For the first time pak is unsafe for the Pakistan Team..they are in negotiations with ICC to shift their final match out of Pakistan and play in Dubai citing security concerns..

Or another idea, add a new series champions challenge 3 match series world champion Vs a team composed from rest of world or rest of semi finalists.

ya true. Bangaldesh and Afghanistan have absolutely no business here. Bangladesh has not even won Asia cup. How are they going to win CT. You should allow only teams that have potential to win the tournament.
 
I want Pakistan to win. Otherwise the incompetent tigers will go back to Dhaka all smiles as if nothing went wrong and live a happy life with heroes welcome and two 37+yo seniors will stay on for longer.

Correct. BD and Afghanistan qualified fair and square. How is it their fault if Windies and SL couldn't qualify on their own?

Then again, I don't expect good logic from most Indian posters here. They seem to think they are number one in everything (even though they have only won 1 ICC trophy in the last 12 years).

Those teams won enough ODI's to be ranked in the top 8. If you don't allow these teams, how are they going to win? There is always a first time for any team. India achieved zilch in ODI's before their 1983 WC win. I believe this format of this CT is okay. But ODI cricket itself is losing the glamor it had.

World cup started in 1975 lol INdia is the 2nd world cup winner after West Indies. Based on that no other country won anything. Forget about world cup. Has Bangaldesh won Asia cup? Are they close to winning one? With so many T20 leagues in the fray, world T20 every 2 years they have to eliminate unnecessary schedules.

I do have same feeling that King Babar will rise to this occasion and show the real value in him. He will play anchor role and score 100 runs for sure. He would have done that in the last game itself, but he was down with fever and had to play as it was an important match for the team.

Unfortunately, even if it is 10 team tournament, BAN will miss out next time paving the entry for teams like SL, WI and ZIM.

I seriously hope BD will beat Pakistan and then the postmortem of Pakistan team will begin.
 
Prediction :-

Pakistan posts 350 on the board. Someone scores a century. Bangladesh are bowled out for 150-200. Shaheen, Naseem and Haris all have a great night and pick wickets. A comprehensive win for the home team in front of supportive home fans who clap for the team and show solidarity.

I will be supporting the Pakistan team who are our brothers forever against our enemy nation Bangladesh.

hmmm...my sympathies for the travel - yes it is a bit of a pain to sit the 1.5 hours or so in busines class from Karachi/lahore to Dubai + the effort to pack ones bag and sit in the team bus to get to the airport early and the rest of it....
When indian team simply sits & plans the next conspiracy :) ...

But then, can you map the itineraries and the kms travelled for all three teams we are talking about here,
for 2023 ODI cup and T20 2024 WC...and share the findings?

i think the only time india got 2 matches at same venue was at start of 2024 t20 WC else i am pretty sure they travelled to a different venue for all matches ...
Unlike the real AT champs- the two teams who if not for saazish would be making the finals of every ICC tourney and slam dunking every top 10 rankings ever invented. :dhoni

Fair argument. Yes, Bangladesh with such a cricket following in the country could have progressed more. When I saw players like Tamim Iqbal, Mohammed Ashraful, etc along with some good spinners, I thought the team would become a strong force. But they stagnated. Let us hope Afghanistan evolves quickly to a competitive side in world cricket.

The champions trophy itself is a misfit. We all know the ICC does it for money. Ideally ODI wc, T20 wc, and WTC should only be the ICC tournaments.
 
Want to see BD to lose badly, want to see both Mushfiqur and Mahmudullah get out on golden ducks. I know Bd cricket culture too well. If they win this one, they will forget about the failures of CT25 and move on as if nothing went wrong. Most of them have easily satisfied mentality.

Clash of the bottom of the barrel teams. In a way , I hope its not a close game and 1 team loses very badly. Atleast that way , they will make changes to the team. Based on what I saw in PSL, Pak future is still pretty good I would say . Whether they get picked or not is a different matter. If they keep selecting washed up seniors repeatedly , then no hope. On the other hand - the Ban team will be useless for a long time. 25 yrs of test status , following and funding and they are still pathetic. And BPL doesnt inspire any confidence either.
 
The main reason I moved from cricket to Tennis/snooker many years ago was these types of pointless and boring games. All major tournaments should be straight knockout.

"I would say we played really bad in this game [against New Zealand]. The time when we needed to accelerate, we actually couldn't do that. I would say the bowler they chose was good but the execution wasn't good. Along with fearless cricket, we need to play sensibly to play ODI cricket. I would say we didn't make the right shot selection."

"If we don't have the ability, we won't play in the Champions Trophy. The best eight teams came here and as we have the ability, we are here. Sri Lanka, West Indies couldn't make into here. If you say we came here only to participate, we shouldn't come here as well."

Imon and Soumya to open. Drop Mahmdullah. Why was Soumya dropped to make space for the 50yo bura. Soumya sarkar averages 45+ last 11 ODI’s.

I don't know why they keep on selecting Soumya. He is a walking wicket.

If he bowls, I can understand his selection. But, he doesn't bowl nowadays. So, why select him?

His average is inflated by one big century I believe. He is generally not very consistent.
 
I would not treat this as meaningless match. Both teams still have a chance to finish top 5. In a tournament like this it's not always about going to KO.

Pak should still win this comfortably. Especially at home. Let Ban take wooden spoon. Pak still a way better team than Ban in white ball cricket

So you dont want take into consideration that he (Sarkar), has been averaging 45+ last 12 odis? Soumya has done well recent bilateral series’s, has scored 150+ in NZ. One bad game in a dozen matches and you want to drop him and question his selection? But Mushfiq scored only one 50 in his last 15 odi’s. Tanzid averages 20 after 24 matches. Come on man. Some players are slow learners and late bloomers. Liton Das will bloom late too. Sarkar is 200% choice than Tanzid.

No Tanzid is better,that Sarkar is just a mental midget who can only score against minnows and was actually good during 2015 but now is just an awful player.

He is averaging 21 after 23 ODI games. That's not good enough. There is clearly something that is not working.

Maybe he needs to change his approach a bit. Perhaps a bit more cautiousness early in the innings?

I think Pakistan should win because they are the home team and their batting is better.

BD effectively start innings at 0/3. Top 3 are walking wickets.

Only area where BD have an advantage is the pace bowling department. But, that is negligible.
 
Supporting Bangladesh Tigers to beat these bunch of coward and spineless cricketers , gathered by incompetent selectors and their corrupt chairman. They have brought nothing but shame for the country.

Tanzid is better in terms of what, subjective? Can you back it with stats?
Sarkar is a superior ODI player than Tanzid. No two ways. And no he doesn’t only score against minnows. He scored 160 odd against New Zealand in NZ. His last 12 ODI’s he has been averaging 45+, since his comeback.

Your boy Tanzid is like those Bangladeshi batters of the early 00s. Few flashes of brilliance , easily cheap gets out, 20s and 30s is like 50 and 100 for them.
