What's new

Australia vs Pakistan | 2nd Test | Adelaide | Nov 29 - Dec 3, 2019 | Day 3 | Match Thread

oops Pakistani tailenders will have to come out again as Aus have forced follow on. :aali

Australia have enforced follow on. Well well Imam and Shan better get ready. Should be embarrassed the way Yasir showed the team how to play

Pitch is dead if batsmen can’t score now don’t know when they will

Follow on ENFORCED: I seriously think Pakistan should send out Yasir to open. He's been out there for over 200 deliveries, he's seen off the new ball, he's survived pacy reverse swing, he's scored and defended against Starc bowling at 150k's and he's gotten a hundred.

Yas is seeing the pink thing like a football right now. Please send him out early.

Send Yasir to open. He's seeing them like a football :wa

Yasir gets huge applause from the crowd and hugs from his teammates. He told the interviewer on the way off that Babar gave him motivation and belief that he could do it during their century partnership.

This is why Babar should bat at 3.

Can't wait to see our players playing with open face of the bat as they nick the ball towards paine and warner. Can't wait to see our top order getting caught on the short ball. Can't wait to see our middle order playing cross bat shots and getting caught behind the stumps.

He'll be under pressure and he's tired as well

If Pakistan are to progess then they need to let go of Asad and Azhar MMHS

Biggest liabities right now

Actually, they are an outcome of a predicament of accepting mediocrity by pampering Mo Hafeez & Sho Malik for 20 years.

A pair of batsmen averaging early 30s after 15+ years of career can't occupy the top 2 slots of middle order. The standard was set that time and no one felt the urge of stressing own self for higher level. If there was a Captain like Imran - either he would have forced Umar, Hafeez to become a 45+ batsmen, or would have thrown out like rotten potato within a year for good - PCB gave MoHa a Cat A central contract and unconditional privilege in 3 formats!!!!!!

Pak's fight today has forced Aussies to change their decision. They would have batted and piled up 600 lead and dec if Pak folded quickly

Pakistani batsmen were atrocious in this innings , hardly anyone got out on a good delivery. Rizwan was the worst of them all. The wicket had 450 even for Pakistan's batting.

I knew, they'll enforce the follow on - that lower order resurgence had scared Aussies. It could be a blessing as well - 3 Aussie pacers have bowled 62 of 94 overs in last 20 hours and more importantly opening already into a spell with 2nd ball and have bowled 48 overs combined.

I'll be seriously upset this time, if Shan & Imam don't survive at least 15 overs for opening pair.

Australia should have batted again. They may end up bowling 200+ overs on the trot here. Bat for 50-60 overs and then put Pakistan back in. Guess the weather forecast is the reason for this decision.

lol our openers already struggling. Pakistan management will never be out of the box.... shouldve sent Yas.

Tired? Probably.

Pressure? After destroying the Aussie bowling attack, old or new, fast or spin - I dont think so!

He needs to build a base if he had to open and he will have the pressure to score some runs. I know Yasir batted brilliantly but it's a different ball game when you come at no. 8 and open.

definitely a blessing in disguise. If only our so called proper batsmen cash on tired Aussie bowlers on flat pitch.. 150 on last day on this pitch can be very tricky. pitch is already showing signs of turn

It'll be epic tragedy (after Oval Test 2015), if Lyon ends up taking a 5for here, that too on day 4; Starc already has his 6for ..................... in a Pink Test, at Adelaide.

Bhatija should be sent home tonight, in cargo box - how can an opener miss that gun barrel straight ball?

Really hope this is the end of Imam's test career. In fact, not just him but a lot of other players.

Yasir isn't doing what he should do with the ball, has done what he is not supposed to do. If Yasir or Pakistan try to make him an all rounder his fate will definitely be like Irfan Pathan.

Nevertheless, let's applause Yasir for a hundred on Australian soil. Something to remember for him forever

Gun barrel straight? Looked to have moved in a fair bit.

Garbage.

Imam should only play ODIs, that too as back-up to Fakhar & Abid.

Open with Shan and Abid (after we finally get rid of useless Kaptaan), with Sami as a back-up.

Uncle no more in charge of selection committee. Pressure on Brad Junior.

Bhatija hamesha bade bade baate karta.

Josh is coming round the wicket - straight line would crashed on leg stick - it holds line for middle. Yaar, for a reason these are million dollar Test openers, you or me isn't batting there.

If his technique was solid, he actually would have stressed forward and make that impact out side line. He completely missed the line.

Back up? He’s arguably been our second best bat behind Babar since his debut.

The Pakistani openers and middle order overcomplicate batting by just looking to leave deliveries outside offstump or block block eventually resulting in them getting that one brilliant delivery

Look at Yasir Shah, positive and solid in Defence but made sure he atleast got a single in the over and if the ball was in his zone he would go for it.

We need a change in the batting culture. The top order cannot be a clone of Misbah ul Haq.

Remove Misbah from everything

I am quite disappointed and surprised by Imam’s poor returns in Test cricket.

His temperament is excellent, his technique is not terrible and he has showed the ability and hunger for scoring runs, which is why he has firmly established as the second most prolific ODI batsman after Babar.

I think it might be a confidence issue. He got going in ODIs from his debut but Test cricket has been a rough ride so far. I won’t drop him yet because I believe he has some qualities that you rarely find in other Pakistani batsmen.

Long, long back in those operator controlled Analog phone days, Australia had one batsman named Ironmonger... This guy was a SLAC spinner, quite good one, but throughout his life, never batted even at 10, from school level - he was that good with bat, a specialist No. 11.

Now, he was playing a FC Game for Victoria against NSW. And, his wife had an emergency ...So, she called to stadium phone (those days, connecting line wasn't easy), and one of the players connected ... the conversation went like this -

Wife : Please call Bert, it's urgent
Team-mate: He has just gone for batting
Wife: Oommm ...... OK, I can hold for few minutes....

Guys, Azhar Ali is to come for batting after break ........ and I seriously need some sleep. Should I go for couple of hours?

No. Babar will be in within the next 30 minutes.

Same boat buddy, hang in there.

That's usually how much Azhar scores in first 50 deliveries , playing for his place tonight
