Australia vs India | 3rd Test | Melbourne | Dec 26-30, 2018 | Day 3 Thread

Would have been so much better to have enforced the follow on. Australian bats are already under so much pressure. May have snared a few before stumps today.
 
Poor strategy. This is not the kind of wickets where you can get quick runs. Need to grind it out for a bit. I know Kohli doesn’t care but he ruined his average a bit by playing with hard hands against one of the top bowlers of the world.
 
No problem with 3 down here. India needs simply quick 50-80 runs here. not sure why India is playing defensively. Just attack...

No way Australia is going to chase even 300 on this track with jadeja. ANything they score over 350 is a bonus.
 
Let the law of averages catch up to you when the runs are not so necessary. Great strategy by the aussies
 
This is one of the worst display of batting I have ever seen.
Total brainfade. Even mohalla cricketers have more sense.

That's why i was puzzled by Pujara coming out to bat. India should have changed the batting order. Play some shots and if India is bowled out in 30 overs with 150 runs then it's a perfect situation.
 
Lol, this Indian batting lineup is pisspoor. Rahane is so overrated.

Teams don't impose follow on anymore. Indians will never do that after that Kolkata test. Chasing 120 in the 4th innings could be tricky after loss of momentum

Getting 5 an over is not that easy against this attack.
 
Rahane got to be benched, failing consistently for far too long now.

Even Smith wont be chasing 300 plus on this pitch against the likes of Bumrah and Jadeja. Whatever runs we make is bonus here. Indians are trying to keep the Australian bowlers stay on the field for more hours
 
This goes to show how batting first gives huge advantages to teams. Test Cricket needs to be revamped.

Bingo. They want to grind the bowlers more but with the game in the bag, the intensity is down

Play like this and won't be an hour never mind hours. Indias BOWLING is surely better than their BATTING who would've thought that a a few months ago
 
All these wickets were not coming when Aus needed for the first 2 days. Too late, but it will help going to next test.
 
What's kohli's captaincy got to do witt this. Everyone was praising him for not taking follow on, now suddenly everyone is against him. Hypocrisy is appalling.

The reason India has this big lead is their batting. What we see now is just careless strokes as the game is already in our pocket and we are buying time.
 
Actually, India getting bowled out cheaply may kill any chance of a draw.

I appreciate him for not enforcing follow on. Batting last these days never ends well for any team. especially India
 
On Another note, the reason why we Desis never win much in sport , can be seen in the cricinfo comment section.Lot of panicky Indian fans inspite of having lead of 300 plus on a crumbling pitch.Jeez, we are for sure a bunch of phattus.:ssmith

There was a set plan for Pujara and Kohli and it worked. It was not as careless as you make it sound. We’ll see more of this on Sydney

They tried it in first inning without success, that's why I said it was careless this time.
 
10 overs 12 runs and 4 wickets. Hope the team learns from this poor strategy. You can’t just go out in the middle and start attacking the likes of Cummins and Hazlewood. Also shows the importance of the first innings which as per some “experts” here was too slow. 14 wickets in the day. Some people should watch more test cricket before creating threads.

These fans are only viewers of any criket match at best, but doesn't understand the game of cricket. I had an neighbour uncle who used to watch cricket sometimes with me . Whenever a team scored 20/0 in first two overs of ODI he said "well, this team will score 500 runs in 50 overs today @10runs/over" :rp

Also it is good thing for Indians that Cummins is going all out now. That increases his chance of exhaustion/injury in Sydney test as there is only 4 days to recover. Indians needs to give a hope of a remote victory to Aussies and thus make them go all out.:kp

Nope, they can't chase 400. India should have sent Pant up and told him to play shots.
 
Is the pitch too tough or is it bowling or is it poor batting? I hope it’s the last option.. I want Australia to win this !
 
Don’t understand logic behind not enforcing FO
They could have got 2 to 4 wickets easily today
