What about Chris Gayle?

He made 44 balls 100 (the fastest hundred of BPL) while playing against Sylhet Royals at Mirpur in the inaugural season of BPL. It was the first match of the BPL 2012 where Barisal Burners and Sylhet Royals were facing each other at Mirpur.
Gayle is one of the legends of this format.

I think the point @Rana is making is that BPL is a low quality league and Babar playing there is because he wants to pad his performances by scoring big

Yes, that is what I am saying that players like Gayle have played this league to enhance their cricketing skills. No league is bad to play if you are looking to enhance yourself as a player in terms of cricket and as a human being.

Won't be long till he signs up for the Nepal T20 league.
That’s if the Ramadhan Cup doesn’t count as an official T20 league. PCB allows only 2 t20 leagues for its central contracted players

Come on mate

Chris Gayle has seen it all, done it all. He’s 50 years old and is done with cricket. Not at his prime like Babar 28 years old

Babar is not playing this league because it is top class or low class league. He is simply playing because he is trying to improve his gameplay against spin attacks, as BPL grounds are known to be spinning tracks most of the time. Basically he is trying to improve his skill set by playing this league. People should respect this decision of Babar.

Jee bilkul

What did he hope to achieve playing the Hundred? To improve his strike rate?

Actually his strike rate did improve because his hitting abilities have enhanced in comparison to a year ago. I don't know whether is it for playing Hundred or not, but Babar has been improving his skill constantly.

I just checked our FTP calendar, there is no space at all. Are Babar and Shaheen (who has signed for ilt20 for the next 3 years) planning on skipping bilateral cricket for these leagues?

Looks very likely as they have not signed the annual PCB contract as well till now. What is happening? Just finish bilateral cricket instead of fielding second tier sides

It's probably more about earning money.

I may be wrong but the impression I get from social media is that Babar's brothers also live very lavish lifestyles, buying expensive cars, flying business class etc and I assume that is all covered by Babar. It's an issue in Pakistani culture generally that the dependency ratio is very high with one family member often having to cover multiple people's expenses. Unlike South East Asia (for e.g.) where everyone (including the women of the family) will be working and the dependency ratio is lower.

Players play in these leagues in order to earn monies. It has nothing to do with any other factor.

T20 is easy money for players.

I got confused for a second that there wasnt any Rangpur in Bharat Premier League (assuming the name changing does take place).

Good for babar

He's going to get good money and playing in spin friendly conditions as well.

Its fine, better than ILT20.

Babar fans be like "he didn't get picked for the Hundred because he chose to participate in the Ramadhan cup instead". :ROFLMAO:

“He chose the Ramadhan cup because that helps with physical fitness. Extremely difficult to challenge your body in such a demanding cup”

When the news came in that he was going to play in the Ramadhan Cup, I was getting second hand embarrassment

BPL is older than PSL. It was good in the first season some players like Afridi went for 700K+ if it was organised better it could’ve been much better. But BPL is ultra poorly managed and has poor marketing the organisers have ruined it. Corruption hasn’t helped. I remember I think it was last bpl or one before seeing YT news report than many people even in the country’s capital where most the matches takes place, didnt even know much about it being on as its not well advertised and marketed!

Wickets are too tricky in bangladesh specially for T20s.

Babar can get the edge playing with slow SR because of such Pitches.
