What's new

Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi are two of the most overrated players in Pakistan cricket

This clown needs to have his social media account blocked. And those making excuses of winning the toss and electing to field was a wrong decision, what would they say if we batted first and gotten out for 100 runs with India chasing it in 7 overs?
Looks like he is on payroll of 🔔

I would say we would still have lost because the difference in skill between the two sides is massive. However, I don't think the hammering would have been this bonafide given the conditions. We lost the game there and then, taking away whatever little chance we had as a weaker team.

Babar can stick to odi and tests. Forced selection after horrible record in bbl and even seeing records of lowest strike rate among batters over 500 runs in world t20 which mind include more minnow games then big team usually. Plus playing at 4 knowing he is more of timing player of newer harder ball and cant handle spin even worse.

Shaheen again proving useless particularly after injury shoved and persisted after clearly being outperformed by salman mirza in first game shows our seniority culture. Even Nasim could have been better based on recent form. Or just bowl 2 more overs of salman agha.

Shadab is till okay , has recently evolved batting bit more.

Nawaz also okay.

Babar's performance in Test Cricket is a joke.

Anyone who suggests that he can play test cricket should nt comment on cricket because that person got no idea about Cricket

Babar As Test captain produced straight Roads in home series against Sena Teams from 2020-2023 to inflate his average and stats. PCT could nt win a single test at home in 3 years against Eng , Aus and NZ. Since 2023 , Babar averages below 30 in test cricket. any half decent batsman would do better. He failed against Bangaldesh and WI at home. could nt score 200 runs in 8 innings combined against two mediocre test teams

We might replace them and we should do but the problem is there replacement will not perform as well.
So? Net would still be zero. Nothing gained and nothing lost.

But there is a higher chance that the replacements will outperform these non-performers. So, its likely going to be a net positive.

Now watch how Babar shows up against Namibia and @RizwanT20Champ starts dancing again.
Babar and Shaheen have been treated badly and this is the result. Babar's position is as an opener and he is the most successful opener in T20I history. You make him bat below tulla captain who averages 23 at 120 SR and minnow basher hack slogger Farhan and this is the result. Do all the bhangra you want but as long as you don't fix the fundamentals nothing will change.

People like @Mobashir think he is the best

So if this is the ordinary fans thinking, selectors thinking may not be too different

Pitch Played better in 2nd innings compared to 1st. :kp

Babar has been bad from 2022. I don't know what happened but it really feels that Ramiz Raja took Babar's form with him once he left the PCB office.

He's someone who is just trying to protect his "legacy" and not someone building it. He was dropped but then brought back without any performance which was a terrible call by the selectors. He should have just played domestic cricket and PSL but a rushed comeback has now added even more pressure on him & he was already struggling.

Shaheen had an almost career threatening injury plus he has an elbow condition (his soft tendons hurt) so he's not the same person as he was in 2022. Maybe it's the fear of getting injured or just picking an easier life, he is sitting out of red ball cricket meaning that his skills which were already lower after the injury are deteriorating fast. Hitting a test length is a skill that he already struggled but now it seems that he has totally lost it.

T20 cricket is generally played on two sorts of wickets. In bilateral series, the pitches often tend to suit the home side so if it's a home series, Shaheen/Babar can perform a bit & maintain relevant. When it's an away series or ICC tournaments where pitches are a bit different & require test bowling/battings skills, they both struggle.

They aren't overrated because no one has rated them in a long time. Unfortunately, this has been the lifecycle of Pak cricketers over the last two decades.

Phase 1: Player makes a strong start (Hype to the moon & back)
Phase 2: Players stagnates (Stage 1: Frustration. Stage 2: Anger. Stage 3: Eventual resentment)
Phase 3: Player is sent back to the island of irrelevance (Becomes a TV pundit/starts a Youtube channel)
Phase 4: Another player makes a strong start (Hype to the moon & back)

The new players on this merry go round in phase 1/4 are - Nafay, Maaz, Usman Tariq, & Sameer. Wait for PSL to have more names here.

