Bangladesh Premier League 2025 - Pakistan player’s performance watch

Usman Khan could light up the show for Chittagong Kings as he scored 10*(7) against Khulna Tigers.

Pakistani bowlers excel for Khulna Tigers against Chittagong Kings

Salman Irshad: 3/31 (4 overs)
Mohammad Nawaz: 3/29 (4 overs)

Chittagong Kings' Mohammad Wasim made a valuable contribution to his side's 45-run victory over Khulna Tigers, delivering figures of 1/31 in 4 overs.

Durbar Rajshahi vs Sylhet Strikers:

Durbar Rajshahi:
Mohammad Haris scored just 19 off 14 balls and got out now..

Jarrord Kimber shared a video that could be a potential spot fixing/irregular betting pattern issue & while none of the players who are doubtful belong to Pak, unfortunately Khushdil & Iftikhar were batting at the time when the weird pattern emerged.

This is why these leagues scare me & I don't always want our brightest to participate in these. Come back Akif or be super careful so you don't get involved into anything that is out of the ordinary.

All murky business even if you closely watch IPL there are weird patterns or strange stuff

Match Fixing in BPL? Renowned Cricket Analyst Highlights Major Irregularities

Renowned Cricket analyst, Jarrod Kimber has turned the spotlight on some questionable betting market behavior during the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), particularly calling attention to three games including a fixture between Dhaka Capital and Rangpur Riders on January 7.

Kimber has raised concerns about unusual betting patterns in these matches and highlighted some potentially problematic events (without accusing anyone of match-fixing.)

His observations come on the back of irregularities that have previously plagued the Bangladesh Premier League among some other financial issues.

Anomalous Betting Movements on January 7

Jarrod Kimber, in his meticulously crafted investigation, brings attention to the BPL match on January 7 between Dhaka Capital and Rangpur Riders. After being dismissed for 111, Capital failed to stop an Alex Hales onslaught as the betting line for 10 over bracket stood at 78.5.

With Hales gone, the Riders still needed 18 runs from eight balls to surpass the 10-over bracket. Despite the usual trend, large sums of money were placed on the line, betting that the run target would still be achievable despite the stage which is a mathematical risk.

What happened next was an extraordinary sequence of events that caught Kimber’s attention.

In the 10th over, with 12 needed off four balls for the mark to hit, the betting market received substantial bets on the team exceeding 78.5 runs—despite the odds being increasingly stacked against them.

Then came a series of three wides in a row—extremely rare in professional T20 cricket. Kimber’s research confirmed that three consecutive wides in the 10th over of a match was an occurrence seen in only 0.1% of overs across 2919 games. These wides were not marginal calls by the umpires but blatant deliveries, with one going for five wides down the leg side, another nearly missing the pitch, and a third being called a wide as it strayed far outside the guideline.

What followed was an unprecedented turn of events, as the wides contributed significantly to the required score, pushing the line to 78.5 and fulfilling the market’s bet.

Other Irregularities in the BPL on January 7

While the Dhaka Capital-Rangpur Riders game garnered attention for its betting anomalies, another match in the BPL on the same day, between Sylhet Strikers and Fortune Barishal, exhibited peculiar betting patterns as well.

The Strikers, batting first, were given only a 17.5% chance of winning after losing an early wicket in the third over. This drastic swing in odds appeared disproportionate to the situation, especially considering the Strikers’ solid batting lineup and the incipient stage of the game.

Strikers were eventually dismissed for 125 and Fortune Barishal eased to a 7-wicket win, proving the bettors right once again.

Sylhet Strikers vs Dhaka Capital on January 10

Jarrod Kimber’s last piece of noteworthy evidence is the January 10th fixture between Sylhet Strikers and Dhaka Capital. While chasing 194 for the win, Dhaka’s six-over run line was set at 66 which shifted to 67 despite the team reeling at 41/3 after 4.1 overs.

Betting logic would dictate the money to be on the underside of the equation yet a large sum was placed on the score being over the line. With 11 runs left at the end of the 5th over, Shubham Ranjane, a part-timer, was handed the ball defying cricketing logic. A wide, a no ball and four boundaries off loose deliveries later, the betting line had been breached again.

Bangladesh Premier League’s Betting Markets:

Rob Barron, head of Cricket for Decimal Data Services, explained that Bangladesh Premier League betting markets have been known to behave erratically compared to other major T20 competitions.

He pointed out that sometimes the market misinterprets the cricket being played, with odds fluctuating wildly despite the match showing no clear indication of a shift in momentum.

Barron further stated that, unlike other T20 leagues, the BPL’s betting patterns often do not follow expected cricketing trends. This unpredictability has raised concerns about transparency, particularly given how often the odds seem disconnected from the actual play on the field.

Insiders, including professional bettors, have long avoided placing wagers on the BPL due to the erratic nature of its markets.

Kimber’s observations align with these insights, highlighting how some games seem to follow a pattern that defies normal statistical analysis. While there are certainly high and low points in any cricket match, the rapid shifts in the odds and betting behavior in the BPL raise red flags that deserve closer scrutiny.

While Jarrod Kimber is careful not to accuse anyone of match-fixing, his investigative approach has exposed some concerning trends in the BPL, especially surrounding betting markets.

The anomalous behavior during the Dhaka-Rangpur match, particularly the series of wides in the 10th over, exemplifies how betting patterns can sometimes appear to align too conveniently with the outcome of a match.

With a history of irregularities—such as player payment issues and match-fixing allegations—the BPL’s reputation has already been under scrutiny. Now, with betting syndicates playing a key role in influencing the odds, the league’s credibility faces additional challenges.

Kimber’s investigation calls for more transparency and vigilance, urging fans and authorities alike to pay attention to these potentially harmful anomalies in the BPL’s betting landscape.

Haris has been a major disappointment. Usman started ok but is fading. Don't know about Haider because he wasn't really having a good tournament to start with. Haris can't even complain that he's not given a chance as he's the opener. Some of his shot selection is truly atrocious & shows how our players really never improve.

I hope Jarrod Kimber uses all the Algorithms , simulations, Opta and Supercomputer for IPL games also.

Usman Khan is the best player out of these 3. Haris probably has the most talent but he needs to use his brain more while batting.

A player won't be able to perform in every game.

Not sure how accurate the speed guns are but the guy is looking good, not sure if he's ready for International cricket because of the step up in quality but has looked the best fast bowler in BPL (easily)

Good to see young Nafay scoring.

He has a big future for the Green shirts.

Saad Naseem, who was picked by Durbar Rajshahi, submitted his NOC but didn’t join as the franchise failed to cover his travel expenses. Assistant coach Iftikhar Anjum and analyst Faisal have also exited after not receiving their salaries. Despite raising concerns, the BCB has remained silent on the issue.
