This is Afghanistan's first ODI since February this year, when they appeared in the Champions Trophy. Since then, they have actually played little cricket. They took part in the T20I tri-series involving Pakistan and UAE, before the Asia Cup, and that was followed by the T20Is against Bangladesh which they lost 3-0.
Afghanistan have made three changes to the playing XI that last played ODIs. They have brought in left-arm spinner Nangeyalia Kharote and mystery spinner AM Ghazanfar while handing an ODI debut to left-arm quick Bashir Ahmad. They are without Gulbadin Naib, Noor Ahmad and Fazalhaq Farooqi who were dropped from their ODI side in this series.
Bangladesh have picked the debutant Saif Hassan, while Nurul Hasan returns to the ODIs after two years. They have not picked Shamim Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman, Rishad Hossain and Nahid Rana.
Bangladesh meanwhile have asked Parvez Hossain to stay back in Abu Dhabi, although he is still not officially in the ODI squad. Parvez is a backup for Mohammad Naim who is yet to fly out of Dhaka due to UAE visa issues.
