the ball pitching on middle, middle and leg.

Some ball turn sharp.

Not all. Others are little slow turn.

Which is why runs are possible here if you play inside the line for the sharp turn (no shame in getting beaten) and cash in on the other deliveries.

Which is EXACTLY what Aussies did.

Leave India to me

Saha is a better batsman than Patel - you are going by Patel's face value, analyze their stats; both are in their 30s and 12+ years of domestic career - there is enough statistical evidence on this. As a WK, on Indian tracks, Saha is twice the WK than the 2nd man in world - forgot the name of that Kiwi WK.

If india can't dismiss aus in a rank turning pitch then i am afraid india has no chance in flat pitches as their batting will murder ashwin there

No. On flat pitches if Australia bat well they will draw else India still have good chance. India can still play good waiting game on flat pitches (Indian type) and win Test Matches against any team! That's why I was telling no rank turners please till our batting line up (top order) gets seasoned. Till then rank turners will turn out as lottery to Indians (dependent on toss and luck and rhythm). India will have good chance on flat tracks, they have time to work out and suffocate the opposition, they have a team who can work out collectively.

Nah Jadeja...don't listen to Warne.

Get it a bit fuller. This isn't the perfect ball even if you beat the bats all ends up.

Well played Smith - must admit, impressive. Brilliant, brilliant knock.

Yup, Jadeja needs to threaten both edges of the bat and he's only going to do that by darting it in straight and quick. He (and the commentators) got excited by the turn he's getting from outside off but it's easy to face because like you said, you can play inside the line for most deliveries and just wait for the bad ball.

This is not even a rank turner.

Rank turners get consistent big spin.

Not inconsistent big spin mixed with majority slow spin deliveries.

Am I the only one who saw Smith dropped 4 times and lbw another time?

Steve Smith - What a knock!

Seems like he rode his luck yesterday but was in control tofay

But, this is a double paced & uneven bounce wicket. It's tougher to bat on these type of wicket than tracks where it turns big, but consistently.

You didn't see the match today then, great knock irrespective because people doubt themselves after so many lives but this lad kept going.

Ashwin needs to get his head out of his ****.

He is not the same bowler we saw against England.

On another note, Ashwin is really average these days. Actually he has been good to very good in some matches/spells but never been special.
To go at over 4 in these conditions is criminal.
