Many future test prospects in the squad - Panchal, Iyer, Pant, Kishan, Vijay, Pandya, Kuldeep and the captain as well.

That's actually a strong India A team. I hope all countries would play strong A teams vs touring countries.

The pacers in the squad seem to be unknown. Can some one comment on the India A Pacers? Are they any good?

Decent enough for domestic or seaming track but not even near test standard. And apart from Pandya none of them can hit 90mph.

Why only just one off test?

Should've included 3 ODI's or 2 t20s. Would've been good.

Here is a spell checker for you..

sekendrabad - Secunderabad

jimkhana - Gymkhana

avinab - Abhinav

Sreyash aiyer - Shreyas Iyer

Rishav - Rishabh

Nadim - Nadeem

Kuldip - Kuldeep

Well, BD should thank their lucky stars that they're getting a Test. This is the first time they'd be playing a Test in India even though they've been playing for more than a decade now (or more? doesn't anyone remember?)

Well it makes us seem like beggars really.

Either invite us for a proper series or not. No need to invite us out of pity or to please us.

Bangladesh is not an attractive opponent. So there is nothing to be gained from an Indian perspective .

Give a strong performance and earn respect.

India respects Bangladesh ODI side. Bangladesh earned it there.

yes. There was 25 days gap between Eng tests & odi series. Could have fitted in a 3 test match series vs BD in there or a 3odis & 3t20s tour.

A lot of Bangladesh fans take exception to the fact but the harsh truth is that cricket is simply governed by economics. Indian sponsors need to be willing to sponsor a test series with Bangladesh with more than two matches which is pretty unreasonable to expect now.

Bangladesh haven't competed much against India in test cricket (unlike in LOIs) and even the drawn test would've been a comfortable victory for India if not for the rain despite a very placid pitch. I think this test was earned actually on the back of the impressive Bangladesh performances in LOIs and also it was a long time due really. This is sort of an opportunity for Bangladesh. If they perform exceedingly well, a longer India-Bangladesh test series in India will be a much more lucrative option for the sponsors and we might even get some LOIs with it. But if Bangladesh roll over inside 4 days, then they will find it hard to get the next test sooner. I know it's harsh as even teams like Australia and England have capitulated inside 4 days in India. However that is the long arduous road for any emerging test team and that's how perceptions are created/destroyed.

Overall I would love to have a very competitive test with some young Indian players getting a chance too if possible.

Agree with every word you said. That's why you are one of my favorite posters.

'Respect should be earned'- I believe. If Bangladesh continue doing well like they are they are doing now ,they will earn respect and that will force everyone to give more matches in future. Hope Bangladesh do very well in the every single little opportunity they get. Hope they do very well in the lonely test with India and earn bigger series from India very soon.*

Tamil Nadu batsman Abhinav Mukund made a comeback into the Indian team after nearly six years, while Wriddhiman Saha was back after an injury, as the selectors announced a 16-member squad on Tuesday for the one-off Test against Bangladesh starting on 9 February in Hyderabad.

Parthiv Patel was left out of the side despite an inspired show in the England Test series as well as the Ranji Trophy, in which scored a match-winning century in the final.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha returns to the Test team after making a mark in domestic cricket with an unbeaten double hundred to guide Rest of India to Irani Cup triumph earlier this month.

Murali Vijay, Ajinkya Rahane, Hardik Pandya and Jayant Yadav all returned to the squad after recovering from injuries, while Mohammad Shami is still recovering for his injury and was not named in the squad.

After battering New Zealand 3-0 and England 4-0 in Tests, Virat Kohli and Co will look to similarly outplay Bangladesh on home soil as well.

However, Bangladesh will also be looking to turn their stuttering form, coming from a 2-0 Test defeat at the hands of New Zealand and despite their away series loss, one can't afford to overlook the likes of Tamim Iqbal, Imrul Kayes, Sabbir Rahman, Shakib Al-Hasan, Mustafizur and Rubel Hossain who fought back to script a famous win over England and level the series 1-1.

Mukund last played for India against England at Trentbridge, Nottingham in 2011, scoring 0 and 3 in his two innings. He has played five Tests for India so far, scoring 211 runs at 21.10, with one fifty. He has played 10 matches in the Ranji Trophy so far, scoring 848 runs at 65.30, including four hundreds and three fifties.

