Need to play 4 fast bowlers and no yasir shah.

Yasir is a liability in aus.

Also we only have 2 capable fast bowlers who will threaten the other team. That SSA and naseem shah. Abbas is too slow, imran jr is too slow, and musa doesnt have the radar.

Also SSA is only one with height advantage. Rest are around 5'10 to 6'1 maybe.

If he cant bowl 10-15 economical overs he shouldnt be in the team as an allrounder.

Going with 4 pacers will be a suicidal move. It will lengthen the tail further, plus fast bowlers won't have much time to recover. I would prefer Bhatti over Yasir, as he can bat.

Well Misbah has an obvious disliking towards Shaheen, we all saw that during Misbah's "expert" analysis during the world cup.

If that was the case why they didnt call Sarfaraz or someone else as backup because there were quite a few days before the 1st test to analyze everything. Putting in Abid Ali with gloves after so much preparation, I doubt it.

It's very unlikely that he won't play but if he doesn't or something happens during the test match. Misbah will get a lot of backlash.

really depends on what Ifti chacha is - if he's like a Haris Sohail or Asad Shafiq type bowler, then definitely agree, they need a proper spinner

but if Ifti is a someone who can bowl 10-15 overs a day, which is how I think Misbah see's him, then he can comfortably be the lone spinner and fifth bowler

Well it will be a dream result if Pakistan win the series. either 1-0 or 2-0. And from that point big teams will have to reconsider of no. of test to be played against Pakistan. It is a very critical time and if we get humiliated in this series Pakistan test team will fall hard.

While you are correct that a warm up match shouldnt effect the selection of a proven test performer like Abbas but you have to understand the reason for even that consideration is Imran Khan took a fifer against few of the best batsmen in Australia and that too in Australia and was the most fruitful spell by any bowler in the warm ups. Abbas didn't do much in SA. Did decently for Leics, but nothing special (in comparison to his displays in the previous campaign). Was below average in the few matches he played in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. He hasn't been at his best over the past year or so.

you don't drop somebody because of one iffy tour. it was his first tour to south africa and he actually looked threatening at times. and why are you reading so much into first-class games. english and Australian fans don't do this, it's like you're dissecting his every move. he was still pretty good for leics last season anyway, average in the 20s. abbas should play. should go without saying really

lots of really good bowlers go through periods of not exactly being world beaters in first class cricket. there's been loads of instances of even elite test bowlers being flat in first-class. mohammad asif wasn't even that good for leics for cyring out loud. you really shouldn't criticise a bowler harshly for not skittling everybody out in first-class over a period. and you should not over analyse. also lots of rubbish bowlers are lethal non-stop in FC. it's a different game in some ways . as i said though abbas was still pretty good for leics last season anyway

First class and warm up matches are the only way to judge a player outside of test cricket. Abbas was mediocre in QAE just like Imran along with being mediocre in tests vs SA (Last test series he played) and his county stint in 2nd div with Leicestershire.

Imran took a fifer including wickets of Burns and Carey on ducks while Abbas took a couple of wickets against a much weaker lineup.

No one can deny the ability Abbas has but the confusion comes in whether he is in the best of form or not. You are entitled to your opinion as well as showcasing your great vocabulary with the words like "Drama Queen" but again to me it doesnt look as straight forward a decision as you are claiming it to be.

I personally wont mind either ways as both the decisions as both have certain reasons to go for.

Shouldn't play Yasir plus Abbas/Imran same speed bowler I would pick Abbas. Abid we can take a chance as keeper and it provides batting depth. I know above won't be the playing 11 coz our coach and management is always about safety and not about playing attacking cricket.
