second highest score for first day was yesterday - according to Slater

Laxman has to try and keep strike for next 3-4 overs. He looks confident and in form and Dravid will probably get something back because he doesn't look comfortable to me
 
Benson does NOT give this plumb LBW.....Hawkeye shows that middle and leg stump would have been hit!

I am tired but it seemed like the commentators just said that Benaud??? thinks Tyson (from 60s???) was a touch quicket than Thomson

Laxman pulls Clark and it goes fine. Gilchrist dives to left and touched it but the ball goes to four. laxman on 49

the same bowlers look menacing when dravid facing but mediocre when bowling to laxman

I don't know why. He's had enough time to settle in...

Maybe he needs to be dropped just given a rest, get Sehwag in there for godsake if you want to persist with Yuvraj.

You can't get a single of fa f*cking partime bowler? If you dont want to score fine, get VVS the strike...

This is how it's going:

Dravid facing bowling = maiden.
Laxman facing bowling = boundary, 2 runs.
 
I want Dravid to get out. This guy is seriously out of form. He is playing Symonds as if he is playing Curtley Ambrose, Glenn Mcgrath.

He is doing JUST fine!!!! He knows VVS is scoring at a decent ace to he is trying to get back into form the right way.

This is kinda extreme. Atleast he's holding one end up ... you know it won't take much time to be at 165-6 from 101-1. I'm fine the way these two are playing...

like he was trying to get into form last game? 5 for 66 and what was it 13 for 116 or something ridiculous like that? When they needed him to score because no one else was doing so.

He's had plenty of time to settle in. Ok don't hit boundaries, you can't even get singles? Your not in the form of playing if u can't even muster singles. He or Yuvraj must be dropped for Sehwag next match.

He needs to be dropped or go back to his regular position.

Had Gilly held that catch.. it would have been curtains. He might have spent lot of hours on the crease. But there won't be runs. Defensive mindset always gives chance to bowlers. Dravid didn't play a flawless innings with this approach.

Agree, but he's going through bad patch and best way to get out of that phase is by spending as much time as possible in the middle, not by trying to hit ball out of park. One good knock he will be alrite. We all know how good a batsman he is, let's be on his side and support him...

Sachin has been affected by "allergy on face". he practiced in doors on the eve of the match because of the Physician's advice to avoid sun light. He is fielding with a hat for the first time instead of his india cap to give some protection to the affected area.
 
match resumes and Laxman a four second ball to covers and moves to 78
Gilchrist drops Laxman on 6th ball. low catch to right. Not a hard take.

You are lucky only if a fielder drops you or if the umpire does not give you out despite being a clear decision. if the ball drops short of the fielder, the batsman is not "lucky", just "plucky".

The memory of the day for me is the bemused look on Stuart Clark's face after he was straight driven off a perfectly good ball in his first over.He partially acknowledged that "special" shot from VVS with a nod.

Not so sure about that. Replays would have shown that the catch was not clean..leading to even more controversy.

But yeah..credit to him for being honest.

probably did but wasn't sure so still well done :)
 
Shocking shot by VVS..India on the ropes again.

Sachin, Ganguly, Yuvraj, and Dhoni (and Kumble :D ) are our top guns..so I am not too worried yet. We will surely avoid the follow-on..the rest is unpredictable.
