What's new

Australia v Pakistan | 1st Test | Brisbane | Dec 15-19, 2016 | Day 1

Warner relies on luck more than most batsmen around. Any score above 50, you can guarantee will include a couple of french cuts, balls skied into the outfield or snicks wide of the slips.

Very rare Warner plays a chanceless innings like a Root and Williamson often do.

Rahat doesn't even look threatening. As usual we will have to depend on Amir and Yasir.

Already I can see that bounce has gone into Rahat's head.

Surprised to see that Asad Shafique and Azhar Ali have played almost as many matches as David Warner and more than Steve Smith.

Australia 8/0 (2.0 ov)
Matt Renshaw (lhb) 4 (6)
David Warner (lhb) 4 (6)

Mohammad Amir (lf) 1.0 0 4 0
Rahat Ali (lfm) 1.0 0 4 0

Pakistan seamers won't get the assistance they got in New Zealand, there's no green on this wicket at all. Looks like a day 3 pitch that's had plenty of sun of it but without the wear.

Cricket pitches in Australia suck these days.

3 overs 12 runs....

1 bad ball
1 edged through gully
1 played on the up !!!!

Rahat is still bowling way off the stumps. Bowl close to the batsman and make them play.

Get Rahat off, he isn't going to get a wicket with this kind of bowling.

So as expected.

WE'RE WASTING THE SWING!!! Amir not bowling the right line either.

This is really stupidity , wasting the new ball again !

Where do you expect them to land it? If they ball too straight and get worked off the pads, you'll probably complain. If they're too wide of off-stump, you'll say they're wasting it.

Look at the surface and the batsman, the margin of error is tiny.

Wicket is pretty good for batting, no grass, very little swing. Good toss to win for Australia 🤧

I can't wait for asif to to make a comeback we need a seam bowler who can seam both ways this is just easy picking for Australia

On the plus side .... no dropped catches yet ?? :)

Oz motoring along with a boundary ball every over .....

Uncle Gandalf needs to do something here.....If things keep on going how they are we'll be seeing 150 runs in the first session :(

Amir looking good. Should be a handful in the third session.

I would actually get Yasir ON now, because later on he will be ineffective under lights best to use him now.

May be I am wrong, but PAK's UAE strategy had been to restrict scoring with new ball, take the shine off & bring the spinner - each & every bowler is groomed in that mantra - keep short of length, just a bit wide out side off, don't get driven on front foot & try not to concede boundary - after 10-12 overs Ajmal/Rehman/Yasir/Babar/MoHa will do the job till 60 overs - then reverse swing will come in to play. I don't think in 6 overs, I have seen probably 2, max 3 balls that forced batsman to play at it, may be couple more.

Good bowling from Amir so far, too bad Rahat releases sll the pressure with his wide balls.

Looks Rahat's long hair are blocking his vision, he should get a haircut because he has no idea where he is pitching the ball.

Main problem with Rahat is he's not bowling with a plan. Just going through the motions looking for swing.

Bring Riaz on, he can get Renshaw with his extra bounce and pace.

Wahab is a good pick actually - this is not a green top to keep the pink ball in shape. Probably, he is the best bet with extra pace.

Seems like Amir is finally using the full extent of the crease rather than bowling from a foot behind, so his pace is up as well.

Really needed a right armer... not named Sohail Khan.

I don't understand concept of playing 3 left arm pacers. I don't remember it ever worked and always the one right arm pacer had more success than two left arm pacers whenever they had one right arm pacer in the line up

If sher was not fit then should have played Imran here, i like his attitude decent bowler.
