What's new

Australia v Pakistan | 2nd Test | Melbourne | Dec 26-30, 2016 | Day 3

Lmao.

A no ball due to fielders in wrong place.

Pakistan have lost it today.

TBH ,who was responsible for it,bowling no ball is criminal here. And here wahab bowled a dozen.

yes ofcourse.

all credit to warner as you make your own luck

but he rode it with some of his shots as well

as they say fortune favors the brave

he has not been getting scores and has never scored big at mcg so many players would have gone to their shell but he didnt

Pakistan batted way too slow to get a result on this wicket..

You're not going to win too many games in Australia batting 99% of the innings at 3 an over.

Australia could be in a position to declare tomorrow with Pakistan having to bat day 5 for survival.

Timely wicket for Pakistan and azhar(to remain in contention for MoM)

Warner's 144 was more assertive, inspiring and valuable than AA's scratchy, tedious and insipid 200, if the match concluded in a draw, the former should be adjudicated as MOM 'cause he deserves it more than the later.

Warner's 144 definitely better as it has gotten team into a position where they can call the shots for the rest of the game.

Yes but a lot of rain is predicted tomorrow and the day after.

It's safe to say that there will be no result in this match.

lol were you even watching? His 200 was all grit and determination, not to mention chance-less.

That's how we play regardless of the conditions on offer, with Misbah and his protege at the helm of this batting line up, scoring at snail's pace almost becomes an expected mode of play. And you're right you're not gonna win many games in Australia/NZ with the kind of approach we've been following.

Pakistan has tried all sorts of approaches in past 20 years in Australia with Shers like Wasim and Waqar and Saeed and Inzimam.

Shall I remind you the scoreline?

Where's my reward? :rahat

Gimme a shout the next time you're in Brum and I'll buy you one of these:

Can't wait till the Aussies tour India and I hope India prepare all rank turners. :misbah3

Imagine Usman Khawaja batting against Ashwin in India on those type of tracks. :)))

You know Yasir has bowled absolute filth since Khawaja has been able to survive against the spin.

Yep. Ashwin, Jadeja and Jayant Yadav will have this batting lineup dancing to their tunes.

Doesn't matter if it didn't help his team gain a commanding position in the match, he scored way too slow for a set batsman and didn't accelerate to make up for the lost time, if it weren't for Amir and Sohail, we'd not have been in position to declare early, AA should be thankful that he got able partners who stepped on the accelerator to propel the scoreboard, something he wasn't capable to do.

I thought Australia will end the day at 180/x when they came on to bat.

Fair to say my calculations were slightly off.

Batted his way through the innings with regular wickets falling around him. If he had fallen we'd have collapsed. If it weren't for Azhar's resoluteness then there would have been no platform for Amir and Sohail to go Gung Ho.

Story of the day "we started the day by thinking only the rain can save Australia and ended by thinking now only rain can save Pakistan"

Posters get a humorous bone esp when opposition performs wellbagainst Pakistan.

I have been hearing that every match recently. Unfortunately, looking good doesnt result in wickets. Srinath spent his entire career looking good and beating bats multiple times an over

Unfortuantely, it is the reality! I don't want to generalize on what's been happening, or what happened in the past . . but for anyone who watched the first 11 overs of this innings, it will be incredibly unfair to say that the new ball was wasted! And just for what it's worth, I'd also recommend that you go through the cricinfo commentary to get a sense of how lucky australia was and in particular David Warner.

This Test could go the Abu Dhabi 2015 way. Pakistan putting a good total, England (Australia) responding with a better total and then attempting to force the issue on day 5 and Pakistan crumbled because they didn't know how to plan their innings.

It may have gone that way, but due to rain at least 2 sessions of play will be lost in the last 2 days so it will be a draw.
