Not against these bowlers in these conditions.

I reckon if he played the same bowlers on a sporty wicket for Essex CCC, he'd be hitting them all over.

Trouble is that he's played 100+ ODIs now so maybe it's time to give Hales or Stokes a sustained run.

My brother just said the stupidest thing I've ever heard - split NZ and Aus if they end up facing each other in the Semis, as one of the Semi's will have a poor attendance if they are to play one another....

He is your brother after all, apple doesn't fall far from the tree :ramiz

Your team looks alright though Rob. They're my smokey tip. This WC goes into our autumn, weather is unpredictable, might get some English type conditions.

Interesting. Probably the best England ODI bowling side in about three years. I'd like Moeen and Taylor to have played more ODI matches by now, but they had to wait until the post-Ashes clearout.

Can still see the poms rolling some teams on these pitches, issue for england is on the totally dead tracks where they still seem to think it's 10 years ago and 280-300 is a great score.

Yep, should have had 320-330 in that match against Australia but took their feet off the gas. Still took it down to the last ball, but that was more due to a mini-choke by Aussies.

Too tough to say, they haven't played us in a while and when they did play us last, we matched them if not bettered them.

When were those recent odi's where the kiwis outplayed the aussies?

Last full series between aus and nz was 5 years ago and australia won the series(in nz) since then the only completed match between the teams was the 2011 WC where australia rolled NZ for 200 and then chased it down at nearly 7 an over.

Nz only has two odi series wins over australia in it's history 1983 and 2007.

Back from the game and some post match activities.

How utterly surprising that when Maxwell finally decided to play proper cricket he looked and performed like an actual batsman

Agreed, they are inexperienced yet the expectations on them are very high which is unfair but that's a testament to their ability and potential to serve England in limited overs for years to come. Anyhow in comparison to experienced guys like Alistair Cook, they are much better options experience is not everything when you don't have the skill set required to be a good player in limited forms of the game.

Whatever happens, this World Cup will be great for their development. This is the strongest possible England team I've seen at a World Cup in a very long time. I will not be surprised if they manage to make the semis.

Bopara form is a concern at the moment, they should persist with him for now but if he continues to fail with the Bat they should bring in Hales especially since Bopara doesn't really bowl much and Moeen seems to be doing a fine job despite being a "part-timer" ;)

This Australian team will run out of gas eventually, mark my words.
