Impressed with BD's performances over the last 2-3 years. They are very capable team to beat any team in the world on a given day. Opposition take them lightly, but that's their biggest advantage.

I expect BD to lift the champions Trophy on 18th June at the Oval just like India won 1983 WC, Pakistan won 1992 WC and SL won 1996 WC. Best of luck Tigers!! :shakib

Why not? If they beat everyone else, they will and they have shown that they have the capability

Only a choke will stop England from winning this CT. Bangladesh will have to beat India and England to win this CT, not impossible but extremely improbable.

They are a good odi unit now and have played with a lot of sensibility yet have been aggressive when the situation demanded it. Good luck to them .

That's a bit overreaction and unrealistic. They are doing well and improving but will be a relatively easy semi final for the team playing against them.

Their paths will cross with India/South Africa in the semis and England/Pak/SL in the final. BD can probably beat Pak/SL but the other three teams would be too strong for them.

Remember they only won against NZ in the tournament. Got walloped by England and were well on their way to a whooping by Australia before rain arrived. NZ they have been beating consistently so it wasn't a big surprise they won. However, it would be a MASSIVE surprise if they win against India/South Africa/England.

To give you an idea,India defeated Windies twice in 1983, Lanka defeated India(fav at home) again twice in the same tournament in 1996.

Assuming England is the strongest here,Bangladesh lost to them.

I feel BD have their best chance on batting pitches. If they get those, they are capable of beating anyone.

If they don't, odds are against them.

they will certainly lift one which will be gifted to them as souvenirs for participating in champions trophy

Don't think so, India in the semis will knock us out, we scored 85 runs in the practice game and couldn't even but bat to ball against Bhuvi n Umesh

Would be a fairy tale story for sure... But looks realistically very difficult especially when the next opponent would either be India or South Africa

We did not get walloped by Eng compared to NZ and Eng. we were once in a position to score 330+, who knows that could have made a difference. We would've been destroyed by Aus tho.

Scoring 300+ against Eng in Eng is no joke.

It is very much possible if they face SA in semis (chokers)
and England in finals (Final chokers)
But if they neet us or India they will get THRASHED

Then to do that we need to beat SA (sa is easy for bd compared to Ind) in semi and SL/Eng in final. Very very Tough ask but possible. Hope can be unlimited.

If they dont face us the CT is for Bangladesh
SA are chokers in KO and England are chokers in finals

England's transformation has been shockingly good. They are steam rolling teams left right and centre now. Let alone ability, all their players seem to have self belief and confidence and arent overawed by the size of the stage.

I support BD in their quest though. Hope they do well in their next game..they too have come a long way which is only good for cricket.

Bangladesh are fadt improving, very good side but I think winning tbe Champions Trophy or an ICC Event lije the World Cup will still take some time.

One thing is very strange though, at a time when we have the maximum number of competitive teams, even Afghanistan are giving a fight to test playing nations the World Cup is getting reduced to 10 teams which is ridiculous.

From what I've seen, England are ridiculously good atm - versatile bowling attack and the best batting order in the tournament and good fielding apart from the odd exceptions. I fear if Pakistan do come through and face England in the semis, they will suffer a thrashing similar to the one that India meted out in their opening group stage match.

Bangladesh aren't favoured to win their SF against whoever they face.

I personally believe all teams who reach the SF have equal chances of reaching the final, it will come down to who handles the pressure much better; BD are inexperienced on such a high profile stage but deserve as much respect as the other teams. If Pakistan find themselves in such a situation their confidence will be sky high, historically we've done fairly well:

1992
1999
2009 CT and World T20
2010
2011

Out of 6 Semi-Finals we've have succeeded in 50% of them so there is no real mental block.

England are a beastly team but they are not invincible:

http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/current/match/913661.html

Even with a weaker XI we managed to do a job on a full strength England XI, they are due a loss and it remains to be seen how they cope with the pressure of a high profile game in their backyard. England for me are boxing equivalent's of a fighter who is "chinny" this can be concealed when you're very sound technically but a vulnerability does exist and it will only take one moment for you to fall. I actually would be more excited to face England in a Semi-Final then any other team.

Anyhow we need to take care of Lanka first and they are very dangerous in their own right, I see them as the tougher opponents then England although it's understandable for people not to agree with me in that regard when it comes to looking at both teams on paper but cricket can be a funny game, momentum and mentality are everything.

Bangladesh fans are getting carried away. The top four teams are England,Australia,South Africa and India. If Bangladesh win then the win will be regarded as a fluke.Bangladesh has a long way to go before it can claim to be a top team.

Not even Die hard Bangladesh Fan dream to lift the Trophy. But cricket is very unpredictable game.

Immature thinking, only 1 good performance and they will lift the trophy? Have you forgotten matches with Pakistan, India and Australia? Lucky to be in Semis due to rained matches.

