Bangladesh tour of India (2019) to play 3 T20Is and 2 Test matches

None of you hypocrites ever said one word when dhoni lingered for years with just 2 50 scores in his entire career. Now you just want to target an young and obviously talented youngster. Well said indeed

Lol how do you know that we never criticised dhoni here? You need to calm down. You are the only hypocrite in this thread. Can you please tell us what has Dhoni got to do with this thread? He is history now.

I would have taken you seriously had you compared Samson with Pant in this thread. But you are in a mood to post rubbish after rubbish and bringing in Dhoni unneccessarily. I said this during the World Cup also that Dhoni should retire after the World Cup. For me he is history now. :inti

Pant is averaging in his 20's in LoI's , when we go to NZ for tests I would like pant to replace saha in tests. But he has gotten a long enough rope in Odi's and t20's. You can't keep giving him chances after chance as he keeps failing. There is a thing called taking him out of the firing line.

A stint in domestic cricket would do him good right now.

Brilliant post. Let him go back to domestic cricket. If he is that good he will be back in the team. Team management already rates him highly so they will keep an eye on his performance. :inti

They will never answer your question directly, the only thing they are capable of is twisting the question.

Why was dhoni not dropped despite having two 50s and many failed finishes in t20is.

If dhoni wasn't dropped despite his performances then the selectors shouldn't drop pant, thats it.

I was so looking forward to this series after the South Africa bore fest.

Bangladesh, with better spinners and better players of spin bowling would have been a stiffer challenge for India.
But it looks likely to be another snooze fest with a weakened Bangladesh without Tamim and now Shakib.

No one is targeting Pant. You have clearly missed the point, Pant is a talented cricketer no one denies that not even selectors. They have clearly said Pant is the future. Pant is dropped by Kohli, he needs to make few adjustments to his game and he will be back soon.

Why does Pant need to be compared to Dhoni? Who is comparing Pant to Dhoni?

There is no denying Dhoni is past it, he knows and so does Kaptaan but that doesn't people should bad mouth him. The selectors haven't picked him thats the end of it for now.

Why do anyone need to bring Dhoni when he is not even selected?

First day/night test match. Sports channels will enjoy broadcasting this on prime time and Saurav will use all his powerful connections to make it historic.

So why was dhoni continued with despite only 2 meaningful knocks in his entire career in t20? How does average matter in t20.and not impactful scores? There is a reason we have won nothing in t20 after 2007

What do you mean he keeps on failing? 1 or 2 series is keeps of failing. the double standards and hypocrisy is nauseating

Pant's played 20 t20's and averages a mighty 20 at a strike rate of 120 is that impactful in any way shape or form, he's played 12 odi's and averages 22, neither number is good enough.

Where did i say i want dhoni to play, you can look at my post history my friend, i have wanted dhoni retired for a long time now. Dhoni should be nowhere near either the odi or the t20 team, but pant is ******** his pants in those formats right now and does not deserve to be picked.

Can he use his powerful connections to stop the due from falling at night? because otherwise this is going to be a farce of a game.

You have watch it to judge if it is farce or not. As far as i remember Kolkata pitch is bit more juicier for fast bowlers it would be interesting to see if dew negates movement under lights.

Lol I can imagine you and Indiafan rolling on the floor crying. Look at the desperation here.

Pant hasn't done anything in LOI's to deserve such a long rope. Let him play atleast an inning like Dhoni did against Pakistan in 2005.

Pant is getting to play at 3/4/5 while Dhoni used to play at 7. How many half centuries a number 7 batsman has hit in T20's?

While you are at it you should also compare Dhoni's ODI stats against Pant's. But being such sore losers you guys will never do that because Dhoni's ODI stats and other accomplishments will tear apart all your baseless ranting lol. :inti

Those stats are useless, that's like rating Tendulkar's last 2 years by pointing out his entire career stats. No wants 28-30 year old dhoni gone, they want the 37 year old one gone.

In his last 5 t20i games he's played at a SR of above just 125 2 times and there too one of the two was barely over 125. This is a player who comes in at 4-5 at the earliest most likely at no 6 and he can't score at SR 125 consistently. In the other 3 innings he scored at below 100 twice and only 1 of those 3 innings did he play less than 10 balls. He is slow and can't bat at death. And thus shouldn't be picked.

If kaptaan is an poor in LoI's there's a simple solution, give it to the Rohit, whose won multiple ipl's and is the only captain who has won multilateral series as captain of India in recent times.

It definitely isn't going to be interesting watching bowlers being unable to grip the ball in a test match.

