R u blind? Half of their players are recruited from India or Pakistan. Now even with that they straggle to win a odi series against full test nation.

If Australia and SA would say that may be we can have a dialogue. We only beat them once in ODIs. At any rate, we are looking forward to their series as well.

Wait our players are from India/Pakistan, what has the world come to?

I mean they have deep roots in Pakistan and India, but their instant ancestors are Bangladeshi, they look Bangladeshi, they were born in it, spoke the native tongue. Anything more?

Like Sam_ahm mentioned in his previous post, the quality of posts in this forum has gone downhill
 
Beating Pakistan does not make Bangladesh world-beaters!

Bangladesh fans think that after beating the pakistan team they have become some kind of world beaters.The Asian Giants as some people are calling it. First off Pakistan are going through a tough phase and you guys beat them when they were already bruised by selection matters,inexperience and players hogging the limelight who were way past there prime. So you guys didnt do anything great by beating a team which is already down.Yeah but credit to you for still beating them coz you saw ur first series victory against a proper team..But but but with all the delusional thoughts that am hearing on PP that you guys gonna thrash india is delusion of the highest order..There is a saying here in hindi ( Bhaiya itne hi pair felawo jitni lambi chaddar ho ) You guys are known to whine and cry so do the same coz the series coming up will clear all your delusions and put you in your place which is 9th in the table of the ICC rankings coz there is no fun in playing bangladesh coz we know that you still dont have what it takes ..You just got lucky !! The teams would like to face an unpredictable pakistan rather than a below average team like bangladesh..

If India weren't scared they wouldn't have sent a full squad to Bangladesh like last time. If Bangladesh were a non-threat BCCI would've sent their water boys Stuart Binny, Robin Utappa, Ishant Sharma, Piyush Chawla, etc and rested their rockstars Kohli, Rahane, Jadeja etc. But this is a new Bangladesh, making heads turn, diapers leak, and jaws drop.

fgs if this continues then I think its better that we fans leave the forum. No interest into enter a forum only to be greeted with such nonsense.

Maybe because that has been the case with many Bangladesh supporters, not just on PP, but in general. A lot of your fans have indicated that they are world beaters and can dominate teams like Australia. Look, you outplayed Pakistan, great job. But at the same time, you still have a long way to go, especially in Test cricket. Your team has definitely improved, no doubt about that, but a series will not all of sudden make you an Asian Giant. Even if a lot of your fans on this forum are trolls, I have noticed this type of behavior throughout other cricket sites and its disappointing. My only explanation for it is: Bangladesh fans haven't witnessed a lot of victories with their team, and when they finally win a good series, they over-react and get overly-excited.

Unfortunately for you, you may be one of the more sane posters here, but your amigos ruin your supporters image and things won't change unless your fans begin to take things a step at a time with a reality check.

I don't see how fans on PP are any different, one win vs south Africa after losing to west indies by 150 runs and barely making into the quartefinals and Pakistan fans open up threads like mark my words we will thrash Australia in the quarterfinals. And Mukhtar Ahmed is the next biggest star in cricket(After scoring runs vs mighty Zimbabwe)

Infact you won't see hate threads like these as much in the Bangladesh forums for any country. Overhyping exists here and everywhere too so stop pointing fingers at other fans.

Giving test status to Ireland before 2011 would have been a big mistake. Ireland is more ready now. Just add Rankin & 1 more fast bowler to the current Irish team and they will be as good as teams ranked 6-9
 
Lets not degrade BD team for the faults and cockiness of its few fans. BD team has done wonders for its position in world cricket and there are sure signs of improvement for which the team should be lauded.

I agree though that it gets irritating when certain BD fans make claims which would even make shakib cringe, i hope they will taste the reality soon.

The amount of hatred and negative attitude towards BD is too damn high in PP now lol.

I enjoyed coming to PP before big ICC events and then decided to join the site before the recent Pak-BD series. I tried to give some basic overview of Bd team for the Pak fans here. If Bd fans were really cocky and felt like they are world beaters, then I would have pumped my chest after every win and brag about my team. But I didn't.

It was a good series win and we still have a long way to go. The team is coming into a good shape but a good series or two doesn't make us Asian giant or any giant for that matter. We are trying to be a decent team and if we can achieve that in the next few years then I am happy.

Tamim Iqbal was recently asked where does he want to see BD hen he retires? (He is 26 now and so have around 8-10 years left). He said I don't expect us to be at the top but I'll be content if we can go to mid table. So even after 10 years he wants to be middle of the table, shows he knows that we have long long way to go.

So neither the fans not the players think of themselves as world beaters.

*but I agree that there are some BD idiot fans in social media who will say such idiotic stuff. But every country has such idiots. These are new fair weather fans who will say these things when we win but go into hiding and watch football when we lose haha.

If any Bangladeshi laughs at you, the platform was there made by you. Before the start of the series many Pakistanis were thumping on their chest and making mockery of us pointing towards the winless 16 years of us. You people forgot that the last 2 ODIs we played against you could have gone our way, those were so close.So what is the fault if any Bangladeshi pokes back at you after the whitewash.That is very sensible and that's why PP is an enjoyable forum for all nationalists here.

