This Boxing Day Test at the MCG carries high stakes: if India win, they retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, while an Australian victory keeps their hopes alive for their first series win against India in a decade. A loss for either team raises critical questions, and with a packed crowd of over 90,000 expected, the stage is set for an intense showdown.

India, coming off a tense draw in Brisbane, face challenges in their misfiring top order and must find support for star bowler Jasprit Bumrah. Meanwhile, Australia have reshuffled their lineup, with 19-year-old Sam Konstas making his debut. Despite concerns over form, players like Travis Head and Steven Smith provide stability, and Scott Boland’s return on a ground where he thrives adds depth to the pace attack.

With both teams tied 1-1, there’s little margin for error, and the outcome could significantly influence the World Test Championship race.

Here's to a good debut from Konstas. Hopefully channels his inner Alexander.

Boland in for Hazelwood is definitely a plus too.

bumrah 10-for probably inevitably but Aussies can't chuck wickets away

Two big Tests tomorrow, Indian and Pakistan fans would love the action tomorrow. If not with their team's good performance then anyway will love to gloat on another's failure.

P.S: forgot that Indians and Aussies would be praying for Pakistan team

Morning Aussies will eat indian food for breakfast while in lunch time South Africa eats Pakistani Biryani .

Meanwhile zimbabwe will eat afghani chicken at the dinner.

Three Boxing day test are starting from Tommorow .

Past results means nothing , current form is what matter the Most.

India is playing with just Nine players as Rohit and Virat are walking wickets.

If India is batting first who do you think will be on strike by the time you open your eyes?

It's good that I usually watch the first session in these early morning matches rather than the later ones. Instead of the latter ones. But good luck to your team man

Lack of pujara type players seriously hurt Indian batting in this edition. It is a miracle they are going into boxing day Test 1-1. India has some sort of domination at the MCG. But Rohit is known for breaking the trend. Losing to Srilanka in a ODI series after 25 years, Losing a home series after 11 years, Having a white wash at home first time in history, Losing a world cup final at home for a change.

In Australia, winning requires playing proactive, attacking cricket. This involves strategies like fielding four specialist pacers, setting intelligent field placements tailored to the opposition batters and game situations, and demanding more accountability from the batters. Rather than chasing massive centuries, the batters could be given smaller, achievable targets. The top three should focus on blunting the Kookaburra ball, the fourth batter plays a stabilizing role, while the next three adopt an aggressive approach. However, given the current team setup, they’re likely to opt for safer, conservative options—using three pacers alongside two or three underwhelming bowlers—resulting in yet another predictable thrashing, unless 2-3 players have a massive day.

Australia have won the toss and have opted to bat

I don't particularly care about how India do. I don't actively hope for them to fail. I prefer to focus on Pakistan's performances. In general I would support Aus but some fans of Home bully Head have been hating on Rizwan and Babar and Pakistan and this is making me hope that the match is washed out.

Gill who looked good in last test is dopped so that the struggling 38 year old captain can bat at no.3 who has got less runs in this series than no. of wickets by Bumrah.

No wickets so far. We need wicket ASAP as these openers once settle down can cause trouble.

Konstas is showing he is not ready for Test yet.

He is trying outrageous T20 shots within the first few overs and he didn't even connect.

He got it right but this is not how to play Test cricket.

I don't think he can continue like this in the long run.

The strategy kinda makes sense to unsettle Bumrah/Siraj.

But he needs to tone it down and choose the right deliveries. Right now he's just going at it blindly, which is fun to watch but risky.

Test cricket is always the best.

India have good bowling conditions to exploit but Konstas outrageous shots has got their brains scrambled.

Australia needs to stick with this young lad and back him.

Australia need to get to 400 here then India will be under huge pressure. The whole momentum has been shifted by Konstas

Konstas is a gutsy young lad. Right now he’s playing with Indians’ mind. India needs to be patient. This should not continue for too long.