I've said it before the tournament and im saying it again. Conditions are neutral, the pitch or condition wont favour any specific team.

Bang will be eliminated in the next round where they will be tested much more. Having only won one match in the tournament it's not as if they have dominated other teams.

I only really think that nerves and mental strength come into it when the match situation is tight and it requires some real resilience from either side to pull through and win the contest. The skill level disparity between England and Pakistan is such that I don't think mental strength is going to be a factor.

In fact, as England are playing at home, we have had recent evidence that the host country has been buoyed by home support and has gone on to do really well in their tournaments (India winning 2011 WC and reaching the SFS of 2016 WT20 and Australia winning the 2015 WC). Therefore, I think even if it does come to crunch scenarios, the 12th English player - the crowd may help them win.

You are sadly mistaken, if pak went to semi final, I will bet that they will win it

England are Fav. to win the CT. If they dont then Pakistan will be the team to win this. Pakistan will beat BD in Semi Finals easily.

Pakistan definitely are not going to face Bangladesh in SF.

And wait, Pakistan didn't qualify for the SF yet.

And not sure how you can easily beat us when we have been performing better than Pakistan?

How could you doubt such a result, Pakistan beat the mighty South Africans, who has the minnow Bangladesh beat in last few years? Bangladesh is lucky to be playing the champions trophy, West Indies should be playing . Pakistan will destroy everyone in the path to finals except India/England.

ARE YOU FOR REAL?

they were 4 down and added a 200 partnership. That wasn't a big surprise?

absolutely no chance of India losing to Bangladesh . can bet my life

No one gave India a chance in 1983, but there is always a first. Who knows this could be BD's tournament!

Bangladesh is the no#1 ranked team now.It will beat India easily.Bangladesh bowling is better than Australia and England.

Unlikely, but it would be fantastic for cricket if it did happen.

It's possible I suppose. If the weather stays unpredictable we could well get rain affected results in the semis and final.

Bit of rain at the right time they can easily win. They did score 300 against English attack which is a decent attack.

In a onenoff knockout game anything is possible.. BD has a chance to win the tournament if they have two good days.. Probability is low but Leicester won the title so hey anything is possible..

It's possible.

Bangladesh have beaten both England and India in an ICC tournament in the past.

It can happen again.

It is possible,Taskin,Saqib and Tamim can beat anyone on their day

BD has to play free spirited cricket. India will be like well oiled machine. To disrupt you need to come out of your comfort zone. If India brings their A game they can even thrash England. But current form doesn't suggest they will bring their game A game in CT.

I humbly request you not to instigate hatred towards us. Chime as much as you want for your own team but lay off Bangladesh. This will only bring you down in the long run. We don't need these kind of fake praise.

Read the thread and see what you did.

Sorry Bro, if you think it was a fake praise! I was genuinely impressed with the way BD won against NZ after being 44/4 or so at one stage. I am Indian supporter, but appreciate good cricket played by any team. I saw some Indian fans blamed BD fans in this thread for getting carried away. Please ignore them, there are different kind of fans for every team.

As I mentioned in the OP, opposition teams and fans take BD lightly which is their biggest strength. BD have already defeated India in major tournaments before, hence anything is possible in Semifinals. Once again all the best for BD from an Indian fan!

India are 60-40 favourites. But we all know cricket is not played by words and on paper. And we all know what can happen on the field. Being a semi final, anythinf possible whether one is fav or not. No one expected SL to beat Ind, that too over 320 runs, similar no one expected Pak to beat SA nor BD to come back like that and beat NZ with a massive 224 partnership.

So I think it will he a good contest and I'm sure most ind n bd fans share similar view. It seems more non BD and Ind fans here stirring stuffs up and making it overhyped.

It happened in one group game for Pakistan in 1992, but we went from strength to strength after that KO'ing Australia, NZ, then England in the final. Jealous rivals sometimes forget that part and only remember the rain.

If Bangladesh can show the same cornered tiger character and quality, then fair play to them.

Lol so when will they bring their A game if not in such a massive tournament ?

Stokes and Morgan are capable of choking lol. India firm favorites to lift the trophy.

What about rain helping Aus against NZ? Its all talks. All matters it level of skills and we know thay BD boys are well behind that. It should be a cakewalk for India in semis.

Now We will have to play against 14 players(11 cricketers+3 umpires). Extreme tough for BD. Best of luck to them.

Lots of ifs and buts and qualifications and disclaimers, terms and conditions etc will have to be fulfilled to see Bangladesh lifting the title.

Bangladesh have needed lots of help from the weather gods as well as England to advance to the semi final. Other semifinalists on the other hand have advanced to the SF on their own.

On the basis of the performances seen so far, Bangladesh progress should come to an end in the semi finals.