Earlier, the BCCI selection committee meeting for the one-off Test against Bangladesh was delayed by four hours after joint secretary Amitabh Chaudhary was found ineligible to convene the meeting.

India squad: Virat Kohli (c), KL Rahul, Murali Vijay, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Wriddhiman Saha(wk), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Jayant Yadav, Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav, Amit Mishra, Abhinav Mukund, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Karun Nair, Hardik Pandya.

Very very strong team with good reserve and future prospects.

Bangladesh should kick out mahmudullah from test team as he never did anything in test. Just wasting a place of test team. Many very good prospect are waiting in the line. Hope BCB kicks him and give chance to young talents. There are many of them waiting.

Abhinav mukund should not have been selected based on performance. P Patel deserved a chance as a backup opener.

India's A team batting line-up is amazingly even stronger than Bangladesh main team. Whoever bats the best in this lone test will win it. Should've been 2 tests ideally.

I expect Kohli to flop as he won't take this match seriously (nor he should). Still Bangladesh bowlers can't take 20 wickets (or even 10 I predict). India will win by a decent margin

India has everything to lose in this one match series. And Bangladesh has nothing to lose. Can play freely.

BCB has announce 15 member test squad today (1/02/2017) for the lonely test in india.

Bangladesh 15 man squad:

1. Tamim 2. Mushfiq 3. Somya 4. Mahmudullah 5. Shakib 6. Shabbir 7. Taskin 8. Kamrul 9. Shuvashish 10. Shafiul 11. Taijul 12. Liton 13. Miraz 14. Imrul 15. Mominul

Bangladesh batsman are no pushovers , I don't feel Jadeja would be efficient against them as they too have so many left armors in their team. but handling Ashwin would be a challenge for them for sure.

Bowling looks super weak.

They are going to be annihilated. Bookmark this post. India in India is mighty difficult even for strong teams.
Should have ODI instead.

Bangla boys going to lose by an innings and 200 runs. Mark my words. Bangla are better off playing against Ireland and afghanistan

Your hatred is understandable. You know what, these teams are better than current Pak team in LOI. Don't get frustrated. We all know where bd cricket stand. They are not world beater but not also pushover. I India is a beast on their own ground. At least Bangladesh can't do worse than England or aus there. We would be glad if we just good cricket there. That would be great achievement for bd comparing other big nation's struggle there and considering this as first ever tour of bd there.

Afghanistan is a boom boom entertaining team, they can beat any team, have a best of 5 against Afghans and trust me in one of the match Afghans will score 400+ against your bowlers, you don't have a starc or a hazzlewood. Shahzad alone will score 200 against your bowlers

that is why because he give epic phainty to ATG bangladesh bowlers :afridi

nah because nowadays it's a norm to score 400+ against amir, wahab hasan etc :butt

I would agree that Saeed is going a little overboard with his statements against Afghanistan but let me reassure you bro, Bangladesh fans need to stop overhyping their players to the moon. I seriously doubt them winning too much abroad. Yeah, they're improving but saying things like this is exaggeration to the extreme.

Hey bro, I respect you as a poster, I am just having a light hearted banter, I dislike my players anyway :shakib

385 against bangladesh in 2010 (which according to ban fan are best team in asia)

Don't remember man, I only started following Bangladesh cricket after they won the odi series against Pakistan :asif Best Asian ODI side is India

Hahah, I've seen you do that which is why I was surprised. :p And no reason for you to dislike players who are actually good. :amir3

Abhinav mukund should not have been selected based on performance. P Patel deserved a chance as a backup opener.

You can't say Mukund didn't deserve a call up.

He was probably the best opener or the 2nd best in the last Ranji season. You could say Patel deserved it more as he did well in the chances he got against England to open the innings.

He should have got a chance before then. You cannot randomly select players on past performance neglecting current form. But good luck to him. I don't rate him much though. Neither do I rate P Patel for his temperament.

The Ranji season where he performed just finished.

He's an opener in the Renshaw mould. Will probably be not as useful as someone like Dhawan in the subcontinent. But I would have him as a reserve opener any day in our overseas tours. Top scored in the pink ball Duleep trophy match under lights when everyone else was collapsing around him. Has great temperament.

He is 9th in the list of high scorer this season. Not bad actually. Let's see how he does if he gets chance.
