Balochistan’s squad includes 55 per cent local players, which is a jump by 10 per cent from the last season as the PCB continues its efforts to develop the game in the province and provide opportunities to the youth to establish their careers as cricketers.

In line with the promotion of the sport in the province, the PCB will commence the 2021-22 season from Quetta’s picturesque Bugti Stadium with the Cricket Associations T20 tournament starting on 15 September.

The six squads will gather at the major centres in their jurisdictions for the pre-season camp from Sunday.

Balochistan will have their camp at Quetta’s Bugti Stadium, Central Punjab’s will be conducted at LCCA Ground, Lahore, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s at Abbottabad Cricket Stadium, Northern’s at House of Northern, Islamabad, Sindh’s at National Stadium, Karachi and Southern Punjab’s at Multan Cricket Stadium.

Balochistan head coach Faisal Iqbal: “The CCA tournament provided a great opportunity to me to watch the upcoming cricketers of Balochistan and it helped me in further increasing the percentage of players in the squad. Last year, we had 45 per cent local players, which has now gone up to 55 per cent, which is a great sign for Balochistan cricket. Many of these top performers will be getting opportunities in the Second XI side, so when they reach the First XI team, they are well-prepared for the challenge, and can progress to Pakistan team.”

Realistically speaking - what are the chances that these players will ever play for Pakistan?

On the other hand, T20 tournament starting off in Bugti Stadium is a huge first.

Usama Mir was asked to come to the trials but did not make it to the squad list.

Maybe one of these guys will be the one that's PK spin back on the quality road after a lean period.

Who is Abdul hanan?

Not must wrist spin options in this squad as well like the SP. Having some wrist spin option in the squad always comes in handy atleast in whiteball cricket.

One controversial thing that has come out is 35 year old Fahad Iqbal who is Faisal Iqbal's brother, very average player has been selected by Faisal.

Pakistan Zindabad!

Nothing changes.

Whats the thinking behind Balochistan’s squad?

Ayyaz Tassawar(30)
Akbar ur Rehman (38)
?

And quite a few others in the squad are not even from Balochistan and are far from world beaters in domestic cricket. Yes on the day can play maybe somewhat decent knock or so but, what exactly is the point?

On the other hand we have guys like Abdullah Shafique, Qasim Akram, Mohammad Haris, Saud Shakeel, Mohammad Taha, Mohammad Hurraira, Omair Yousuf warming the benches or missed out on squad selections.

Same is the case with Yasir Shah or Kashif Bhatti at this age in T20 format. Why not have Raza Hassan, Shahzaib Ahmed or Usama Mir.

I am all up for local Baloch talent like Bangalzai, Bismillah Khan and others to get opportunities but, why is this team’s selection like “lets selected few pointless oldies”.

When you have 6 teams you need to use them best to give opportunities to potential future players.

PK cricket is based around Panjis, where you scratch each others backs for mutual benefit. This disgraceful rubbish has and will continue to hold us back.

Terrible, Terrible side.

Only real asset is Akif Javed. The entire squad/region could be wiped out and it would make no difference to the competition, in fact it will improve the standard

Faisal Iqbal selecting batsmen averaging 13 18 19 and 21 in the top 5 should be investigated, I feel like this is a trick to select his own brother fahad Iqbal who averages a shade over 30 at 106

One of the worst performances for a while in QeA by Balochistan - is this an issue with team selection?

Magnificent Pakistan Cup campaign from the Balochistan boys !

Unbelievable that the perennial whipping boys have stopped KPK from achieving a second successive treble.

Great achievement by Balochistan Well deserved and good to see that they backed a few youngsters.