Where did I say I want Dhoni in the T20 team? I posted his overall stats by batting position to show he wasn't that bad. I had to post it because of that insecure Pant fan who brought Dhoni into discussion. He is still averaging more than Pant in T20's. Anyway he is history now and not a threat to Pant.

I find it funny that some fans who don't take international T20's seriously are making fun of Dhoni's stats. :inti

Bangladesh head coach Russell Domingo on Tuesday said that the decision to make their second Test against India in Kolkata a day-night affair is a great opportunity. India go into the series on the back of a record 11-match winning streak in home Test series and were ruthless in their 3-0 annihilation of South Africa but Domingo believes that their unfamiliarity with the pink ball is good news for the visitors.

"We know India are a good Test team. Probably they are the number one team in the world, but there will be uncertainty among players of both the teams of playing a pink ball Test," he said.

"As a coach I think it's a great opportunity. I don't think India played a pink ball Test before, we too haven't played a pink ball Test either. It's going to be a massive occasion at the Eden Gardens. It will be a new experience for both teams. So we're very excited. Both teams don't quite know what to expect, so it could work in our advantage, could work in our favour."

Domingo also said that the venue of the Test - the iconic Eden Gardens - only makes it better.

"It's going to be a great occasion under lights in Kolkata against one of the best team of all formats. So we're really looking forward to the challenge. For sure there will be challenges because we're not going to have a lot of time to prepare with a pink ball," Domingo said.

Why reply to my post with dhoni's t20 stats then? You posted dhoni's stats replying to a post where I said dhoni shouldn't be in a t20 team, how am I suppose to infer that you don't want dhoni in the t20 team reading the stats? Reply to the correct post mate.

Mahmudullah, who will lead Bangladesh in the three-match T20I series on their tour of India, admitted that Shakib Al Hasan's absence would be a big blow, but hoped it could spur the team on to do even better on a tough assignment.

Citing the national jersey as the biggest source of inspiration, Mahmudullah said that Bangladesh will work as a team to try and bring down a strong Indian side in their home conditions.

"Of course, I think he is a major part of Bangladesh cricket," Mahmudullah told reporters on Wednesday, 30 October. "There's no doubt about it. We know how important he is for our team.

"If we talk about inspiration, our national jersey is enough for that. There is nothing that can be more inspirational. We will try as a team to bring a good result.

"They are unbeaten in last 11-12 series [11 successive Test series wins at home]. This is going to be tough, but nothing is impossible. We have to play really good as a team. We have to assure that we take all the chances and execute every opportunity. Then we can win. Our duty is to play at our best for the country. We will try to do that. And I think everyone will take that [Shakib's absence] as motivation."

Wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim, too, echoed Mahmudullah's sentiments, and added that the leading all-rounder's absence presents a great opportunity for the younger lot.

"I have been playing with Shakib for many years now," Mushfiqur said. "Definitely we will miss him and without him it will be tough. It will be a huge opportunity for the young cricketers.

''If we play at their [India's] home, there will be challenges. And if there is challenge, then there will be platform to play well."

In light of the possible verdict in Ayodhya land dispute case later this month, the Indore police has put in place elaborate security measures in the city for the India-Bangladesh Test at the Holkar Stadium that gets underway from November 14.

The stadium has a capacity of 27,000 spectators.

Indore range’s Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Varun Kapoor on Thursday said that due to the timing of the two events, they will deploy additional police force for the match. “The match is being held at a sensitive time as there is a possibility that the Supreme Court will pronounce a verdict on the Ayodhya dispute. Despite that, we will put in place elaborate security arrangements by drawing adequate police force for the match,” Kapoor said.

The police are also reviewing arrangements in eight districts and confident of getting adequate forces to meet their requirements. “In view of the possible judgment on Ayodhya, we are reviewing security arrangements for deployment of force in eight districts of Indore range. We are fully confident that we will get adequate force from the police headquarters for deployment as per the requirement,” he said.

The police are also keeping a close eye on social media platforms warning that anyone attempting to disturb communal harmony will be strictly dealt with.

Bangladesh’s India tour gets underway from November 3 with the first of three T20Is in Delhi before moving to Rajkot and to Nagpur. From November 14, the two teams will play in the first Test of a two-match series in Indore before moving eastwards to Kolkata for the first ever day-night Test in India.

India vs Bangladesh: Shakib Al Hasan's Ban Will Affect Team's Performance, Says Bangladesh Coach

Bangladesh suffered a huge blow ahead of their tour to India when their premier all-rounder, Shakib Al Hasan, was banned by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for not reporting corrupt approaches. Ahead of the first Twenty20 International (T20I) of the three-match series against India, Bangladesh's head coach Russel Domingo said that Shakib Al Hasan's absence will affect his team's performance and it is difficult to replace a player like him. "There's not much we can control. Obviously it (Shakib's ban) affects the team's performance but we need to be focused on the series and the World Cup (T20)," he added.

