Bangladesh senior assistant coach Mohammad Salahuddin said during a press-conference ahead of their last Group A match against Pakistan:
"Before coming into this tournament, five teams have done enough preparations. There was a tri-nation tournament in Pakistan [involving the hosts, South Africa and New Zealand]. India and England also played a series between themselves. What we did? We had to fly two days [one week] after playing in the BPL."
"The preparation is a big thing. So how you plan for it, it's not about the players, those who are in the management, they must also think about it. The board members also have to think in the same manner. It's totally a collective effort and that's how we can think about changes."
"If we were in a good situation, if we didn't lose too many wickets, we could have played that [attack without fear]. When we lost four-five wickets quickly in the first match, it wasn't possible to play in such approach. But still Towhid and Jaker played well later."
"I would say we played really bad in this game [against New Zealand]. The time when we needed to accelerate, we actually couldn't do that. I would say the bowler they chose was good but the execution wasn't good. Along with fearless cricket, we need to play sensibly to play ODI cricket. I would say we didn't make the right shot selection."
"If we don't have the ability, we won't play in the Champions Trophy. The best eight teams came here and as we have the ability, we are here. Sri Lanka, West Indies couldn't make into here. If you say we came here only to participate, we shouldn't come here as well."
"As we have come here, we must have a dream about what we should do. If you don't dream, you can't reach anywhere. I think that we have enough ability to perform here but probably we couldn't show the performance here. So we have to hear these kinds of words. We have to accept that we actually couldn't perform in the ICC big events. But I'm hopeful that we will be able to rectify those problems."
"If you ask me what I came here for, will I say I come here to participate? As a captain, he is the leader of Bangladesh, if he doesn't dream, then how can you dare?"
"If you also ask me why I am here, I will also tell something similar whether I can achieve it or not. But do I tell you that I come here only to participate? It's a simple thing."
