We are basically 39/5 since Shafiq and Masood are crap. Gotta hope Rizwan and Yasir save us

Pakistan's best way to handle this situation is by attacking. If you are stuck not scoring any runs eventually you will get a ball with your name on it. Survive 10 overs and attack.

That Innings was probably played at Dhaka Stadium. One of my relative (grand father) used to play club cricket for Azad Boys and he watched that innings - he reminded us till his death how good Hervey was against spin.

Not sure though if that was the best innings in PAK - one of the best indeed.
 
I am impressed with Shan - he has done exactly what I was expecting from openers in such context.

Won’t mind him as the next Test Captain.

Relatively tired bowlers, flat wicket and helpful conditions. Some of these two plus Rizwan will get a big score. The key is not to read too much in such soft runs until you end up with at least 120 run lead cause that will require surviving some of the last session with second new ball.
 
Hazelwood bowling has no pace, just bowling around 130.
His bowling looks very ordinary, not sure how is getting wickets.
 
Good to see Shaan going ahead and get a 50. Now he needs to convert this and show what he is made of.
 
Looks pretty easy to bat out there, only if these two could last until tea at the rate they are going.
 
Isa Guha thinks everything is out, She reacts to every appeal like it’s a sure shot thing and the batsman is gone.
 
Should send in Yasir next if there's hope of getting a draw

Again Masood gets soft dismissal , when he was looking good. Pakistan batsmen need to get big hundreds when set.

Test cricket is truly dying outside 3-4 countries - so many things wrong in that one shot from a set opener... it's just not Test cricket.
 
I have seen Younis Khan constructing a test innings. Compared to that this bunch is appalling.
 
I bet Iftikhar is thinking he could be sitting in the pavilion right now instead of running around for nothing.

Shaan should be made to walk to team hotel today for that shot. Or do 1000 push ups.

Wrong. Shaan doesn’t know how to construct an innings at test level. I would argue that he’s too patient.
 
Every delivery that those two block, every drive and pull they make looks as if they are about to get out.

It’s daylight and the ball is 46 overs old.

This is the best chance Iftikhar will ever get to score easy Test runs.
 
Pakistan should really up the rate to 4+ runs an over.

When the lights come on they will roll.

Time for Rizwan and Ifti to make up for their terrible dismissals in the first innings.
 
You have to credit the Aussie Think tank, their angles field placings for Lyon were spot on. On a flat wicket he managed to dry up the runs.

Just compare this to our think tank of Misbah and Waqar where the bowlers just keep doing the same thing again and again, no change in bowling angles, no change in field placings to dry up the runs and build pressure
 
Lets see if the tail wags twice. These two will probably last another 15 overs at best.

What has Asad done with his decade of constant selection?

At least Azhar has some achievements

Asad’s only achievement is being a specialist in making losses more respectable, you can count on one hand the times he has performed when we really needed him.

He is a very nice guy, but that shouldn’t detract from his failures, he can’t average 40 with the bat

For someone who has played 80 odd tests, his good is just not good enough. He goes missing when the conditions are tough. He only scored here when the sun was out and there was little movement and managed to fall to an obvious trap.

Why only this series, Asad has done extremely well for the last 7 years of his career..... for himself.


Plays really well for himself to save his place but the team suffers. This is how PCB mafia have destroyed Pakistan national team, team can lose but these few doing 40 odd in a losing cause is good enough to select these losers again. If this was Australia or New Zealand, Shafiq would not have played for the country again. Shameless individual who knows how to stay in the team, whether the team continues to lose.

Come on man no matter what you support your team... I have seen a few Zimbabweans always turning up with their flags and even Afghanistan...they are playing a test here and I’m sure a few people will definitely turn up.i
 
Probably the most easiest session for Pakistani batsmen, and still they were'nt able to hold on. GAve Australia 2 wickets which they'll take happily.

There was no swing or seam, there was not even that much bounce. Only Lyon was spinning the bowl and it was'nt that threatening. Most of the Aussie bowlers look frustrated and tired. It was excellent opportunity for Shan and Asad to bat out the session, but as expected these selfish individuals reached their milestones and got out, to help PCB mafia retain them for next series against Sri Lanka.Stupid shot by Masood off Lyon to get out, this guy is nowhere first class cricket material.