Bangladesh's head coach highlighted that Shakib's unavailability will cause a selection headache for the visitors.

"He bats at No.3. Often, he opens the bowling, bowls first change, bowls four overs in every game, he is one of our leading batters. So you need to decide whether you replace the batsman or do you replace the bowler."

"Because you can't replace both as it is very difficult to get players who provide both skills. So you might find yourself short in some department and strengthened in one department," Domingo added.

Bangladesh's coach also explained that the final XI will be decided after the team management will assess the condition on the match day.

"It will depend on conditions. If the pitch is flat, we will have an extra bowler and if the pitch does a little, may be have an extra batsman. It is very difficult to fill Shakib's shoes but those available should try their best to get those numbers," he said.

Why no practice games provided for Bangladesh in India?

For Bangladesh to try win test series in India is probably as hard as Pakistan trying to win test series in Australia.

While Pakistan is provided with not one but two practice games (3 day game and 2 day game), Bangladesh is not provided a single one! Not to mention, Bangladesh was not provided any practice games for t20 series either.

Even though Bangladesh and India are both asian nations, conditions can still be very different in two countries, practice games are a must for any visiting country!

Your thoughts?

Same conditions my friend and Bangla probably didn't want one.

We even gave practice game to Afghans. Btw it will definitely not be exactly the same conditions. Playing practice game also gives some confidence to players after they manage to spend some time in the middle. The most important fact to remember is, each test match is worth 60 points for world test championship

Probably players boycott led to delayed tour and hence no practice game. There was no practice in Bangladesh as well. Expect a one-sided affair

Question to Indians, wouldn't you have also loved to see a 4-day game between one of your ranjhi sides and Bangladesh? It would have also been some good experience for Indian domestic first-class players who can't make the national team due to tough competition to play an international side. This would have been a win-win situation...

It's India's fast bowling unit which is now feared in Tests but Bangladeshi batsmen are more concerned about handling spin twins Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja during the two-match series, top-order batsman Mohammad Mithun said on Tuesday.

Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav and Ishant Sharma are expected to be more than a handful during the series but Mithun seemed more wary about the Ashwin-Jadeja threat. "We all know the strength of their bowling line-up. We are working on how to tackle their spinners as it is batting-friendly for the first two days but afterwards their spinners come into play as they try to attack the opposition," he said.

"We are working on some technical aspects keeping our focus on how to handle them," Mithun said.

They are expecting that batting coach Neil McKenzie will help them decode the Indian spinners.

"Let the technical things remain inside the dressing room," he said without parting with the trade secrets.

Asked to comment on India's weakness, Mithun said that he preferred to look at his own strength than opponent's weakness.

"We are looking at our strength more than focusing on their weakness because no team could do well against them at their home (in the recent past). We are looking forward to do well here. Obviously it won't be easy and we need to work really hard," he said.

"The five bowlers they (India) have, we cannot take anyone lightly because everyone is world class."

Mithun has belief in his young bowling unit that it can take 20 wickets to win a Test match.

"Any batsman can get out anytime. If we can bowl as a unit with discipline I feel we can pick 20 wickets."

While India are favourites by a distance, Mithun feels that the T20 win in Delhi gives them hope of enjoying a good result.

"If we look at the past no one gave us any chance when it comes to beating India in the T20 and that too in their own backyard.

"But our players had that belief. We are disappointed that we could not win the last game (in Nagpur) despite creating chances at the same time now we are looking forward to do well in Test series."

Bangladesh’s reserve opener for the two-match Test series Saif Hassan landed himself trouble after he overstayed in India, and ended up paying a penalty of INR 21,6000.

Hassan stopped at the NSCBI Airport on Monday while he was boarding a flight to Dhaka without a valid visa. Hassan was issued a visa in June that was valid till Sunday midnight, Neither Hassan or Bangladesh team’s logistic department noticed that the opener’s visa has expired.

While a part of the Bangladesh team flew to Dhaka a day after their loss to India in the 2nd Test at the Eden Gardens in the Pink-Ball Test, Hassan, who was ruled out of the series due to a split webbing stayed back and boarded the flight on Monday. He had to stay back for two days.

On Wednesday, Hassan was issued necessary visa by the Indian High Commission in Dhaka.

Yet, Hasan had to pay a hefty penalty for overstaying for just a matter of few hours.

The BJP-led government in the centre has made recent changes in the financial penalty for overstaying in India even for hours, reported The Times of India.
