Let me preface this by saying that I largely agree on sanctions that the trio face and I hope it sets a precedent for all teams to follow

However, the moralising by some teams has become a bit much ( don't care for Warner).

In particular, I find the response from the English players both current and former to be the height of hypocrisy. Forgetting their own issues with the ball the ECB currently is aiding and protecting a player who is facing a criminal trial .

Stokes actually could have killed someone if that guy's head fell against the road rather than his ba
ck. Further, that person was not even the one who hit Stokes in the first place.
Not to mention Hales who kicked a person in the face while they were down and seems to have completely gotten away with it.

We all need some perspective, and the likes of Swann and Broad can put some tape on their lips

Speaking of which

The Aussies panicked and lost their minds, even the Don once nicked to slip and didn't walk in an Ashes test. The ECB did the right thing, innocent till proven guilty.

Difference being CA are punishing smith for what they perceive as damage his actions have caused to reputation of cricket in Australia and he is guilty. While stokes hasn't yet been pronounced guilty and his actions as an individual don't affect anyone else. Not to mention ECB will drop stokes the moment he is proven guilty.

This is comparing Oranges with Apples.

As if Warner was banned for years for punching joe root.
Strokes punishment will be decided by court where he is innocent till proven guilty.

By that logic CA should have just accepted the ICC bans.

The ECB have stated further punishment (in addition to the suspension he's already served) will be decided on following the conclusion of the legal side of things.

Aussie's should quit getting their knickers in a twist. They are a country of disgraceful cheats. Period

Really good point and a very valid one too.

Lots of hypocrites in the world of cricket out there at the moment.

Some of the English pundits have been saying the punishment for Smith and co is fair . But Stokes being intergrated and selected straight away after nearly killing someone is fair?

Poms are hypocrites.

Some former England cricketers (I'm sure you know who I mean) are jumping up and down regarding Warner, Smith and Bancroft, but these cheerleaders were silent when it came to Stokes nearly killing a member of the public.

I don't like the guy, but there is no need to hang, draw and quarter Stokes before the outcome of the judicial proceedings is clear. Innocent until proven otherwise. The ECB don't need to claim their pound of flesh before then, much as the public would like to see.

Should people lose their job every time the break the law? No is the simple answer, i am a teacher i have more responsibility than say a shop worker because of child protection issues etc. Stokes has already missed the Ashes and wrongly in my opinion, and even if he is guilty why should he be punished more by the ECB.

The Aussie bans are totally ludicrous, ball tampering has always gone on and its always premeditated, in this series both teams have been doing it, Rabada has swung it just as much, who has been tampering with the ball for them? I have seen our bowlers do it, as well as Englands, NZ and India's.

One was a cricketing incidence, the other was not. Stokes was out of the biggest series of the year while his case was being investigated and trial dates were being set. What more could the ECB do? Now that trial dates have been set, the ECB are awaiting an outcome. A guilty verdict would likely carry a fine under criminal law, probably a suspended sentence or community service, but the ECB would likely impose their own suspension.

Hales does have a pretty peculiar way of getting away with it, but I have not followed his case as closely.

Cannot be compared.

Stokes incident was OFF the field, in his private time, while Aussie Trio incident was ON the field.

Quite so. Stokes has not been found Guilty of anything. Until he is, an ECB ban would be inappropriate and possibly illegal.

Presuming you're referring to Vaughan who made comments such as "Yes, he's 26 years of age, he should be more mature, he has made a massive mistake and I have no sympathy for Ben Stokes whatsoever" after the incident?
