What's new

Australia v West Indies | 1st Test | Brisbane | 26-30 Nov 09

Krapich caught on 93 down leg side. Not the best wicket, but he should've been out a few overs ago too.

Chris Gayle just took an outstanding catch to dismiss Michael Clarke. They're putting up a pretty decent show, these Windians : 5-290

Pretty good effort from the West Indies, we are slightly ahead on the day's play but another wicket would make it level. Lots of starts but nobody made them pay.

The Usual expected solid start by the Aussies. They will be looking to get 450 here and then make some in roads into the W.I batting!

Decent first day's play. I reckon we can push through to get at least 400, if not 450. Looks like the pitch is a good one to bowl on as well.

Trouble looming for the WI, the pitch is good for batting and Taylor won't be bowling again today.

5/349

The decision are not always in favour of us. Were the decisions in the last Ashes series in our favour? No.

Just that touring teams like to hang their hats on one bad call here and there to justify why they lost. Ignore everything else like the WI just dropped both batsman within 2 overs.

And nobody expects the WI to win, they are $18 for any punter wishing to lose his money.

2/187 should be 4 down.
so far your team is doing good. 380 for 6

This West Indian team showing a bit more fight than previous tours.

7/403 but 500 probably out of reach now. Marcus North continuing his excellent start to a career.

Taylor has a hip injury and won't be bowling.

Tailenders beating the crud out of the WI's bowling. You don't see that everyday don't you.

Our tailenders are very good batters actually. Save the top order a few blushes time and time again.

Wow ... didn't expect that. I guess with the rain coming over the weekend, Ricky wants to make sure he gives his team as much time as possible to win it.

This will be good to watch, Gayle and Barath batting, both not defensive batsmen by any stretch of the imagination :afridi

Gayle just murdered the ball through the covers. Hilfy no afraid to pitch it up, Gayle unafraid to crack it either.

Well we declared to have a few overs at them before tea. Safe to say that plan didn't work.

0/41 after 6 overs.

Gayle appealing for a PLUMB lbw, unless he hit it.

Wow now I can understand why Farhat asked for review. If Gayle can ask for this one well I will even ask for Clean Bowled

Ponting drops an absolute sitter. Everyone's doing a Farhat here today.

Windies don't know how to use this appeal system, they're just appealing for the major batsman. They've used two appeals and lost both. Chanders gone.

Pretty pathetic batting from the windies, especially their senior batsmen.

Same old story, they bowled well yesterday but couldn't back it up today.

Batted well before tea then fell apart after tea.

5/134 Ramdin and Dowlin putting down some runs. Too little too late though this game will over by stumps tomorrow.

Windies will be following on I think. They gave Nathan Hauritz two wickets in two balls, unforgiveable.

Windies fold for 228. Ponting strangely, does not enforce the follow on.

And they're following on. Not a bad knock from Dowlin, stuck it out and put a price on his wicket.

Gayle wasted a referral again.

1st innings:

12.3 plays back and is hit on the pad - looks pretty close and he is given by Umpire Gould. But there's a twist as Gayle challenges - the result he's out, dead as can be as it pitches about middle and leg and looks plainly out. Great umpiring there by Gould - backed himself and was justified by the TV referral 49/1

2nd innings:

2.1 leaves an inswinger and he looks plumb - given out and the WI skipper challenges, now what does the replay say? Umpires call is the call from upstairs and he is still out - terrible start and great bowling 6/1

doesn't he know when it's plumb? That referral could have been used by someone else!

You may be correct.

There's a very good chance it will be over by stumps. They're losing a wicket every 5 overs and MJ and Horroritz haven't even bowled yet!

As WI crumble to 5/151, Barath has scored his debut ton. Fantastic effort from the young bloke. 28 overs, 5 wickets to get so we don't have to bat again.

7/168 now, Ramdin and Benn at the crease. Can we get the 3 wickets we need tonight and give the boys a couple of days off? 19 overs left, plenty of time I reckon.

If we do it WI will have lost 15 wickets today.

Fat lady is clearing her throat. 8/176, last recognised batsman gone in Ramdin, still 16 overs left to get 2 wickets. Will the OZ keep their foot on the throat and try to knock them over tonight?

Well done Australia..going for the kill again. I pity the fool who thinks the current Pakistan team will do well against the OZ. The roos are too good.

Well, the boys get the weekend off after taking 15 WI wickets today. Pretty ruthless display, though the WI, barring Barath in the 2nd innings and Dowlin in the first, were pretty ordinary.
