This is not a squire turner by any means trust me. New ball is bouncing & skidding a bit, but after that batsman can play quite easily with application. Problem is, these days there is hardly any footwork & players are groomed to hit through the line with heavy mallets & tight bottom hand on roads - slightest of turn & they simply forget batting. So far 2 wickets down - Tamim pushed at a ball that he should have waited for the ball to come with soft bottom hand - that edge would have never carried to short mid wicket (yes, mid wicket - in olden days short leg used to stand just on the edge of wicket without helmet - those were men's game). While, it's a shame that a spinner like Adir Rashed can land the ball ..... & Imrul went for a sweep - being left hander, he can step out every time & take it on full or pad up if not sure covering the line - in 5 days Rashid won't get him LBW.
If this is squire turner, then in the IND-PAK Bangalore Test '87, none of these teams would score 96 in any of 4 innings.

Can Bangladesh chase this down?
I feel they are committed.
But can they do it?

It's a shame to see subcontinental batsmen batting like the westerners on turning pitches, high batspeed and playing the ball off the pitch always gets you in trouble. Even pujara got owned by Lyon and Ali and he's considered to be one of the best players of spin in the Indian lineup.
NO.
We lost the game on 2nd afternoon - Mushi & Sakib went into shell for last 30 minutes against a tiered England attack - reverse swing came in to play, that momentum lost & we lost 6/27 - you don't win Test matches from there. The target easily could have been 230.
Probably the margin will be less than 45![]()
I also agree that this isn't a minefield by any means.
However, it is still a pitch heavily in favor of the spinners. TBH i won't complain about the footwork of either team. The reason why this pitch is difficult to bat on is not only because of the turn but the bounce.
Also you hit bullseye about sweeping. Sweeping is cardinal crime on this wicket if the ball is gripping and bouncing. The best players of spin will try to use their feet or play in the backfoot but hardly sweep UNLESS the ball is full pitched around the leg stump in which case the finer sweep can be applied.
Root made the same mistake too. And he is regarded as England's best batsman. This shows that batsman are clueless on how to tackle spin.
Be positive bro, I have a feeling Shakib will come down the track and chase this down with an over to spare.![]()

Younis is a real ATG when it comes to playing spin. Leagues above anyone in the world currently

I'll be hurt, but not shamed if we lose; BUT, I'll be shamed if this guy Rashid gets a 5 fer!!!!!!
We have to assume that we have 4 wickets left
-mominul
- riad
-shakib
-mushy
I won't be surprised if the tail skittles out for 20 runs
At this moment I feel that this is Bangladesh's match to lose. They have everything on their side: wickets, target, and time.
Mominul looks like a really good player.
lol nvm what do I knowWhy has Cook taken short leg out? His captaincy hasn't been to great this game.
Yes...but can't compare Pujara at his worst and say that bro.
Pujara has played many impactful knocks in ruthless turners.
The knock where he chased down 150 in 4th innings against Aus when the pitch was spitting was a God of God knocks. He scored 82 at 83 SR while the rest of the team were huffing and puffing. Most ATGs can't claim to have played 1 such knock in their careers.
Pujara has his weakness but peak Pujara was an amazing player of spin.

Just goes to show the lack of test match cricket played by Bangladesh. If we had played enough tests batsman wouldn't be sweeping the ball like that.
2 of the 3 wickets have gone to the sweep
He has had his good knocks but still nowhere near the Fab 4 or the Indian batsmen from the 90s for me. He finds a way to score runs somehow Ill say that much.
So who's winning ??
It took 4 wickets to get your confidence back? 285 wasn't enough on this wicket?
wow you got riled up pretty easily thereguess Bangladesh might be slightly on the back foot
. However, in case you don't know there is another test match going on at the moment.
Good luck with this test though....Seeing it's a test match, you guys actually might need the latter - In bulk quantity![]()

Apne ne thaan li hai ke halkay nahi ana hai![]()
Peak Pujara was as good as the Fab 4 against spin I think.
Then he developed some weakness.
He didn't somehow score those runs. English fans by the 2nd test had lost hope of getting him out. He was THAT good.
I am watching both Test, so you are. I am not riled up actually - like last time, I wasn't sure if you were in you troll mode or banter mood - got it no, banter mood. Never mind - enjoy the other Test until 5th wicket fells.

Lets go englandwant to see more of this![]()
On a serious note though, this game is Bangladesh's to lose man !! Just play out the day and you guys will win eventually. The minute that score comes into double figures ENGLAND WILL START TO PANIC and that is where you guys should try to seize the opportunity.
Someone in that lineup would need to just shut out the situation from his head and play a long gritty knock, no matter if it's ugly. Trying to Slam Bang here will not work.
Who's that guy in your line up ?? Shakib ?? Mushfiq ??
285 is never easy, but possible if there is a big score at the start - so far all 4 has stayed for more than 45 minutes, but highest is 43, so the chance is very, very little.
Let's agree to disagree in that case, I rate his spin play but not as highly as you. On faster and bouncier tracks he got exposed because of his low hands and it's not like Moeen is a world beater. In any case it's only 1 truly great series he has had, on a day 5 pitch you can depend on the likes of VVS and Dravid to still see the team home. I don't think Che is at that level personally.
Was always going to be tough chasing in 4th innings.
Not seeing, how are Mo, Rash and Batty bowling on the turner?
They are not bowler for turners. English spinners are mostly for blocking runs - none of them has put 6 ball on spot in an over. 3 of the 4 wickets are for attacking shot.
Just hope they don't bring in Monty for the India tour. Don't think he is ready mentally as well. But he made the biggest difference last time around, more than Swann.
These spinners are slightly better than partime bowlers. Have always believed England will struggle in Asia unless they unearth some genuine spinner from the County circuit. It's astounding how there is not a single genuine spinner in the county circuit. Mason Crane possibly but he is too young. This lack of genuine spinners will always be their undoing in Asia. It ended up costing them in the UAE and it most probably will more or less be the same in India as well.
We are just 1 wicket too many down!! 126 with 6 wickets probably was a balanced game.
Sabbir to chase this down.![]()
Didn't's team usually end up loosing ??
- Savage if you meant it the way I perceived it initially

All Ali needs is consistency to be a world-class spinner. He's lacking badly in this aspect though so it's anything but a quick fix.
He needs to add more to his spin game too.
However an accurate Ali on a rank turner or day 5 pitch can be really hard to negotiate.
Ali in 2014 used to get some massive drift. Dunno if he gets drift these days. Haven't watched him much.
We need 107 more runs to win, with 5 wickets in hand.
Possible? Yes.
It all depends on this partnership. Let us see what happens post tea. I doubt that match will go onto the 5th day, so it ends tonight.
