Looks like at under-19 level BD is team like Senior Australian side. They are probably a side to beat. They have won 10 matches in a row. They have competed well everywhere. You are equating BD senior and BD under-19. The difference between BD senior and BD under-19 is less. But difference between say Australian-19 and Australian senior is very high.

What's more just before the 1983 WC we had an ODI series in WI where we beat them in one of the matches scoring 282 runs in just 47 overs which was unheard of in that era, Kapil played an epic knock of 72 at almost 200 SR. WI was almost invincible, more so in ODI those days.

They won the decider to take the series 2-1. A few days later in the WC we beat them twice. Then as you mentioned we won the B&H 1985 cementing our status as a top ODI team. 80s wasn't a successful era for us but for those 3-4 years in between we were a top ODI side.