We do recognize your help towards us in cricket and we will.But it doesn't give you a free license of making threads out of hatred towards us.There is every now and then there is irrelevant threads like this on Bangladesh and the message is the same.So annoying this kind of ridiculous thread are those. One same thread is already merged here by the administrators with this

You should accept the fact that we are not minnows in ODIs any more , at least at home .Don't be over the moon with the win against the dismal Zimbabweans. We whitewashed them 5-0 and 3-0 in ODIs and tests with Brendon Taylor in the side

I am sorry but if you are a cricket fan then it must be really insulting for the sport. You really haven't followed us over the course of the time hence such weird comments. Anyways arguing with folks like you is useless because you have some sort of grudge against Bangladesh, or in other words you are a blind hater. Trust me even if we ever win a WC you would still claim that it was a fluke win and such.
 
BD are no minnows or Push overs. Yes they are not world beaters but surely they are NOW a decent team. I will put them something of Pre 1996 SL team who had the potential to beat many good teams and were not taken lightly but in majority of cases lost against bigger team. Like that SL team they have players who are developing and if all goes well they can improve in future.

Having said that there are a small bunch of bufoon fans like there are for every sports team who get over excited. For our own good health we should ignore them and let them be happy in their own world :)

I think you need to improve alot but you lack basic infrastructure for that and it was wrong to give you guys test status!

No matter how (badly) they perform, there'll still be a whole lot of chest thumping and brash statements next year when they come over to Eden Gardens for a test, where they shall lose equally badly.

I think Bangladesh should stop playing Test cricket and just concentrate on ODI's and T20's. Five day cricket needs to be banned in Bangladesh, number 1 reason = not good enough, number 2 = waste of time.

Still minnows in Test cricket.

On their way to alienate themselves from minnow tag.But the fact that in test arena they are still not in that level to beat teams convincingly doesn't qualify their position alongside good teams.
 
Yeah would love to do well in tests, but lets atleast start winning T20s for a start :shakib
 
Bangladesh haven't played many Tests since their resurgence in 2015. In one of the Tests they had South Africa under the pump. I'm sure even in Tests with bowlers like Mustafiz and Taskin, Bangladesh will look an improved side.

As for T20s, this is certainly a big win for Bangladesh despite the opposition. Tamim should strengthen the team when he returns. Still need to beat some big teams like India, Australia and South Africa to show they have got a hang of this format.
 
India Bangladesh is the only serious cricketing rivalry among the asian teams. Others are just historical or political. But for quality contest, it is India vs Bangladesh.
 
Definitely here to stay. They've developed a very strong system. Won't be surprised to see them in top 5 in all formats within 10-15 years.

why is rubel not playing in Asia cup? I thought he is much batter bowler then al amin... also do Bangladesh have any other express bowlers coming up? other than taskin and mustafiz?

Sadly that is the truth. Pakistan and SL are behind both nations. Pakistan slightly above SL.

he is injured which worsened because he played bpl despite doctors warning... bcb is ****** at rubel for that currently. he will be back...
There is also AH Rony, the highest wicket taker at BPL... too young but will come good.. a lot is expected of him, both are much better than Al-Amin...

3 formats is too much. I'd be very happy if Bangladesh becomes a very good quality limited overs side, and just be content with drawing tests for now with the odd win here and there. Test Cricket is a completely different ball game even if you add 20 and 50 overs together.

Beating a team like SL ina t20 match at home doesnt mean that they are not minnows anymore
Zimbabwe have also beaten Pakistan and WC finalists NZ at home last year
A team will only be recognised as a good team when it is ranked above no 8 in all three formats of the game and can win one or 2 games ina 5 match ODI series/Test series outside home!

So true. Australia are currently ranked 8th in T20s. They suck. They all do. Minnows.
 
Might be the time for some to clear their demurrals as Bangladesh have clearly improved - not saying that they are able to defeat some of the sovereign teams yet on the regular basis but we will probably see that happening very soon
 
Australia, South Africa, India, England, New Zealand -- These are clearly top 5.

Pakistan, West Indies, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh -- I will remain as unbiased as I can and yet to me Bangladesh is number 6 currently (regardless of rankings which comes with the baggage of history and not just recent form). If Pakistan bats well they are clearly in the top tier.

Zimbabwe, Afghanistan and the rest.

They are the 2nd strongest team now, and we have taken their place. This is sad.

What at one time we used to bully them non-stop for 17 years. And now the punching bag is punching and beating up the boxer. What a sight.

This is like a Rocky movie, but Rocky is played by a walking talking punching bag.

Bangladesh is a better ODI side than Pakistan. In T20s, we both are pretty much the same.

Rubel was BD's only regular 140k bowler, where was he injured? He's definitely going to lose some of that pace.
 
Bangladesh is a good ODI team, if they concentrate more on cricket and less on celebrations on field they can be a good Test unit too, I think they will do well with proper guidance
 
Wish some how we can select Cheema just for Bangladesh match. Cheema alone would have destroyed over hyped Bangladesh. How can I forget how he made Bangladesh cry including their Prime Minister.
