What's new

Australia v Pakistan | 17th Match, World Cup | Taunton | June 12, 2019 | Australia innings

Clearly shows the performance of azhar mehmood. He didnt give his bowlers any plan. Get ready for another failure.

First 10 overs were critical. If we dont strike soon

We'll be chasing 300+. It's a small ground and Aussies are a hitting power house

Poor control of line and length by Pakistani bowlers. Really how hard is it to bowl a good line and length.

no doubt the weather has tricked both teams...taunton is famous for batting and a proper spinner was defo required...Pak were just worried if they went in with shado they would have only three seamers...

The pitch is not as menacing it looks to a Pakistani batsman - still not too bad bowl first. Our batsman are more worried about the shade of the wicket than Aussie bowlers.

Sorry, but Australia have been incredibly lucky to not be one or two wickets down by now. The number of near misses and inside edges are nauseating.

Australia should ride their luck for maximum effect today.

Yaar, rubbish bowlers, such inconsistency at this level is not good

Warner and Finch looking set, if these two set up a platform 300+ is on.

Very stupid to drop shadab. Stupid stupid decision. Cant even make use of nee ball. In last game, we couldnt even get england out all the way. Our bowlers are toothless and cant bowl with any swing.

And see how aussies will bowl. Where are the wicket taking balls? Where is azhar mehmood's plan to pick wickets? The bowlers clearly dont have a plan to bowl. Their basics all wrong. Shaheen is perfect example. As he will follow what coach has asked of him.

I just cant see Pakistan winning this match :(

And you want pakistan to win a WC with such hope from fans. If we had batted 1st we probably been down 3 wk now. Let the wk settled down and we can restrict them to 250 and hopefully will chase it.

too easy for Aus now, this is a good batting wicket, so need to be right on the money here

No it didn't. You need to weigh the risks of playing a pacer who has been in terrible form lately vs an all-round spinner who had a good last game. Plus, as the saying goes, you don't change a winning combination.
You need to adapt to conditions and that Shadab-Shaheen swap made sense in theory. Afridi had been our best bowler for a while before the Eng series..

Why is it a fluke? Why Srilanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan other low/mid-table teams dont have such flukes?

In my opinion there is no such thing as fluke in 50 over and test cricket. YEs in T20s you can fluke wins. They raised their game on that day and beat the best team in the world and deserve credit for that. Discrediting a team for a hard fought win is not good

Cricket is not a card game that flukes can win trophies and matches against best teams in the world cricket should

I respect your opinion. But Pakistan has to shred off the term " unpredictable" and " inconsistent" to be that force in reckoning. They are now at par with WI,BD,SRL in mid tier level in ODIs. One or two wins here and there shall raise question in mind. I am not taking away any credit from Pakistan and it shouldn't be, was just saying, random thinking

Pakistan needs 3 quick wickets. Who can be the hero for Pakistan?

Our talentless hacks are bowling the wrong lengths as usual. You bowl short on this pitch and batsmen will hit you for fours all day. Only Amir has bowled at the right length.

Bowl full and get the batsmen on the front-foot.

Sarfraz is not a bowler. He should stop advising bowlers. He has somewhat screwed up the thought process of bowlers by yelling at them what to bowl

Thank God we picked amir, other wise it would be total carnage.
I thought picking Shaheen was the right call but...

By any chance, does PAK tank think that this Aussie pair is vulnerable on back-foot? Bowling length suggests there is something wrong in upper chamber - and this is before Wahab.

True. This offered a lot of help. But they consistently pitched short. Even Amir was the culprit a few times.

Shageen bowled too short and Aamir last over was floating it up like he was peak Dale Steyn bowling a late outswinger. They should simply Bowl a tight line and bang that good length and the wicket would have done the rest.

Apart from Amir all our bowlers are not good enough. Same batsmen would have score 30 against India in 8 overs.

Its a dead grass pitch. But lets be positive and still believe u can bowl Aussies out be positive as a team Sarfraz must nit show negative body language what a dush bag captain.

Pakistan should always bowl first no matter the conditions.

By bowling first, Pakistan has already lost the match.

Bangladesh and Sri Lanka do not have the capability to compete with the likes of England.

I think fans on here are panicking a little too much for no reason. Sure, the conditions were overcast but certainly not bowling friendly. The ball hardly swung for the first over. Let's not forget we're playing this game in England. The UK has been notorious for its flat roads.

Yeah, we've seen small scores but that's not because of the pitches being bowler friendly, rather the pressures of playing in a WC. I think we need to relax. As long as we can contain them and prevent them from crossing 300, the match is in our hands.

Just need to make sure Riaz or Shaheen dont bowl short needlessly.
