Babar Azam: Rankings watch in Test matches

Kohli, Smith, Root,Kane are past their prime.

Babar is in a very good position to dominate world cricket for 5-10 years minimum

Thats why its a shame COVID is delaying his imminent rain and taking a few years from what may be his peak.

I understand. It sucks for Kohli Smith too who are on course to get closer to Tednulkars records. Covid and the unpredictable foreseeable future has jeopardized many such transitional and natural course of actions.

By all means , Babar Azam should have already surpassed the other declining and ageing batting superstars. It's sad that Pakistan isn't playing enough cricket atthe very top.

Not only should Bobby be playing more but he should he playing more marque series against the Big 3 for visibility sake

Babar moves to 5th positions after 2nd Test v England

Has maintained 5th position at end of the 3-match Test series

I think Babar Azam can become #2 in the world.

#1 belongs to Steven Smith unless his form goes away.

Kohli isn't that big of a deal in Test. He is the best in ODI though.

I think Babar can become a better Test batsman than Kohli.

Won’t - not in current state. He is a brilliant stroke maker, but not one who’ll take the game out of your reach once set. Kohli is Sr by age, so yes when he crossed 35, he’ll decline, but not in next 2-3 years Babar is going to catch him.

For now he and us fans should be more than happy and should settle with, 1, 2,3 rank, 1in T20, 2-in ODI behind Kohli, 3 in test Behind Smith and Kohli, so across formats he can be second best After kohli in next 5 years, And this is as good as it gets, no other batsman can aim higher till Kohli and Smith retire.

And a Pak batsman in possibly in top 3 in all formats, that never happened before I think and may never happen again, by the time babar retires he should and will be Best ever Pak batsmen by every metric and stats. maybe not impact wise but stats wise he will be definitely InshAllah. And we should also be thankful we have him.

Yes he is, look at his numbers since that Australia tour in 2014 -

Mats - 57
Inns - 94
Runs - 5385
Ave - 61.19
SR - 60.86
100's - 21
50's - 13

Just look at his performances he's dominated everywhere he's played and won his teams games in all types of conditions. Babar is far far behind Kohli in all formats. Kohli wasn't that great in Tests in his first started out indeed, his first 30 games he averaged under 40, however, ever since that Aussie Tour in 2014 he's turned it around and the only reason he's not regarded as the best test batsman in the world is due to Steve Smith. Babar has a long way to go before catching up to Kohli.

Babar Azam has dropped down to #7 in the Test match batting rankings