Players who were previously hyped but in different stages of phase 2 are - Saim (frustration phase). Haris, Shaheen, Babar, Nawaz, Shadab, Fakhar (resentment stage). Players can jump from resentment to frustration phase if they perform in a match or two e.g. Fahim went from parchi status to frustration stage.

Phase 3 players are: Imad. Rizwan. Amir.

It's India, that's why so much emotion is pouring out. It would be another usual day for us if we had got humbled like this by Australia, England and South Africa. That would actually be worse, because all three are much inferior teams to India in T20 cricket, but yeah no one will bat an eye-lid.

We have to first start to play consistently good cricket against the likes of Australia, England, New Zealand and South Africa, then expect us to go at even keel with India. The decision to bowl first tomorrow literally reeked of arrogance as they thought they could compete with India as equals, when you have to devise your tactics according to your strengths. Basically gave India a free hit at setting up a total and put themselves under pressure on a difficult pitch which got slower as the game went on.
South africa have never beat us in World T20s (4 games) we have a 5-2 winning record vs NZ ,

competitive 3-4 against Australia,

Only England and India have the wood over us.

According to Pakistan media's Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi are likely to be dropped against Namibia. :klopp :kp

It got slower, as Premadasa always does. Pakistan is a garbage chasing team on flat wickets, forget about these conditions.

That spin degree stat was apt but mis-led people into thinking that the pitch got easier. You can have less spin but pitch slowing down, which does happen at this ground.

Anyways, no point arguing about it. We would still have lost.

This current team will drop games to all top five teams, more often than not. The skill and quality is missing, and that specially shows up under pressure where these boys look shell-shocked.

Shaheeen is supposedly 25 years old. This is when he’s supposed to be at his prime. Yet he plays like a washed up 34 year old.

Shaheen might have had couple decent deliveries in his career, but he’s never had a prime era or impact.

One of the most ridiculous cricketing careers of Pakistan.

Babar, Shadab & Shaheen show the importance of formal education. No questions about that.
Shaheen was an elite limited overs bower from 2018-2022, there’s no need to rewrite history.

Shadab has been straight garbage his entire career and is another in a long list of Pakistani gimmick ‘all rounders’

Babar is just a mental midget who’s underachieved for his ability, but in the grand scheme of things he’s still a top 3 Pakistani batter of all time - which speaks more to our pathetic standards than it says anything about Babar because his record outside of minnow bashing and bullying B teams in random bilateral series that no one give a sh*t about is pretty pathetic.

Saqlain Mushtaq on TV show said that Pakistan team have all match winners, but they are not clear.

Has anyone understand this statement?
He means my damaad is a match winner.

Just to protect his son in law he will not call out these pathetic expired cricketers cuz Shadab is at the top of the list!

Hope so but I still expect them not to drop babar

Shadab or Nawaz (one of them)!also needs to be dumped

What are stats for Babar in WT20s while opening please?

Not long ago both RizBar opening combo was excellent. Maybe Babr has to open again where he can find the gaps and score quicker. Afgha needs to be 4 or 5. Saim Ayub failed in BPL for my team. He needs to step up, its about consistent not some flashy small cameos at the top.

The Indians players are consistent, mentally well prepared and never let the occasion get to them. Hence why they get the result .

Excellent in what? In striking at 110 during WT20s?

Both of them getting dropped is running like an old-fashioned news flashes to get reactions.

One needs to realise this is the nth time they're getting dropped and it's habitual PCB trait to start them and then bench them due to poor form. And this is all on the PCB selection committee.

The other damaad will keep his place because the lobby behind him is to become skipper after this tournament. So they're desperate for him to perform in one match.

Next in this media created hypercricketer is sahib zada farhan
No one is hyping Farhan. Literally, you can hear any decent Pak analyst tell you, Farhan is extremely limited batsman. Can only hit at few places otherwise dots/misses/mishits/ or out.

Appeal to remove Shaheen from title :faf

Shaheen Afridi - 134**
Haris Rauf - 133
Shadab Khan - 123*
M Nawaz - 98*

Shaheen Afridi is now the leading wicket-taker for Pakistan in Men's T20 Internationals.
